This was our second time staying at Hotel Tiare Tahiti and this time we opted for the slightly less cheap (but still cheap) harbor view room with balcony. We appreciated the view and it made a big difference in making the room feel nicer (in spite of the less than posh decor). It was also surprisingly quiet, considering we were staying there on a Saturday night in the middle of town.
Amenieties are minimal--no hair dryer, washcloths, safe or toiletries (other than soap and combined shampoo-conditioner), but there was a hot water pot that we would have used to make coffee (we brought our own) if we hadn't had to leave at 6am to catch our flight home. The lady at the front desk arranged a taxi for us the night before and it was waiting when we got down stairs at 5:55am.
Speaking of taxis, we actually took a taxi from the ferry dock to Hotel Tiare Tahiti upon our arrival from Moorea. The fare was 15xpf, which is a little high for the short distance, but understandable since drivers have to make a living and we also had big suitcases that had to be loaded and unloaded. It was worth it to us.
