More of a 4* but enjoyed our stay

Reviewed May 17, 2023
Lovely pool and good location - right on the beach and a cheap bus ride away from Kos town (make sure you bring cash for this). A taxi back if you miss the last bus is around €17 back to the hotel. The buffet was varied and the food very nice. Being half board we did have to pay extra for lunch food round the pool which we think was a good decision as it looked a lot nicer than the cold selection buffet on offer. Food ordered was always fresh and large portions. We also walked down to taverna Romeo’s for a few lunches, this was affordable with excellent food, drinks and service.

I would suggest not buying soft drinks from the hotel but instead the shop which is a two minute walk down the road.

For a five star hotel, the room was a little basic but nice and well maintained. There was a significant amount of dust on the smoke alarm which had been missed and toiletries like lotion were not replenished. There was also no iron in the room. Reception can bring one on request but you can only keep it for an hour - not very 5*.

To give the hotel a more 5* feel ordering around the pool could be more streamlined - if you want food you are told to search for the waiters walking around and can’t just purchase at the bar or restaurant if you want food by the pool which leaves you wandering around for a while. I feel having QR codes and table numbers for ordering by each sunbed would make it easier for the staff to locate everyone easily and for guests to order drinks/food as they please.

Bar staff were very friendly however, upon arrival it would be beneficial for reception staff to provide some more information on how to get to town - bus times, information about the spa, hire buggy’s etc.

There was also some confusion at the beginning of our stay where the reception staff said we could swap our breakfast for lunch whenever we choose (half board) but when we went for lunch the next day this very much confused the restaurant staff. It was a little embarrassing to have so many staff members coming over, when just one could have handled the issue.

Entertainment was every other night and the quality was high. On nights where there isn’t entertainment it would be nice to have bingo/louder music as the general vibe in the main area was dull. We even went to look by the main pool on the first night as we were surprised by how quiet it was. The drifters were very good and got everyone up and dancing!

Overall a pleasant stay but feel as if compared to other 5* hotels it lacks that special level or service/VIP feel.

We had a great experience . Food is rated excellent. We joined a show at main bar during having our cocktail. Swimming pool so romantic and infinitive . Don’t miss the chance to take fotos of the view over there. Staff so polite and ready to make your stay so pleasant. We will visit this place again.

We have just returned from 5 nights at this hotel and I’m sorry to say that this hotel is definitely not 5 star hotel standards.
I will start with the positives, the room was nice with a lovely view and the large infinity pool is of course beautiful and the best part of this hotel. However after coming from 2 nights at their sister hotel Kantouni (at Kalymnos) this hotel seemed like a huge downgrade. Of course we understand the service was always going to be different going from a small hotel to a large one, however it was a lot poorer than we expected.
When you arrive the reception staff are not that friendly, they provided no information about the hotel, no map or no information about the Island. We were handed our keys and shown to our room (The gentleman who took us on the buggy was lovely). The view from the room was as advertised and lovely, but the walls are paper thin so you can hear tv’s in the next room, people walking etc. and the balcony doors have bad soundproofing so you can hear everything from people on other balconies, I had to complain once as the room 2 floors below us was playing the loudest and most unbearable music which we could hear even with our door shut, which did stop 5 minutes after I called reception so I believe they spoke to them.
We spent a couple of days at the pool and the food was lovely but the young gentleman serving was just terrible, he was only young and probably still learning but every time he took someone’s order he would return asking people “did you order this” and couldn’t remember who had ordered what, he also forgot our order until we flagged him down again half an hour later. Training should take place before you open for the season.
David’s food hall - most evenings there was a good variation of food, Greek night we found worse then the normal night though. One night there was a full pig being served, it was positioned right as you entered and I thought this was really poor taste for any vegetarians or vegans (I am not one but it still made me feel sick as it was still a full pig, smiling with teeth on show) and put me off my food. The restaurant is so dated, the chairs look about 20 years old and it looks like a huge canteen, we were half board but didn’t want to eat there every night so ended up paying to eat elsewhere 2/3 nights. The roof above was dirty too.
I felt like the general upkeep of the hotel was poor, the pool at the top got so windy and the beds would blow all over and just got left there, so presentation was definitely not 5*.
The gentleman that works for the car rental inside the hotel was also rude, we spoke to his company before arriving at the hotel and were quoted a price, my husband went to speak to him and he quoted him more! Hy Husband said I think I can get it cheaper elsewhere and the guy said “go look elsewhere then”. Not he way you expect to be spoken to in a 5* hotel. We also dined at the Soya restaurant and found the food bland and poorly presented (attached photos).
I don’t like leaving bad reviews but other than the large pool, and the pool bar I feel like the rest of the hotel is a 3/4 star, as we went in May the price was quite reasonable but still disappointing, had I gone in peak and paid a higher price I would have been even more disappointed.

My first ever solo trip and I couldn’t have picked a better hotel to come to! All the staff are so friendly and helpful especially the bar woman Dessy!! I don’t think I would have had such an amazing experience if she didn’t push me to do all the things I wanted to! If you want an amazing cocktail ask Dessy for the Parmi special! 😂 Had an amazing massage by Ria! She was amazingggg, so much so that I went and got another massage! The hotel was lovely and clean! Food was amazing! Drinks too! The beach which is right at the bottom of the hotel was insane also with the beachbar! Would 100% recommend!

We arrived here late at night/early morning, hotel greeting was pleasant and taken to our room via golf buggy. The hotel itself it’s clean, well equipped and ascetically pleasing.
Beautiful views and lovely location. We had a sea view room which we paid extra for. We went on an all inclusive basis. The food was 6/10 for the buffet style all inclusive option. You are entitled to 2 dinners at the Restaurants on site as part of the all inclusive option, one Asian and one Mediterranean - both really good service and amazing food.
In terms of location, the hotel is very isolated and you need to get transport into Kos town via taxi or bus. You are unable to walk anywhere. There isn’t much to do around the area so be prepared to relax at the hotel…
The bar and pool stuff can’t do enough for you - Alexandra was amazing and such a sweet girl. She catered to us all week and kept us topped up with mojitos.
The reception staff are less attentive and not upfront about information on the hotel / tours / buses etc. we only found out on the last day of our trip that buses run every 15 mins into Kos town after paying for taxis…via another couple. The reception staff hadn’t mentioned this and would have benefitted us through the week. On departure I requested a buggy to pick us up as we had heavy cases and the wind was up to 30mph gust…25 minutes later no one had turned up so we ended up pulling the cases up the hill ourselves.
Overall, really nice hotel, good food, nice staff and a relaxing weeks holiday.

Room tip: Limited access to anything out with hotel. Nothing walkable

Sitting in the hotel, waiting to go to the airport for our journey home. Such a stunning hotel, food/drink/staff all great. Special mention to Anastasia down at the infinity pool who goes above and beyond looking after you and also to Petros in the main restaurant. €2 to get the bus into Kos centre which is worth a visit. Bus stop at the hotel so basically door to door. Could easily have stayed longer. Will return one day. Thank you so much Michelangelo Hotel x

Room tip: Ask for a sea view, it’s stunning
