Stayed for 4 nights in the mixed dorms. Felt safe the whole time, facilities were clean, and staff were very friendly/accommodating!
I would recommended staying here and would stay here again myself :)

The place was clean and tidy, good mattress, beautiful bathroom with a fresh scented shower gel/ shampoo. Breakfast buffet was affordable and had a great selection. Cool atmosphere, and yummy Japanese restaurant downstairs.

As a solo female traveler I enjoyed my stay at Barabas Hotel. The surrounding area is safe and close to the train station and tourist spots. I originally had a mixed dorm reservation but they were able to switch me into a female dorm for a few nights which was appreciated. Personally, the downsides are communal bathrooms, no air conditioning in the rooms (the fans circulate the hot air), and some faulty showers. Otherwise, Barabas ranks pretty high on my list of hostel stays. I would recommend staying here while visiting Lucerne.

The hostel is very nice, the location is perfect and the staff very welcoming and helpful.
The place has character and it was fun to sleep in an old prison cell. The room was very hot and the window small. There was a fan though.
The breakfast was good and you could order gluten-free.

What a unique place to stay! Everything was clean, the front desk was very helpful, and it’s a 10 minute walk from the train station. It you get there early, there is a place where they can keep your luggage as you go out and tour the city. The room is very simple but the beds were comfortable.

If you are interested in a good place to sleep and spot the best places near town center, this is the place. Simple accommodations but very clean, comfortable bed, excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast.
