We are just back from our fourth stay in the Hotel Margherita, and we expect to make more visits in the future as we have fallen in love with this hotel. In contrast to the noise and bustle of Amalfi and Positano, Praiano is a haven of tranquillity with a beautiful church. There are fine views from the hotel which is on a hill. The hotel is a family-run establishment with beautiful and spotless tiled floors and friendly and helpful staff, and although it is not the cheapest in the area, represents excellent value for money. The breakfasts are plentiful and delicious, and the hotel restaurant has a first-rate gourmet dinner menu; it is favoured not only by hotel guests but also by people from outside. The staff are always ready with helpful suggestions for guests planning to visit famous places in the neighbourhood, such as Ravello, Pompei and Ercolano, and they are happy to make bookings to visit local attractions like the Mozzarella cheese factory or the lemon farm. The hotel offers cooking classes run by the owner's Mama where guests can learn how to prepare local delicacies; we are still enjoying her recipes at home and can highly recommend them. The local bus stop for Positano is in front of the hotel, and there is another stop a short walk from the hotel front door, with services to Amalfi in one direction and Sorrento in the other. It is possible to request a lift to the bus stop down the hill.
