Traveling on a budget

Reviewed Apr 28, 2023via mobile
Stayed here because it was inexpensive and we’re familiar with the area. We booked a standard ocean view room and were place in Room 5 which is on the first floor overlooking the roof of the restaurant downstairs. You can sort of see the ocean through the palm trees but not truly an “ocean view”. The room itself was large and the bed was comfortable. You get 2 towels for the whole room, no washcloths or hand towels. Rooms was clean but this is an older hotel so don’t expect frills. The wi-fi was nonexistent in the part of the hotel that we were in. The rooms have no safe for your belongings. No pool at this property; spa on the 5th floor terrace was closed for maintenance. You get a 10% discount at Si Señor! downstairs. Their food and drinks are good. As a guest of the hotel you are able to use the lounge chairs on the beach in front of the restaurant; however, they fill up quick and you may want to try the restaurant next door, La Palapa which has OUTSTANDING food, drinks and service! For details about La Palapa, read my review for them. All in all, a clean & comfortable place to lay your head down in a wonderful part of town. No bells, no whistles, no frills BUT very affordable! Would definitely stay here again if traveling on a budget.

I was staying on the 4th floor in a room facing the street. Apart from one night, when somebody played the trumpet rather loud, noise wasn’t a problem at all. The room had all necessary amenities and everything was in working order, including air condition and the safe. However, if I was to stay at the hotel again I certainly would look for a room with balcony facing the sea as the view seems stunning. There’s a rooftop terrace, where I really enjoyed spending time, watching people at the beach, and the sunset. The hotel has its age but is well maintained. The lift behaves slightly peculiar; it tends to jump before the door opens. Some fellow hotel guests and myself got a little fright when using it the first time. All staff have been friendly and helpful throughout my stay – many thanks! The hotel is located directly at the beach but the masses seem to prefer to stay a bit further up and down the beach. There is a nice restaurant (Coco’s Kitchen) around the corner with great breakfast options, little grocery stores are plenty and it never was a problem to flag down a taxi in the area, no matter what time of day.

Booked thru a site- first night (late arrival) was in a lower quality room with 2 single beds. BUT, the deskclerk said he could upgrade me to a room with a king bed and a partial ocean view the next day. More tham filled his promise! A wonderful room- king bed, incredible shower (that's important to me) and an incredible view from the balcony- more than a partial view of the ocean, there was a fantastic view of the iconic pier. Add to that incredible, friendly service, and wonderful, helpful maids, one of whom did wonderfl work leaving towel animals on the bed. I felt so welcomed, and so at home. Bravo!

Room tip: Because it's on the ocean, and the other side on Amapas street, it can be a little noisy- but I grew up in NYC. I loved it.

Great older hotel.
Location is a 5.
Good price, clean and good service.
Rooms are nice, but limited closet space, and small bathroom.
Maid service on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday was excellent. The rest of the week was marginal.
Kitchenette was limited, but worked for our purposes. Mostly used it for coffee & beverages.
We would definitely stay here again.

We were under the impression that this property had a pool, unfortunately it does not. It has one very small, empty and unuseable pool on the roof and no other pool. Our room was quite small and dark. However, the ocean view balcony was lovely. Location was great.

Our family visited over Thanksgiving. This hotel is in a great location for visiting Old Town Vallarta in Zona Romántica. There her tons of shops, restaurants, bars, the beach within a few blocks. This area was very safe and we walked everywhere.

This hotel is a little older and lacking in some amenities/upgrades but, we only slept there so it was perfect for our family. We had ocean front rooms which overlooked the bay and Los Muertos Pier. The mini fridge was great for trips to the Oxxo across the street. The balconies were a nice size with tables/chairs, mini oven/cooktop and sink. Si Senor is below so there was activity late into the night but, I travel with ear plugs so no issue for me. I would DEFINITELY stay here again. Gervais at the front desk was super helpful!
