Affordable and spectacular location

Review of Plaka Hotel
Reviewed May 24, 2024via mobile
The Plaka hotel was fantastic, basic but clean (very important to me) sooo affordable and value for money, I had a standard room with my sister, there were tea/coffee making facilities with a little fridge to store the snacks you might want… the breakfast buffet was superb, absolutely everything you could ever want and more, staff at the Plaka were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much bother… but, I must say, the absolute standout was the location, right in the heart of everything, metro and sightseeing buses right on the doorstep, and the view from rooftop bar/restaurant was breathtaking, the acropolis all lit up, just gorgeous…
I am planning on returning to Athens and the Plaka Hotel will be my first choice…. Stunning 5 star at 3 star prices

The hotel location was fabulous and the Roof top bar was the highlight. I was very disappointed with my room. It was on the first floor, did not have a great view and was very dark and dingy. The room needs a revamp. Maybe if I was on a higher floor with a view of the outside sights my experience would be different. The staff were lovely and very helpful and breakfast was ok.

Room tip: Its great if you are going to be out all day and just sleep there.

We loved this hotel right in the heart of Plaka. We were minutes in walking distance to all the highlights in Athens. The rooftop bar was excellent. The drinks were great and the view of the Acropolis at night was stunning. We knew we would be so tired after our travel day getting to Athens, and being able to sit on the rooftop and enjoy the view before an early bedtime was such a treat.

The rooms were good, too. We (two adult couples) stayed in a family connecting room, and it was nice to be able to chat with our group, but also have privacy. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Small but very nice hotel right in the historic district. Breakfast included. Easy walk to the Agora area. Staff very nice. We spent one night prior to a cruise and the morning we were leaving, a lady stopped by our table while we were having breakfast and asked if we needed help with transportation to the pier. We thanked her, told her noon, which gave us some shopping time, and when we got back the taxi was waiting..

Room tip: Thought it might be noisy at night, but when we closed the window and curtains, there was no problem.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel, perfectly located in the heart of Athens. Our room was comfortable, featuring a small balcony with a partial view of the Acropolis. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, greeting us warmly at breakfast each morning and offering assistance and advice. The breakfast itself was amazing—I’m still dreaming of the cheese pies. The hotel is ideally situated, close to all the major sights, yet remarkably quiet. Everything we wanted to see and do was within walking distance, and there were plenty of cafes and shops nearby. The open-air rooftop bar, with its stunning views and friendly staff, was a highlight. Our stay in Athens was truly wonderful.

What a find. Truly the best location in Athens. Outside the door of the hotel, you have access to shops, restaurants, gelato, churches and street vendors. We felt very safe in this neighborhood. The hotel itself is not the Ritz, but what a choice of the cost. The room was good, not amazing just good. Could use a little updating but for 1 night stay and the opportunity to see Athens it was perfect. We had a room with a view of the acropolis, go for it, it is a once in a lifetime view. The roof top restaurant and bar were absolutely great. Food was good, drinks were perfect and the view to die for. Sunset was gorgeous - perfect night at the end of a perfect vacation. The staff was outstanding with helpful hints - they were so kind.
