Great trip to Mexico. Everybody was courteous, wait staff was excellent especially candido y and Ruperta. Food was good whether dining a la carte or buffet style. Would definitely vacation here again.

Review of BlueBay Grand Esmeralda

We stayed at Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda from January 24-Feb 2nd.
The resort is very large with golf carts that will stop and pick you up at the posted stops. We found the resort to be very well maintained and all of the staff to be very friendly.
Thankfully we stayed in building 4 which is closer to the beach, main pool and most of the activities.
Check in was easy and everyone was friendly. We were approached by Super Mario to attend one of the information sessions about the timeshares and were bribed with $200 per couple in USD to be used on the repsort. Needless to say we went listened to the sales pitch and were given $200 for both the couples to share when we declined. We could care less about the money but didn't appreciate being lied to and when asked about it he assured us we misunderstood.
The beach was clean with minimal seaweed that was quickly removed each morning. We were not able to go into the ocean as they were blowing sand in to build up the beach and twice heard of people being stung by jelly fish so we decided to utilize the pool. That being said in 10 days we did see a drastic difference in the beach size in the time we were there.
The pool was clean, offered lots of lounge chairs and entertainment. There was always someone coming around to get you a drink and the activities team worked hard to make sure everyone knew what was going on.
We spent most evenings at the swing bar where Ivan and Jose were sure to offer shooters and your drink was always full.
The main buffet at dinner always had a line up, this was our biggest complaint. If the set up was different it certainly would make things much smoother.
We ate at two of the a la cartes - the italian and steakhouse and both were amazing.
Great resort, great value for your money.

Our first visit to Mexico, we were very happy with our stay at this resort. Our room in building 6 was clean and comfortable, the resort is fairly large but it never felt too crowded. There are 6 a la carte restaurants, we had no trouble booking these with our wonderful concierge Yesica, who was absolutely delightful. On days when we did trips we used the buffet restaurant which was also great. All the staff were friendly and helpful, we would not hesitate coming here again. Our only comment would be to have more sunbeds available around the pools, especially the smaller pool away from the beach.

We were in a garden view room with our 2 kids. We had to call twice for noice complaints at night. Also the fire alarm would go off 2 times every night as well for some reason (around 10:15pm) which would wake up my youngest.
The pool is great for the kids, especially the shallow portion.
The beach was disappointing as they are trying to rebuild it- so the water is very murky and pretty much unswimmable. There is a lagoon that is gorgeous about 7 min walk down the beach.
We found the hot water in our room
would come and go. Some days we would have lots and other days we were scraping by.
The staff is fantastic- super friendly and helpful.
All in all- we enjoyed our time away, just wish a few things were worked on in order to improve the quality of our stay.

We stayed at this resort the last week of January 2020. I rate 3 stars, maybe could be 3.5.
Room, Food and service were great.
Big turnoffs
Time share people.
Only 1 initial encounter at arrival. Of 15 trip to AI resorts we have gone to, BBGE is the worst timeshare "pressure". We had to say "NO" three times before we were let go. The resort "makes sure your see their friends" after you check in. We were by no way interested but see this as a big turn off. You could see at breakfast the high sales approached, one on one.
Would I go again? Yes if the price were right.
Beautiful resort other than the timeshare people.

We stayed in an ocean view room and it was lovely. Clean and beautiful view. Can't say much for the drunken guests. I wish people knew how to hold their liquor. This is not an adult only so there were kids (mostly pre-school). Lovely pool. Beach had a lot of seaweed and had brown water. No swimmers that I could see. Food was especially good at the Italian, Mexican & French restaurants. Buffet was good. They need more servers around the pool area. They could add another bar. The 2 they had at the main pool were crowded all the time. Not a 5 star as stated on their site but still good.
