The "claim to fame" for the hotel is that the working girls (which are legal in CR) come frequently to the Hotel. This is nice for single guys like me but what isn't is all that comes with it. Whether it be the padding of your bar bills or constant thefts from the girls themselves. Some would say this is "par for the course" but the management does little to nothing to stop it. When you report it they seem annoyed that you would bother them with such BS. If you go to the police you will find yourself answering questions like you had something to do with it. People have all types of advice about when you go there like not using your credit cards or using them but whatever you do there seems they are well acquainted on getting the best of you. Recently I went there and spent an hour at the bar. The next morning I woke up to 500$ dollars worth bills on the credit card I used. I went there 7 am that morning and asked for a manager after being told that I would have to wait till after 11 am I was shown a payment processing room that was converted from a regular hotel room. In there they showed me the charge receipts from the night before, all the signatures were different! They told me they would review the tape and call me. They never did, however, the next night when I went to the club the manager told me I was not welcome to use my CC I told him that I didn't plan too he then told me that I was not welcome there and escorted me from the premises. All the charges have mysteriously vanished from my CC record - so it seems they realize what's going on there. I would like to credit Face Book group xpats in costa rica for everything I posted here was posted there which got thousands and thousands of views and most likely inspired them not to charge me when I pointed it out to them

From Beginning to the End. The Transportation set up by Hotel Cocal with Christian as an excellent driver with beverages available. To the Hotel itself. Excellent Rooms just offshore from the ocean. A Wonderful bar area that turns into a night club in the evening with music and party atmosphere. A nice sports bar and lounge upstairs if want be in a more relaxing area instead of the main bar. Great food all day long from breakfast to dinner. I recommend the steak. Juli is your girl if you are looking for any excursions. Go for the crocodile excursion. It will get your heart pumping when you see these massive crocs in their natural environment. I had so much fun I didn't get a chance to try out the casino. That will be on my next trip. This place was a home away from home with everything at your door. I look forward to visiting Hotel Cocal again. And many more times after that. Thank You for the Great Experience. Till Next Time.
