Small resort, great service, & big value!

Reviewed Mar 6, 2023via mobile
Just got home from 5 nights at the Jewel Paradise Cove. Feb 28- March 5th
If you’re like me you will read a lot of reviews before you book your resort…here’s the deal with the Jewel Paradise Cove…this is very much a you get what you pay for situation. Everyone expecting this to be a five star property for the price point has unrealistic expectations. We paid $2200 for an ocean view Butler room for 5 nights… If you want the best gourmet food & top shelf liquor then stay at a resort that’s 2 or 3 times {or more!} the price. If you want a clean, safe, relaxing, resort that checks all the boxes with staff that treats you like royalty for a budget price…then check out the Jewel!

We booked a Butler suite directly through the website and received a great deal. Highly recommend checking their pricing vs a third party.
We did a private transfer and check in was easy. Using a bus transfer means a long ride with frequent stops AND arriving at the resort with a lot of other people…which means you will have a long line at check in! Private transfer is the way to go!
After checking in, our butler met us at the lobby and helped us with our bags and gave us a phone to reach them while we were they. If your budget allows we felt the Butler room was worth the extra money (about $400 for 5 nights) They {Crista, Raymond & Twanye} booked our reservations, saved us chairs on the beach, brought us a cooler of water and beers daily to enjoy on the beach, brought us lunch on the beach, checked in on us throughout the day, & also each evening at dinner. They were really the best! That added service made our trip feel really, really special!

All the staff on the resort are amazing but here are a few stand outs for us!

Shackira at the coffee hut was the best, all smiles every morning! Ask her to make you her “special coffee” you won’t be disappointed!

Oran the water aerobics instructor was so much fun!

Rochelle our breakfast server at Platinum & again at the beach party…long day of working and she was all smiles morning & night!

Marvile at the Sunken Treasure Bar, was our favorite bar tender! He knew my husband‘s after dinner drink by day two & made it for him to perfection daily! We ended up chatting with him one night while waiting for the piano man to arrive and had such a nice talk. Kind, funny, sweet guy!

Tips:
Bring cash to tip the staff it goes a long way & they deserve it!
$5’s vs $1 for people that go the extra mile will get you better and better service each day! They remember you & appreciate it!

Bring a cup…I never bring a cup to an all inclusive and I wish I did. No straws and the cups for frozen drinks aren’t really big enough.

Book the glass bottom boat and the booze cruise! The glass bottom boat is free and the booze cruise is a snorkeling/cruising ride for $50 pp from the resort dock.

Breakfast at Platinum is far better than the buffet and you have a view of the ocean and table service. Ask for a side of callaloo with your eggs! It’s delicious!

Overall we had a relaxing and wonderful vacation! We loved the small size of the resort and a caring friendly staff!
Just go with realistic expectations that the 5 star reviews don’t mean it’s a 5 star resort and you’ll have a wonderful time.

This is a smaller resort with two small beaches. I really enjoyed the pools and hot tubs. I did not try the slide. Customer service is superb and although in previous posts I’ve said I’m not the best to judge in the food area as I do not eat much, omg the food was so amazing!! Best French toast I’ve had in my entire life!!! There is also a coffee hut which we loved!!! The quality and cleanliness of food/display is of a very high standard. There is a piano bar which I enjoyed as well. I read in previous posts that say the resort is outdated but I could really only see it in the lobby area and I think the signage outside the resort needs a makeover. The rooms I really liked in that there was basically a closet that you could put your luggage clothes/safe etc which is sort of a separated room. Beds were very comfy. While I really enjoyed myself for the few days I was there, beware this is a smaller resort with no huge grand lobby or much of a aesthetically pleasing lobby/building per say but the quality of food and the professionalism of the staff( who all seem to love their jobs and that says a lot) makes up for it. Last but not least if you are looking for large sandy white beaches this may not be the place for you.
Thank you to the General Manager and staff who are all amazing.

