The worst place ever dirty dirty dirty u never get what ur paying for
Our stay at the Sharm Plaza Hotel was absolutely horrible. It is definitely not a 5 star hotel. After reading the top reviews the hotel seems to be amazing, however, this could not be farther from the truth. It all started with are arrival at the hotel. The reception was not welcoming and was only focused on making us pay as fast as possible. There was no warm welcome after our long and exhausting trip to Sharm El-Sheikh. No drinks or small talk. The receptionist told us to handover the passports and pay as fast as possible. I noticed, however, that the price was different than I had agreed on on booking.com. Naturally I had some questions about this. The receptionist literally told me that he did not care and that I had to pay. While I was asking him questions he kept setting up the card terminal to pay. I told him that I wanted to discuss with my wife first so we sat down somewhere in the reception. At this time my wife noticed how dirty the walls and the floor were, it was terrifying. That with the fact that the reception was being very rude we decided to look for a different hotel. The receptionist kept coming up to us and kept telling us to pay. As me and my wife were exhausted from our trip we decided to just get it over with and we paid. The receptionist dissapeared and as I would assume from a 5 star hotel at least someone would help us with our multiple bags. After I asked the other receptionist multiple times she decided to call for someone to help us. The reception was really far away from the room and for some reason the person that carried the bags decided to make us walk outside in the burning sun because the shaded route had “a lot of stairs” as he put it. After we arrived at the room we were shocked by the state it was in. First I had to pay the person that carried our bags as he refused to leave without getting some money. After that me and my wife examined the room. The room was absolutely disgusting and terrible. The floor was dirty, the beds were too small, the locker was not working, mosquitos everywhere, the lights were not working properly, there was no way to reach the reception, the AC was not working, the only option was to cool the room down to a very unpleasant temperature and on top of that the wires were not covered and the risk of being electrocuted was very real , the bathroom was dirty, the bidet was not clean and after every shower the bathroom would be filled with water. After me and my wife tried to sleep a bit we decided to go and have a bite. That brings me to the next part, namely the food. The restaurant was filthy. Waiters were rude. The choice in food was very limited. Everytime I would ask for something it would be out of stock. The placemats were dirty and had stains on them. Drinks were served in paper cups that would be completely dirty. Whenever I would ask waiters or staff to bring something to the table they would say “right away” and then I would not see them again. They completely forget that you ordered something. After I went outside I’ve seen something that honestly would be worth closing the hotel over. I found a cook smoking a cigarette over the food and when he finished the cigarette he put it out in the barbecue, IN WHICH FOOD WAS STILL BEING MADE. After that me and my wife decided to sit at the outside bar, but we had to leave after 5 minutes because the place was invested with mosquitos. Of course I understand that outside areas will have mosquitos, my point is that they did not try to do anything about it, no mosquito attracting lights or scents. Every night I was being stung at least 20 times. The next day we decided to try out the beach/sea part. This was the best part of the hotel and I think that is because they did not try to enhance or touch it. There was however one big negative and that was the life guard. As i speak Arabic I could understand anything he would say. The way he was talking about the female guests was not pretty and borderline harrasment. On top of that he kept asking me to exchange some Euros for Egyptian pounds with him. The next morning we went to see what the breakfast had to offer. I wish I had not woken up specifically for this, because the breakfast was horrible. Everything was undercooked, even the eggs. The chef confidently put a liquid egg on my plate. The only thing that I felt was save to eat was the bread, so that is basically what I have eaten during the whole stay. When I left our table to get some water for my wife I came back to find out that a waiter had been making some questionable remarks in the way he spoke to her. As I did not want to get stung by the mosquitos again we decided to go out of the hotel and see what Sharm El-Sheikh had to offer. However, this was not as easy as i thought as the hotel did not allow taxi’s to pass the gates. This resulted in us having to walk all the way to the gate to reach the taxi. This happened multiple times. The all around mood of the staff was very rude and irritated. Whenever I would walk around the complex I would find staff members just calling their friends, playing music on their phones or just in general doing things on their phones. For a 5 star hotel I felt that this was very unprofessional behaviour. Multiple restaurants a la carte restauranrs were closed, while the reception told us that they would be open. Multiple swimming pools were closed. One day I needed medicine from the on site pharmacy only to find out that it too was closed. Only until after three colleagues tried to ring up the doctor he said he would arrive in 3 minutes. These three minutes turned into 20 after which a very unprofessional employee was being rude with me over the type of medicine I wanted and he charged me 20 times the price outside the hotel, which I truly doubt was the real price. Whenever we would eat at an a la carte restaurant staff would try to push the paid options on us while our stay was all-inclusive. When I got to the bar at the reception I found the employee behind the bar calling with his wife on a video call. Instead of hanging up or putting the call on hold to help us he just acted like we did not exist. Later he served us while still being on the call and made the cups all wet and sticky from the outside. The toilets all over the hotel were smelly and dirty. Our last day we met two other guests staying at the hotel. We started talking about our experiences at the hotel and we found out that they were having a very similar experience. Later on when we took a taxi the driver was shocked as soon as we told him what hotel we were staying at and he told us that the Sharm Plaza Hotel is locally known as the absolute worst hotel in town and that it is widely known that they fake their reviews
