Review of Athabasca Hotel
Reviewed Jul 12, 2021
This hotel is well located, near a few good restaurants, but none of the rooms have AC, making the room feel like an oven. Staff is nice, rooms are fairly big but no coffee machine, no microwave, no small fridge. Very cheap stay.

This hotel is very well located. Close to restaurants and little shops. Everything is walking distance. The view from the room is also very nice. We took the shared bathroom. The only issue I had was the fact that the heating in the bathroom was on VERY high and there was no way of bringing it down.

Rooms were quite small but you have your own sink- no mini fridge or microwave just a heads up. Even though the bed was comfy, it was squeaky. It is a shared bathroom though but it’s kept clean. The hotel has a cool look/theme and the bar downstairs is great.

A 1928 building that has seen many changes. No elevator (be aware); rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable; rooms are large so you have space to move around. Located in downtown, access to all by walking. Decor is elegant on its own. Ask for room with your own bathroom. Some rooms do have shared bathrooms, so make sure you ask for your own (we did not have an issue, our bedroom had its own bathroom); very clean. Enough amenities in bathroom. Do not expect microwave or coffee maker in room. Options for dinning are good, a restaurant, a lounge (games room) and a bar. Ask for room facing mountains, beautiful view.

Room tip: No elevator. 2nd floor has vending machine-ice machine; ask to be away the machines are loud. Ask for private bathroom

We loved this hotel. The vibe was great, the decorations were beautiful, the room was elegant with a view of the mountains, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the wifi was fast. Also located in the center of the town with so many shops around. The washroom/shower was shared with other guests in the same floor (of the same gender, of course) but it didn't bother us because each time we had to use it, nobody was inside at the same time. ONE THING we were so thankful for was that we realized after a week that my husband left his tablet in the room so we called and they were quick to help us by sending it to Vancouver by mail. Apparently, the housekeeping lady in charge that day had reported it to Lost & Found department. They deducted it from our credit card and the tablet came a few days later. Highly recommend this hotel!

Right in the heart of town so you can walk everywhere. Lots of charm in this old hotel with beautiful original woodwork . Great lobby with lots of taxidermy. Don’t be fooled by its exterior ! Restaurant and bar on premises as well
