I've been coming to viva for many years and will keep on coming because the staff are the best
Ok so if you are a fussy English eater I can assure you that the all inclusive is not for you they don't have chips nuggets and burgers 7 days a week (if u want that then go to mc donalds which is 5 minutes down the road ) but they do have fish meat and chicken, rice a lovely salad and bread selection, this is a small hotel compared to many of the big ones so no there's isn't going to be 30 different dishes for you to choose from , there will be a small selection of decent food , myself being a fussy eater sometimes struggle with food there but if I ask they have always cooked me some chips or eggs or something which cost me no more than 70p , so before you judge this hotel just remember you probably paid 20 quid a night to stay there all inclusive and what u get for this amount of money is actually a bloody bargain , rooms are always clean , staff are so helpful and always willing to make ur stay the best they can , the pool is clean with someone willing to entertain you all day long if you want them too
The shows at night time are always worth a watch and if you want to go out there is a free bus that will take you to old market and some other places
Animation team will always get a big shout out from me as come 11pm if you want to go to the club they will take you , they arrange taxi there and back getting in costs and normally a free drink or 2 for about 15 - 20 quid
Going to the clubs alone as girls isn't safe out there but the Animation team will look after you like their life depends on it and make sure you have the best time and get home in one piece
Thee hotel has its free bus to the beach and pick up , the beach is lovely and good for a bit of snorkeling but if u miss the bus u can always get a taxi for 100gp witch is about £2.50

I love viva sharm and not because it's the biggest and best because yes it's a bit tired but they are always working on things to make it better but because the staff are amazing, the rooms are large and comfortable, the pools are really nice but most of all I feel safe here and I'm always looked after I could never fault their hospitality
So for the money you pay and what u actually do get is amazing
I thank you all at viva sharm you do a great job

First of all, ignore the moaners. If you book one of the cheapest 3* All Inc available don't expect a 5*hotel. What you will get is comfort, cleanliness, great pools and gardens and the nicest most helpful staff you'll ever meet. Worth every penny! Great pub-like bar with football on TV, and entertainment most evenings. A free bus will take you to a choice of 2 beaches which gives you a chance to visit the famous Farsha bar or snorkel off the beautiful coral reef further up the coast. Pay a few £ and you can use the lovely beach with a 10 minute walk down the road from the hotel. Taxis are cheap and plentiful if you want a trip to Old town or Soho. Haggle the price, and you'll get a bargain. As you are in Egypt hopefully you won't be surprised to get Egyptian food! Nuggets and chips or bacon sandwiches won't be happening! Enjoy Beautiful breads, salad, fresh veg, rice, soup chicken and fish, amazing burgers and koftes. Lovely omlettes and pancakes for breakfast and BBQ most evenings . Pool towels are available and the pool bar is open daily for tea coffee and cocktails. Bottled Beer is payable but very cheap in the hotel. We had a great time for 10 days, made great friends with the staff and would return tomorrow given the chance!

Room tip: Read the info given when you check in! Give the staff the chance to help you if you're not happy!

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Viva Sharm in Sharm El Sheikh Egypt an experience we are not likely to forget for a long time.
We booked this sojourn on an All-Inclusive basis so let’s start there THIS IS NOT AN ALL-INCLUSIVE HOTEL.
We have been to many hotels all over the world and have always gone All-Inclusive the offering at this hotel is in no shape or form All-Inclusive.
The meal times are as normal 7-10 am for breakfast,1-3pm for lunch and 7-9pm for dinner.
No snacks or food outside these times unless you pay for them. This caused us to avail ourselves of the local supermarket on a daily basis.
The main problem was the drinks element this consisted of local spirits, Vodka,Gin,Rum,Tequila and Whisky and juices, Diet Coke ran out pretty quickly and was only replaced when we directly complained to the manager.
BEER was not included and was available on a chargeable basis the same applied to WINE which was not included and was charged by the glass.
We have never been at an All-Inclusive hotel that did not include Beer and Wine as part of the offering.
Oh, and the alcohol provided was only available between the hours 10am to 10pm every day after that all of it was chargeable.
One night the Vodka and Gin ran out before 9:30pm and we asked for a white wine as replacement which we were then promptly charged for, all transactions were cash only by the way.
The Hotel had 2 bars the Pool Bar and the Rose & Crown Inside Bar, only problem only one of the bars was staffed at a time as there was only one barman, so from 10am to 12:30 the pool bar was manned then he shut it down and spent the rest of the day at the inside bar.
Entertainment was pretty standard for this class of hotel the day and night entertainment guys, we can’t call it a team as there was only 1 person in the day and 1 person at night, both called Mahmoud tried there best.
Moving on to the Food situation, the choice of menu was actually abysmal, loads of salad at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Breakfast no cold milk the only milk available was powdered and made up with hot water so good luck with your cereal. Also, no recognizable butter, some rolls and bread next to the filthiest toaster I have ever seen, it had 8 slots but according to a staff member only 3 were working!
Hot food consisted of 2 types of potato, something that looked like chilli and cabbage and hot dog pieces every morning (none of them actually hot by the way). Thank God for the omelette station and the Chef there because that’s what we lived on every morning.
Lunch more salad, warm watery soup, 3 types of potatoes, under cooked vegetables and chicken and some jelly or small cakes for dessert.
Dinner more salad, warm watery soup, 3 types of potatoes, under cooked vegetables and chicken and jelly or small cakes for dessert.
At lunch and dinner every day the only meat available was Chicken, always wings or drumsticks, sometimes in the form of burgers and sausages this was the only part of the menu that you could not serve yourself it was doled out by kitchen staff and the portions were meagre, burgers were the size of a rich tea biscuit and you were given 2 finger sized sausages you were also given pasta if you stood in the queue for it every night.
The fabric of the hotel is really dated and needs a freshening up during our visit many of our fellow guests had terrible experiences with the condition of their rooms our accommodation was tired but kept clean and tidy so we can’t comment further on that.
The only plus points we had where the majority of the staff were great very friendly and helpful when they were asked, the reception staff, the bar manager and Mohammed our room cleaner all deserve the highest praise.
This hotel is obviously geared towards the Russian market, Google translate was used every day to explain or ask for help, a lot of the staff struggled with our Scottish accents.
Our visit to the Viva Sharm will live long in our memory we have had some great holidays so we were probably due a bad one.
So, in conclusion if you want an All-Inclusive experience avoid this hotel.

