Breathtaking

Reviewed Aug 11, 2023
This is probably the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. The pictures don't do it justice. When we arrived and saw our surroundings we were really mindblown. Incredible that you walk down a driveway and you're on a busy Ubud street and just a short walk away this paradise hides.
Luckily we don't have any mobility issues.. We were in Deluxe Suite 208 (the Rosie room). It's on the very bottom level of the hotel so we got to do every single stair when we wanted to go up the main lobby or the restaurant. It's a bit rough; even if you're in shape. Stop a long the way for photo breaks so ppl don't know you're about to have a heart attack, lol.

The food in the restaurant was good. Not amazing but good (we were maybe spoiled by our previous hotel in the food department). The espressos, cappucinos etc are amazing and are not included in your breakfast which was a little on the cheap side in my opinion. One thing we would have really loved was if room service opened early (they only open at 11) to be able to have a quiet breakfast or a non-instant coffee on our beautiful jungle balcony.

Also, we ordered room service dinner one night and they said they'd be back to collect the dishes.. They didn't come back till past noon the next day so our balcony table was covered in dirty dishes and eventually flies and ants. It would have been nice to have a prompt clean up. Not a huge crisis but a bit annoying.

We each had a 4 handed massage and it was INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend. A little more expensive than a street massage obviously but still worked out to about $45 USD- much much cheaper than that service at home.

The rates here are very reasonable for what you get. The view will change your soul, honestly. We slept with the doors wide open which was beautiful, as long as you're cool with roosters and all kinds of birds early AM. I would definitely recommend. Location is great too, about a 25 minute walk to central Ubud, but there are many restaurants, bars, scooter rentals, ATMs etc all within a couple of steps from the main entrance.

The room was very nice and so clean. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well during each night. The service was excellent and nice, and the staff was very helpful, attentive and friendly. The pool was clean and we enjoyed it after a long day of visiting. The breakfast was generous and a lot of variety with good fruit and also more European options like mozzarella, cold cuts and cereal. Coffee was excellent! We had a beautiful view, lots of plants and flowers. You can walk around the villa, they have a lush garden and colourfull alleys.

This resort was lovely and better than expected. Service was efficient, welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was very tasty with a mixture of buffet and al a cart menu. Loved the selection of fresh juices. This place is an architectural wonder and interesting to explore. Very serene with rooms looking out across river gorge. Lots of places to relax, read and enjoy the quiet (other than the sounds of the rushing river and birds). Shuttle service to central Ubud works well if you want to leave paradise and inject yourself into the busyness of the town. There are lots of stairs and vertical elevation changes as the resort is laid out on the side of a river valley, so if you are not so mobile getting to the pool will be a challenge. Might also want to arrange a room near the lobby. Would come back here again if staying in Ubud.

Hotel is a gem in the middle of Ubud Jungle. Pool area is a masterpiece, rooms spacious.

The best thing is the staff and the services provided (spa, laundry, transport, they even placed in a tv device for me to watch UCL final in the room) Their level of hospitality has been unprecedented. They have Massive respect for customers

Well done to Okta and the team. Food tasty, you can see they try their best

This is our second stay and it won't be our last.
We stayed in a deluxe junior suite and paid $130 per night with breakfast.
Make sure you upgrade to the Junior Suite - they are really worth the few extra dollars

Pros
We were very lucky to be given a room at the top of the hotel just near reception (Ratna) so we didn't have to struggle with the 130 steps to the pool (yes, we counted them :) )
Most of the guests were much younger than us so this might not worry them too much.
Our room was wonderful with a heavenly view down into the valley from our big balcony.
Cooked to order breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Very quiet - we slept well.
A good range of restaurants within walking distance.
Outstanding value for such a divine hotel, one of our favourites !

Cons
I honestly can't think of any. 5 stars.

The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful. We booked the honeymoon suite and were completely taken away on how beautiful the room was. They even decorated the tub with a flower petal artwork which was absolutely amazing. We really enjoyed our stay at the resort.

One minor criticism was their restaurant. While the food was very good for "western taste", I was a bit disappointed that they didn't offer any authentic Indonesian cuisine. Whatever they offered had a "western" fare to it. Maybe that is something that many tourists enjoy, but for my own tastes, I really enjoy authentic Indonesian cuisine. It is one of the many reasons to visit Bali.

One tip though. You definitely need to be in good physical condition to get around the resort. Many of the rooms are accessible by steep steps (not a handicap friendly place), so you have to be able to good mobility in order to get around. it's landscape of the property is what adds to the beauty of the resort.

Absolutely Wonderful!