We just got back from a week at Jewel Paradise and had a great time.
PROS
The people are so very friendly and accommodating.
Adults only resort.
The music and entertainment is top knotch (do not miss the steel pan).
The food - Jerk chicken hut was amazing, Platnum restaurants and Moonstone both offered great choices, Jester was great for quick pizza.
There are 2 beach spots, 3 different pool areas and a number of water sports all included (we kayaked which we enjoyed).
The Sunset bar offered an amazing view and is a must at sunset.
Treasure Chest gift shop - had lots of variety at decent prices
Landscaping- nice grounds
CONS
The limited alcohol choices and drink options. We were disappointed that we could not get a mojito all week (despite it being on the menu). There was generally a lack of fresh ingredients or better liquors at the bar. While I understand we were on an island, we were surprised there were no limes/limes or fresh lime juice….. The alcohol was very basic…..surprised that there wasn’t even Appleton rum - we really struggled to find something we liked (we are not fussy). Although we did enjoy the mimosas with pineapple juice (a first for us).
1 hour from the airport - recommend the private transfer
KUDOS
A shout out to Whitney, who was not only the friendliest staff on the resort but also an attentive lifeguard, assisted with towels, clean up around the pool and so much more - what a workhorse.
Shaunesse was a very attentive bartender at the pool bar - always a smile and so very attentive.
Our check in was anything but normal, we arrived much later than expected (8 hours) and we were very tired but Sean was a dream. Making sure we had everything we needed in a timely fashion - can’t thank him enough.
NOTHING SPECIAL
- The Teppenyaki restaurant - reservation required
- Aquamarine poolside - food available from noon until late night
- Sunken treasure pool bar
Constructive criticism
While the piano bar was okay, some variety in talent might make it more enjoyable.
Available but we did not participate in
- Disco, just not our scene (opened at 10 pm, we were winding down at that hour)
- Waterslide, cool idea but not for us
- Glass bottom boat or sailing
- Dinner on the beach
- Spa exercise space
- Beach party or Manager reception

Room tip: Get the private transfer as the resort is an hour plus away from the airport. Tip lots and don’t miss the sunset view.

Just returned from a one week trip to Jewel Paradise Cove as a group of 8. I cannot say enough great things about this resort! The food was fantastic, drinks were great, and the staff were consistently friendly and warm! A smaller resort meant no long line ups at bars and always being able to find a chair at the beach or any of the three awesome pools. Special shout out to Whitney, Janice, Petrona and Sherene. Would go back in a heartbeat! Highly recommended.

Great little hotel, very clean rooms, grounds and pools, food was very good and the staff was awesome, super friendly and helpful. Loved our stay. Only negative was the transfer from the airport to the hotel was over 2 hours with all the stops.

We went to Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa for a friend's wedding. It was our first time in Jamaica. We LOVED it.

The resort is small but never felt crowded. It is Adults only which we liked. We had an oceanfront room which was very quiet and private The bed was very comfortable. The balcony was small BUT large enough for me to do my morning martial arts practice and the views were breathtaking. I especially liked the sight of 3 LARGE Pelicans perching on a tiny twig of a branch

There are 3 large Pools - my only quibble was as someone who swims laps only one pool provided this possibility for us --- but we found time early morning and mid-afternoon to swim laps

I had two massages at Radiant Spa - Both Salome and Sarah provided an excellent massage.

Overall the food was excellent. - both the selection and the quality and I loved the spicing and tried many Jamaican dishes. The steaks at Jubilees were some of the best I have had in a VERY long time. The Jerk Hut provided very tasty succulent jerk food which we ate every lunchtime. I really enjoyed the Jamaican spiced kidneys at breakfast - a surprise and a real treat My one quibble is the Sushi Bar which was an utter disappointment! NO sashimi and the sushi choices were very limited In my opinion, it is a waste of space.

The Coffe Shack was fabulous and well worth waiting in the long line in the morning. The bars had a limited range of drinks and served very few premium liquors. I would have liked to see a red ale or a dark beer. Also a better Gin and Rum

The staff were OUTSTANDING! Always smiling courteous and professional. It was an added bonus to chat with so many of them about Jamaica and their own lives. In particular, I want to mention AnnMar (a server) who was always smiling; Taneisha ( Restaurant Supervisor) who was very helpful and attentive to our idiosyncratic needs; and Demuan who seated us at our favourite table each day and who willingly and joyfully shared a lot of personal and local knowledge about the area

As a result of all these experiences, we kept asking ourselves why had it taken us so long to visit Jamaica. We will be returning to Jamaica and to the Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa very soon!
