Conveniently located next to the train station check-in was quick but found out that WiFi wasn’t working and only one key. When working WiFi is slow. Disappointingly we only were informed of paying city tax at check-out so could not use the benefits such as free city bus transportation. We would have appreciated it to have been informed at arrival. Especially as Lugano was experiencing nonstop rain. Apartment felt a bit worn. Upside - close to city center and cathedral.
This was a reassuring, well appointed hotel. Excellent breakfast, a small bar but with lovely drinks. So close to the station (but you wouldn't know you are!) so only 2 mins walk to get the train but also only 2 mins walk into the centre of the old town. This hotel has fantastic service and we were particularly grateful to the Night Manager Guissepie (sorry if we have your name wrong), who made us a snack late at night and gave us some fantastic advice about the area.

Everything was perfect during our 3 night stay. We had a nice sized room with a view. The restaurant was outstanding both at breakfast and dinner. We had only planned to only eat there the first night, but the food was so good and the outdoor terrace was so nice we eat there all three nights.

The outdoor terrace is a plus during warmer months and during morning and evening hours the sun is hidden by neighboring buildings leaving us with the comfi heat but no direct sunshine.

5/5 we had a overnight stay here and the accommodation was amazing along with the staff!! Hotel had all the modern conveniences but still hold it original

Review for Hotel Federale Lugano
We came to this hotel late one night after missing the last train to Lucerne. Immediately we were welcomed by the warm Guiseppe who graciously accommodated us. He was polite and comforting. The room he left us in was very clean and nice, with a balcony that overlooked the city. Since we are three, Guiseppe even brought in a third bed for us even though we could fit in the large bed in the room. Overall, we were very lucky to find such outstanding service and a fantastic place to sleep. Will come back and highly recommend with its nice view and closeness to the train station!
