I chose this location for the view and that was really the best part. The room itself did overlook the harbor but we were on the main floor so the view of the harbor was obstructed by trees. The room itself was a very odd layout with a small hallway in the center and then the bedroom and bathroom on one side and a sofa bed with the coffee machine and fridge on the other side but no door in between. Both rooms viewed the harbor. It would have been ok for a couple with young kids but the sofa bed was hard as a rock so you couldn't really use it like a couch to watch tv. We spent all of our time sitting on the bed. The bed was a comfortable sleep. We had to sign for a non-smoking room but the hallway smelled like marijuana. We also were not told until after we checked in that there would be no cleaning service for our four day stay because they are short staffed. We were late arriving by one day due to a flight delay which they didn't charge us for so that was good. The location in downtown was close to a lot of restaurants to walk to and the harbor but there are a serious number of homeless people in the area and we watched drug deals and questionable behavior out our window with no police presence. If you need to be in downtown, it is a decent hotel, but next time in Nanaimo, we'll choose a different location.
