This is not the first stay we do here. We have been visiting the place about twice a year for the last 5 years or so. We knew what to expect.
However, when we arrived, we were pleased to see that the main porch had been dismantled. That was our main beef, because it had been damaged more than 2 years ago and was left to agony. But now it's gone. Guests can now use the main entrance as it was designed.
The lobby is completely renovated, and is now welcoming. The lady was very welcoming. When we left the day after, the gentleman present was as kind as well.
The room we were assigned was also completely renovated. Second floor got carpet flooring (I suppose it absorb noise better), and we were told that first floor had some kind of laminated flooring.
All furniture is also new, and although is not as "modern" as some would wish, it's way better that the old style dating back 20 years ago if not more.
Our king bed had nightstand on both sides: no need to bring the chair as the extra nightstand. The luggage rack is integrated into the open clothing rack and double as the storage place for the extra bedding for the couch.
An ample amount of USB charging port shows that someone finally understood the need of such: 2 per bed side as well as a single 110V outlet, 2 in the desk lamp, and 2 ports in a 3 outlets powerbar integrated into the desk.
I am pleased to see that much outlets, as only plugging the laptop and a few wall-wart required me to bring a real "Craftman" 8 outlets powerbar in my luggage. Well, not here anymore.
I had problems plugging the laptop into the TV screen. It kept showing "no signal". I later learned it's a known problem with LG tv sets. I did not try it, but there are some YouTube videos explaining how to fix this.
We then had to rely on our tablet to watch some Netflix, and the internet was flawless. But given the few customers, I had no fears.
Carpet is brand new, and looks a bit weird on first sight, but as long as it's easy under the foot, I don't really mind.
There was a small fridge (but no freezer space) and a microwave.
The bathroom was also renovated. But flat space is still sparse on the vanity console and place to empty our wash bag is at a premium.
Sadly, and I don't know if it's the pandemic or what, but no more coffee machine in the room. You now have to go to the front desk and ask for a cup of brew. The lady at the front desk was very courteous and made coffee on demand.
Breakfast was of course not in the usual room. We had a choice of 3 "menus" to bring in our room. It's not the usual hot breakfast with eggs and sausages, but it's still better than what we had in an other Choice hotel .
Due to the Pandemic, we were like 3 guests in the place, and almost no traffic on the highway, so we had a good night.
All in all, the place is better now that it was a year ago after much needed repairs and renovations.