Where do I start

Arrived and was greeted by the receptionist well unhelpful was a understatement checked us in didn’t tell anything about the all inclusive just said here is your room key

Rooms needs demolishing and rebuilding dirty ripped curtains filth marks on the walls rusty fixtures in the bathroom I know Egypt is a poor country but come on sort it out

Now the all inclusive is literally disgusting
Went to get a beer and was rudely told by the barman the contract doesn’t include beer or wine you should of been told that by the receptionist well he didn’t with his rudeness I never went back in the bar in the 14 days I was there

Food
horrible very limited choices meat pasta or plain rice or fresh bread or salad that’s it

meat if available was rationed to one piece each and you are looked at rudely for wanting more it’s supposed to all inclusive not prison rations

On top of this food caused diarrhoea for most of the holiday and forced us to eat out it

Only water or juice during meals nothing else

Drinks are just the same
only thing included in all inclusive is local spirits which tasted awful same goes for the local branded cola tasted like nasty cheap value cola why no Pepsi it’s cheap 2.4 litres in the local market is 28egp which peanuts

Cocktails cost extra even though it was made with local spirits

SO REALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY RUDE STAFF APPALLING FOOD
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I THOUGHT I WOUOD TRY SHARM EL SHEIKH BUT SHOULD OF GONE BACK TO HURGHADA MILES BETTET

Room tip: Area is a little out the way but small parade of shops with a McDonald’s mobile phone/simcard and pharmacy is 10mins walk away

First review in a long time as a single traveller, and my 20th visit to Egypt (So I have seen good and bad over the years) this one is certainly not by all means the best, but all things considered, it's what you're willing to accept as acceptable, but on the other hand, if you consider it is taking hotels a long time to recoup COVID losses, however, the question is "to what extent do you cut cost?".

Location - The hotel is situated a 25-minute drive from the airport and a 15-minute walk from the hotel to the beach. However, there is a free shuttle bus each morning, which returns for lunch. Your all-inclusive wristband will get you free sunbeds at the beach.

Reception - check-in is quick, depending on group size, and the porters are prompt, the exchange rate is pretty good from a sterling perspective (at the time of writing exchange rate is £1 =2) so £1 or equivalent is enough of a gratuity.

Room - I was staying in room 212, (my comments only relate to this room, as I cannot comment on the rest of the hotel However, having spoken to a few guests, it seems a familiar picture throughout) it has a balcony facing the road and it is only two doors down from the hotel Spa, which I have to say are excellent for the price you pay (head, back and foot massage £20)

All rooms have air-con, basic furniture, beds, chairs, a table, dressing table, wardrobe, fridge etc, but I needed to ask for a safe, recommended for peace of mind, especially as I found that the cleaners do not lock the sliding windows onto the balcony! The furniture comes across as rustic, but the bathroom is another matter. The paint peeling off the ceiling, the toilet seat won't stay up, shower rail hanging on by a thread. It was not ideal, but it did for my needs, especially as the room is only a base.

On the surface, the rooms are cleaned daily, and the cleaners do a good job, however, if you look at the detail, light switches and wall lights and floors, trailing TV wires, and curtains off rail tracks, you may think otherwise. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't it, but a room to sleep and shower, is acceptable, with clean sheets and towels, and remember the mosquito protection, it is advisable to have some or buy some spray from the attached supermarket, it's excellent stuff. The shop also sells oils that the local airborne pests hate and seem to work well.

