Great stay in heart of Athens

Review of Plaka Hotel
Reviewed Sep 11, 2022via mobile
We were two couples that just spent a great three days in Athens at the Plaka hotel. The hotel was well located for walking to all the major sites. There are so many options for eating all within an easy making it even better to vacation without a car. The roof top bar has a wonderful view of the acropolis, with well priced drinks and food. The rooms were good sized and the hotel was very clean, the breakfast was well done with lots of options. One of the best things the staff were all amazing. So friendly and willing to help in any way they can thank you all for a wonderful stay. If you are looking for a great affordable hotel in the heart of Athens I would recommend this hotel. I would definitely book again. !

This is great value no frills type hotel situated in a great location to explore the main tourist areas of Athens. You have some many shops, bars and restaurants right on your doorstep. The Acropolis and National Archaeological museum are with a 20 minute walk.

The staff are excellent and one of the near things about hotel. My room had very good air conditioning but there were issues getting safe to work. However, this is very minor issue.

Finally, breakfast has basic continental affair

Wonderful hotel. I took my dad on a surprise trip to Athens for a birthday present. I picked this great little hotel which is in a wonderful location for exploring the city. It is close to everything and has all the basics you need. Amazing shower facilities, beds cleaned and fresh towels everyday. Breakfast was gorgeous too, buffet style with fresh fruit, greek salads, pastries, hot food and lots of different drinks in which you just helped yourself. Amazing roof terrace with views of the acropolis which had a bar with readonably priced drinks. Very clean and staff were so kind and helpful. We had such a memorable stay here it had everything we needed as a base to go and explore. Plaka itself is gorgeous with lots of bars , shops, restaurants and historical sites near by . I am an artist and thoroughly enjoyed how arty the city was with lots of great places to visit including the contempary gallery and all the graffiti art of the city. We stayed for 5 nights and that was plenty to see everything.

Thank you so much.

Good hotel in a fantastic location. The reception and lobby is small and the rooms basic but clean and well maintained. All the required amenities are present and can’t complain. The breakfast is fresh and plentiful and what you would expect in a 3 star hotel. The location is amazing with close proximity to all sites, restaurants, cafes. The rooftop bar and cafe has great views of the Acropolis, reserve a table in advance to get the best views. Would recommend!

Room tip: Store your luggage if checking in early or checking out late.

I am so glad I chose this hotel for my first night ever in Athens.

The receptionists were extremely helpful, friendly and polite and the hotel itself was easy to find. I walked from the KTEL station in Athens after travelling from Kalamata, which took around 40 minutes (by choice). The hotel is bang in the centre of the main touristy district of Plaka.

The flea market and Monastiraki square are about two minutes away on foot. Areopagus Hill (well worth visiting) is about a seven minute walk, and the Acropolis, Parthenon etc are all within walking distance too.

The room itself had a spectacular view of the Acropolis and, especially at night, the window looked like a hung piece of art! The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning was great. The shower was spacious with high enough pressure. I had a very good night's sleep.

The rooftop bar has stunning 360° views of Athens and is well worth spending some time up there. The food and drink menu is quite expensive and the food portions are small compared to tavernas, but the views and comfort of the terrace more than compensated for that.

The breakfast was excellent and catered for all tastes. There was a large 'continental' selection and a Greek selection too. Coffee and fresh juices were available as you pleased.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel to anyone having a short break and wanting to be near the main attractions. I can imagine staying here much longer too!

I booked this hotel as my last night in Athens and immediately regretted it. I should have stayed here for my entire stay. My room was overlooking the Parthenon and that absolutely warmed my heart. The rooftop bar was an amazing place to relax, watch the sunset. The breakfast was extensive as I could see but since I had to leave for the airport very early, I could just enjoy a cup of coffee.

Downside - my room was on the top floor just under the rooftop bar. The chairs were making so much noise that I couldn't sleep. I had to go down to the reception and ask if a solution could be found as the whole idea of booking this hotel was to get some sleep. This is not something they could sort out immediately but perhaps could look into it for the future.
