We had heard great things about chef Renato and Loredana’s Barcelona restaurant Le Romane, renowned for serving quality dishes honouring the traditional Roman concept of sharing food with Italian authenticity, so we had to pay a visit.
This beautifully lit and tastefully appointed restaurant was absolutely buzzing on a Tuesday evening, and although fully booked, we were delighted that Loredana was able to find us a fantastic table in the window.
As well as offering a wide variety of innovative Pizza flavours to share, Le Romane serves Roman dishes such as Bucatini all'Amatriciana, Spaghetti quadrati Cacio e Pepe, Spaghetti alla Carbonara and many more.
We started our meal with Patate Al Cartoccio; baked potato with artichokes and cream cheese, and a basket of freshly baked Focaccia, perfect for mopping up the delicious sauce. We also had a refreshing Insalate Caprese with ripe tomatoes, mozzarella di buffala , and fragrant basil.
We then had some wonderful Gnocchi, vibrantly green with courgette & mint, and an equally tasty Risotto, piquant with radicchio and gorgonzola.
And as a tribute to the Sagrada Familia, with its towering shards of flaky millefeuille pastry reaching for the sky, the “Dolci Le Romane” is a triumph and not to be missed.
Le Romane is recognised by Ospitalità Italiana as an ambassador of Italian flavour, and it’s not hard to see why. It was a pleasure to meet chef and proprietor Renato and to enjoy the wonderful cuisine at this Barcelona gem.
