Good location with car parking

Reviewed Mar 18, 2024
Good location just outside Manuel Antonio National Park and is walking distance to some good restaurants. The reception area was a little underwhelming but we slowly warmed to the hotel. Despite being full the hotel never seemed over busy except at breakfast over the weekend. The food was adequate but breakfast was repetitive with only scrambled eggs available, no fried or omelets also it was self service. There was the usual rice and beans, plantain and hash browns. Happy hour was a bonus between 5-7pm and was never busy. The pool was like a bath and nicely set amongst the foliage was was open until 10.00pm at night so it was popular for a dip before bed. During the morning the pool was very quiet as people were mostly out on activities. We can recommend the the guided tour at the park and the hotel organised this for us. The bedroom had two large beds which was also a bonus since it was so hot there. The air con was very effective and there were also ceiling fans. The hotel does leave pots for tips in several places which was a bit in your face and we didn't experience this in the other locations we stayed at. If you want to leave a gratuity don't add it to the bill it's better to put it in the pot. Dollars are widely accepted in Costa Rica, in fact we never had any local currency.

The booking process was difficult. We wanted to stay for 3 nights but had to make 3 separate bookings which resulted in us having to change rooms on the last day. Hotel itself is feeling a bit dated and there was a bad sewer smell down by the pool. The breakfast buffet wasn't great and on our last day they closed it early so we ended up having to go out somewhere to get breakfast. Location is very central so it's close to restaurants and bus stops. The pool area is quite nice and the pool is a great temperature for a nice dip on a hot day. Our 2nd room had lots of space and the beds are quite comfortable. Our first room felt a bit cramped but had a nice view of the pool. The elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floors is not working and our friends who stayed here last year said it was out of order then as well so we nicknamed it the Big Bang Theory elevator.

Room tip: Hotub and elevator never seem to work.

Beautiful place, very clean, we loved all the wild vegetation, animals around us. We have seen monkeys, iguanas and many different kind of birds during our stay. The staff was always there to help, the food was great, although I would like to see a few more vegan options. The room was very clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We enjoyed every minutes laying by the pool.

Cosy hotel in lovely surroundings with very nice staff. Comfortable beds and very clean. It's a good little base to explore Manuel Antonio area. So much to do in this area, and all of it practically on your doorstep. Only comment I would make is that one day lots of monkeys came for a visit (which was really cool), but the kitchen staff did feed them a banana which I don't think is appropriate as these are wild animals, who should not be tamed. That would be my only comment to the hotel, staff should be discouraged from doing that.
Apart from that, a really nice experience.