Restaurant- All-inclusive, 3 meals a day, Breakfast 07:00-09:00, Lunch 13:00-15:00 and dinner 19:00 - 21:00. The menu is very basic, in my opinion, and even though there are labels, these do not contain any allergen information. Maybe I've been spoilt at other hotels in Egypt, even with the same star rating, but coffee and tea are not done by machine but in coffee pots. There is one juice and water, but there is no bar in the restaurant. You need to ask a waiter to go get soft and alcoholic drinks from the bar (lunch & dinner). The waiters, however, are very attentive and will get anything for you (I had to ask each morning for a simple thing like butter for rolls or toast, as it wasn't available on the counter.) Overall, I wasn't a fan and even got an Egyptian belly for a couple of days, which happened twice, and I stayed clear of beef and fish, the normal culprits. However, it's the hotel staff that make Viva Sharm the place it is (aside from a few that looked consistently miserable) always eager to please.

Pool/Animation team - The pool area was quiet in the mornings (November), with a majority choosing to go to the beach, so there was no need to rush for the sunbeds, and the pool was kept clean by the towel attendants (you have a towel card in exchange for a towel) and the sunshades can be raised if requested. My biggest bug, if you excuse the pun, is the number of flies and mosquitos around the pool area, it did get to be a real issue for me, but the real lack of flycatchers was abundantly clear as they were non-existent. Other hotels I've stayed in have been fumigated daily and have fly traps around the pool area (simple, cheap and effective) The pool with a bar (opens at 10:00 - sundown) that offers some drinks (No Beer or Wine?! at any bar in the hotel), but soft drinks, spirits, and coffee and tea.
The animation team was just one man, Mamood, who was the life and soul of the hotel. He spoke to everyone daily and tried his hardest to get me in the pool (it was too cold for me) or join him for pool aerobics, volleyball, darts, etc. He was also the DJ, very entertaining with his pool dances (one criticism, maybe a bit too loud), and he even led the evening events, which were judged by how many people were in the hotel. During my week, we had no entertainment brought in due to a lack of residents. So discos and drinks seemed the way to go. However, a good option was to jump in a taxi to absorb the nightlife somewhere locally.

Bazaar/shop - attached to the hotel entrance area is a small convenience store where you can buy drinks, snacks, creams, etc, and a bazaar for swimming stuff/gifts and oils, etc The owner is very helpful and will not rip you off. if you need medication, then if you walk right out of the hotel, about 5 minutes down the road is a pharmacist. I needed some tablets that I had on a prescription that I forgot to pack, and they had them available over the counter. There is also a Pizzeria 100 yards down from the hotel, and at the top of the road to the left is a bigger supermarket and a dive centre.

WiFi - this can only be accessed in the reception area. It seemed most people's port of call after food. user:viva pass:123456.

The hotel was a multicultural unit with English, Russian, German, and Egyptian holidaymakers.

Overall - The hotel gardens and paths are kept clean and tidy, and well maintained with the exterior looking clean and fresh, but if you look past the hotel's inner tiredness you are not too bothered about the food variety, or being directly on a beach, then this is the ideal venue, especially as you can get anywhere (Naama bay, Soho Sq. Etc) by taxi, which is in good supply outside the hotel.
Excursions can be booked by coral excursions that visit the hotel, or there is an excursion booking place 150 yards down the road on the left, but look on Trip Advisor before you arrive, it will give you the best and worst and consider the exchange rate for the real cost and what you get on the trip, and for taxis consider what is a fair price and stick to it.

This trip needed total relaxation for me with little distraction, especially as I was still recovering from an illness (Shingles), so I was more than happy to laze around the pool all day, reading, sleeping and listening to podcasts.

On a side note, COVID is still out there, UK cases have increased, and I didn't see any preventative measures like the cleaning of things we all touch around the hotel. Chair arm handles table tops, sunbed toppers, and the pool floor area were NOT washed down regularly. Not even the sunbed tables had been cleaned for the entire week I was in residence. Maybe the pool attendants could do more around the pool other than be on their phones or blow whistles just for the sake of it. It's only a suggestion, but the little things matter.

So, out of all my experiences, would I come back here? Probably not. The team, for the most part, are great, attentive, and happy. But when I eat the same thing every day, due to personal tolerances I still get a dodgy stomach. (TWICE), you would question the hygiene standards (are they using bottled water to wash everything?), and to have no entertainment, then people are forced to go look for it. We also had holidaymakers book out early and move to nearby hotels, and even in one case a couple only lasted one night and then moved to another hotel, which speaks volumes about the basic needs of people's expectations. (I suppose it could question what holidaymakers consider would be an acceptable standard, and what is the minimum 'all-inclusive' expectation? I do believe in these times of the global cost of living issues, and Egyptians devalued £, you need to give holidaymakers a reason to stay in the hotel, entertain them, have a definite day/evening entertainment agenda, have an information pack in the rooms, all easy stuff, but the management team needs to work Smarter, not harder, and it doesn't need to cost the earth either.

Footnote... After speaking to one of the team members in the hotel, the change needed seems to have been recognised, and as a manager myself, getting the foundation done with basic, hygiene, maintenance, security and cleaning, can only be a good thing, and balancing perception and cost is no easy feat, but if it's seen, it can only be positive.

Room tip: Consider excursions before leaving home, see trip advisor. Considering the exchange rate and value of money, Egyptians prefer $, € or £GBP over their currency.
