Recently returned from a much anticipated trip to Sorrento and Il Nido was our first port of call, chosen from the great reviews and it didn't disappoint. The hotel is small charming and very relaxing with amazing views. As a family of 4 we had a quadruple/family room with balcony and wonderful sea views across the Bay of Naples, room was spotless with queen bed and 2 singles however I felt it was a little cramped for our needs and the storage space was minimal so we had to live out of our suitcases. The bathroom was good size although again no real storage space, the monsoon shower was lovely, towels were unusual very lightweight cotton not towelling but were fine and replaced daily. We enjoyed a number of meals in the lovely restaurant with once again magnificent views, the quality and prices were very good with a nice selection of very reasonable wines. The breakfast was a little haphazard as I would say the usual self service was changed to service behind the counter and the staff were under some pressure at times, however this did not detract from the amazing freshly squeezed orange juice and wonderful coffee with delicious pastries we enjoyed each morning. As the hotel is situated 5km outside the centre of Sorrento the shuttle bus service into the town was excellent, running hourly with a break in the middle of day with last service returning at 11.30pm. We enjoyed the peaceful evenings sitting in the little reception areas with an after dinner drink and were treated with great warmth and hospitality by Dino and all the staff at all times, we were most touched and appreciative when on enquiring about a taxi to our next destination Dino himself drove us into town. If you are looking for a peaceful base near Sorrento with great views and very good value clean accommodation look no further than this little "nest" (Nido)!
