I stayed at the Kimball Lodge in 2017 and could not stop thinking about the Island Inn on Sanibel Island since then - so, I decided to "splurge" and stay in the new Matthews Lodge this year from 04/25/2022 - 05/01/2022 - I loved it! I was so impressed with the space in the room - a huge dresser with plenty of drawers in the bedroom - more drawers and shelves in the bathroom - this was well needed for all of my clothes and toiletries! The outdoor screened in balcony had a sink and space to rinse bathing suits and sea shells! The living room had plenty of tables and shelves for my bike maps and books. I shopped at Bailey's Grocery Store and also had pizza delivered and utilized my kitchen! I rented a bike for the entire week - I recommend George and Wendy's Seafood Grill and Doc Ford's Restaurant to everyone! I ate at Traditions for dinner twice and had great food and service - I recommend the filet mignon! I made an appointment with a Marine Biologist and we walked the beach of Sanibel Island together and she taught me so much - In 2017 I biked the entire Ding Darling Refuge - the Marine Biologist helped me make the decision regarding which nature preserve to visit this year - I decided to do something different (per her advise) and got a driver to take me to the absolutely beautiful Six Mile Slough Preserve in Fort Myers - superb choice! The Tarpon Bay is biking distance from the Island Inn and I went here and did some kayaking and paddle boarding - I will never forget my adventures here! The pool and ocean were great! I got a discount from the Marine Biologist to visit the SeaShell Museum again - neat place! The Bailey Tract is yet another nice place to ride a bike.. I love the trees and plants on the beach here - this is a beautiful island...so much wildlife - I miss the alligators and marsh rabbits.....the place that I stayed was very clean and the housekeeping ladies were very friendly and polite... I will return, but was VERY SAD to learn that the place will most likely be closed at end of April next year (which is when I typically travel to Florida)......Construction and tearing down of certain buildings might be happening at that time............

You sound like you checked all of the boxes for an ecotherapy vacation and that is music to our nature-focused & historic Inn! Thanks for sharing your insider tips too!     Wonderful Hotel, most relaxing vacation ever

    First time on Sanibel Island. The Island Inn was just fabulous. Our room, #247 in Kimball, was steps from the beach. I LOVED it. Room was a nice size, and the screened in porch was wonderful. Location of the hotel was great, not far away from anything (you do need a car). Room was clean and neat, housekeeping was terrific. Our room had a kitchenette, which was really nice. I am not into room coffee pots, so if I had 1 wish for the resort it would be a place to get coffee/breakfast on property. There is a restaurant for dinner, but a small little coffee shop would put my review over the top. Hubby & I loved it here and we will be back for sure!

    Room tip: Loved the Kimball Lodge proximity to the beach but nothing is that far from the beach here.

    Another great vacation at the Island Inn.

    We have stayed here multiple times over the years and the resort was just as wonderful as always. First time in the Starkey Lodge for us - the room was perfect with a large bathroom, a nice kitchen, a screened porch facing the Gulf, and plenty of room. As usual, the staff was very friendly, housekeeping visited us the first morning and set us up for service and we were good to go. I like that the umbrellas are out on the beach by 8:30 am. Already thinking about our next visit!

    Room tip: Every room here is excellent.

    1.A great location, close to beach.
    2.Love that they set up umbrellas.
    3. Very helpful at check in.
    4. Nice room in kimbell lodg room 268. nice screened in porch with view of gulf.
    5. Everything clean
    6. Liked having the (very nice) housekeeping woman on hall each day, but not going into rooms. She handed us a few things that we asked for, and asked our Room number. That was great.
    8. rnjoyed fancy mothers ay dinner at Trasitions - on sire of hotel.
    We've already recommended you to a loved one.

    Great time at Island Inn

    We love it at the Island Inn and plan to come yearly! The grounds and amenities are perfect. The staff is very accommodating and the suites are roomy and modern. Conveniently located to everything! Beach is clean and never too crowded.

    Room tip: We love the Matthew Lodge its luxurious

    Perfect. Simply Perfect!

    We reserved the Sandpiper and Seagrape cottages for our family. From check in to check out everything was perfect!! From the grounds to the rooms, such a beautiful and clean resort. Very peaceful here and the beach is just beautiful. The Island Inn has thought of everything, and it shows. We are going back very soon. They have maid service if you would like it, clean towels easily accessible, friendly staff, and a great location. We celebrated our 30 anniversary at Traditions restaurant right on the property-we loved the atmosphere (live music), our server Daniel was attentive and so fun, and the food was beyond incredible! Truly a relaxing vacation at an incredible resort!

    Room tip: Any room on the property is in a great location!
