Lose the intimidating Alsatians on the roof!

This is our local and it serves good value meals and service is usually good if a little slow. Last couple of times we’ve been in and sat in the garden, we have been greeted by an aggressive Alsatian on the roof barking at every entering and especially at dogs. It’s a shame as this is a dog friend pub and the staff often bring a dog treat over.
Please just keep the guard dogs away from customers!

Hi thanks taking the time to leave a review, I can assure you that my German Shepard Sam is one of the nicest softest dogs you would ever meet, she is not a guard dog as you have stated she is our family pet and to put ‘get rid of the aggressive Alsatian’ as your headline of your review is a bit upsetting. She is our family pet and we have been here now for 5 years, lots of customers who come in the pub enjoy seeing her and she has become something of a pub mascot, so unfortunately we will not be getting rid of her. Yes she does bark, just like most dogs bark at people entering their homes, I’m sorry you find her aggressive but I can assure you she isn’t. Maybe next time you come in, I could bring her down and let you meet her so you can see how lovely she is.

Just perfect!

Had dinner here two nights in a row now, it's that good!
Highly recommend the place, good food, nice pub and far more importantly lovely, friendly and efficient staff.
Every member of the team that served us did so with a smile and exceptional manners.
Back to the food though, the salt beef burger was amazing and the small plates were just perfect, tons of choice and some little gems on there you wouldn't expect, the pretzel with beer cheese sauce is superb.
Top marks to the chefs and all the team.
We will most definitely be back!

Disappointing

both mine & my friends cutlery was weirdly shaped/bent, there was a hair in my food, my friends cider bottle arrived warm, waiting time for drinks & food was quite long, the desserts weren’t enjoyable (also served with cold custard), chewing gum stuck to the wall and no lock in the bathroom cubicle. despite all of this, the staff were friendly and provided welcoming service and the food was okay.
