Where to begin...? Probably the worst place I've ever stayed in. I was very surprised and to say the least, disappointed. I usually bring shampoo and body wash/ soap but I thought that the hotel usually supplies these so why bring it. Bad call.
1. The view from the room was the wall of a parking garage which kept the room always dark.
2. The lights in the room, even with all of them on at the same time, still made it difficult to read. As a surgeon, I like to have plenty of light so that I do not have to squint to see what I'm doing, or reading.
3. The remote for the TV didn't work.
4. The pool was closed for renovations. The pool was one of the reasons why I wanted to stay there. It would've been nice to get a heads up beforehand since I planned on swimming to rehab my shoulder.
5. The coffee maker was on when I came into the room. I doubt that was safe.
6. The microwave was blinking with 44 seconds left on it as if someone had gone into the room had coffee, heated something up in the microwave, had forgotten to clear the seconds and maybe even watched some TV and then left.
7. It was quite annoying to have to use my card key to enter the elevator. Besides the fact that not all of the elevator banks went to the basement level, so that you'd have to get out of 1 elevator, scan your key card, wait for another elevator to go down 1 floor. I assume that to enter the stairwell to the basement level, you'd still need the key card.
8. The shampoo and the body wash bottles were empty. The shampoo bottle had also fallen off of the shower wall.
9. There were no tissues in the room.
10. There were very few outlets to plug the laptop, phone and iPad into.
11. I was unable to connect to the Wi-Fi, staff was no help.
12. The key card stopped working after the second day. I had gotten a replacement key that also didn't work. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and had contacted one of the Maintenance staff gents who had met me at the room and after a few tries of not being able to open the door, he had used the master key to get me in. He was also very nice and extremely helpful.
There were two things that I felt were pretty good. One was the breakfast, they had a variety of items, both hot and cold, to choose from. The other was the fitness center that was decent.
I'd be hard-pressed to stay there again, or at another Hampton Inn, for that matter. It is a shame, I do like Hilton Hotels and have stayed at other ones along the east coast but, I don't think I'd take the chance again anytime soon.
