Fabulous holiday

Reviewed Jun 26, 2023via mobile
We had a fabulous stay at this hotel and as a base to explore we could not wish for any thing more

We were staying in the rooms overlooking the adult pool, the shower pressure is amazing and the bed was large and very comfortable, the room was clean, what more do you want. We did not use the oven rings, but used the toaster and kettle for the odd breakfast - bagels and coffee, the fridge was used and very cold with a little ice compartment.

Pools: adult pool was nice, shame parents took their kids in now and then.
We did not really use the main pool after it turned my bikini green.
We loved the jacuzzi area.
Loads of sun beds, luckily we were out of season and therefore we could sit anywhere, anytime.

We did use the trampoline once, which was the hotels next door, which was a laugh.

Food: we were room only

Breakfast: we tried this once, it was not a hit and to be honest expensive for what it was, cheap and cold, we preferred eating out or bagels in the room.

Lunch: we had lunch on several occasions along with happy hour from 12-1pm, food was hot and of good value, service was slow but to be honest the humidity was so bad I am not surprised they did not want to move fast, we were on holiday so was in no rush, the chicken wrap and chips was the best value for money and delicious.

Dinner: never used this so cannot comment - ate out all the time or Chinese takeaway over the road

Location; walkable to Massey shop (turn right out of hotel)
Walkable to oistins about 15 mins walk. Surfers cafe on way to oistins on the right. Catch a reggae bus left to town or Carlisle bay, races, st Lawrence gap, Rockley beach etc .

The best cash point is near the bus stop after oistins fish market.

The only downside to this hotel, which is out of the hotels control is the seaweed, when the seaweed/grass is not there the beach/sea is perfect, however, 2 days at the beginning and 2 days at the end of our holiday we could not enter the sea as it was so bad - a great shame as Carlisle and Rockley beach were perfect at the same time. All the hotels along this side encountered the same issue, I would not of been chuffed if I’d paid the prices at the other hotels for a sea inaccessible.

Having a fridge was ideal for coke and rum storage, we had a few cheap hotel days where we enjoyed the sea and jacuzzis and made our own drinks, got ice from the bar when we ran out of our ice cubes, with an amazing view what more can you ask for. Barbados is as cheap and expensive as you want to make it. Eat and drink like a local it’s cheaper than uk, drink wine/vodka and eat at at Lawrence gap you pay extra. Food shopping is dear, but hey ho your on your hols, we did a bit of both.

Would we stay here again, yes.

As only $3.50bbd on the reggae bus when you can’t access the sea due to seaweed/grass, it did not look good either. But nature is out of the hotels control and a great shame.

Spacious room with a small kitchenette area that had a fridge and toaster in. Great balcony area, ours over looked the side pool. Bathroom was basic but functional. Pool area was good, especially the front decking area, overlooking the sea. Sun loungers are a little dated. Only went to the restaurant a few times, but was nice if a little expensive.

We have been to Barbados a few times now and have always tried different hotels / appartments etc and saw that most people have a great stay at Butterfly Beach.

I booked the hotel separately to flights on a room only basis because I am a big fan of the local food and can always book the hotel restaurant if needed.

The hotels staff are on the whole welcoming and smiley, with the bar staff particularly so. There isnt always space on the decking or the pool for subathing but you can take a lounger down onto the beach (which is beautiful and quiet).

The room was fine, we always go for one with a kitchenette so can make things if we so wish and although it's nice to have a sea view, it's not top of my list of must haves when staying in Barbados as you are normally never more than a few minutes from somewhere you can see the beaches and water.

A short walk from Oistins in one direction and not that far to the Gap in the other direction although you will have to go inland to get to the Gap as the beach runs out. There are plenty of good restaurants and a small handful ot great ones within a couple of Km from the hotel.

There are shower and a bag storage room if you have a later flight, this was fine for us and the taxi to the airport was quick and cost about $50BD

Barbados is my favourite holiday destination and feels like a home away from home. There is loads to do and if you are looking for somewhere friendly and relaxing, look no further. The Butterfly beach is a super little hotel, do not go thinking it is a big resort with loads of modern gadgets but look at it as a quaint smaller hotel and I am sure your expectations will be met.

I will definitely be returning!

Room tip: The bar, restaurant etc charges to your room if you are a guest and you pay at the end. They take a deposit at check in.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, just needed to take a break and the hotel was very affordable.
The Hotel manager was also very welcoming and warm.

When I booked the hotel I wasn’t looking for spectacular and I was very happy with my stay for what it’s worth.

The hotel is also in “walking” distance from the small fishing town of Oistines …which is a plus if you want to experience a true feeling of Barbados
And I was told I had just missed their Oistine fish festival which is held every Easter Weekend

I will however say there has also been a few take away from the hotel that I think management needs to work on or simply look into.

I had a late check in, (7/730pm) and when I got there I was treated with a dimmed lobby and had to call out for reception to come out of a back room to attend to me, also after checking in I was pointed in the direction of my room…which I had to find myself

There were small ants in my room/ kitchen areas but I wasn’t really bothered seeing I wasn’t planning on using the kitchen area

The breakfast was depressing; it had a small selection and as a picky eater that made it even more difficult.
But the sausages were amazing

The staff in my opinion are very laid back, and there is no rush to do anything, and I feel at times you had to constantly check on them to ensure your requests are being processed
Even though I dined at the hotel restaurant for my entire stay there, I was only offered water once, I had to ask about specials, there was no hostess to greet me and I had to wave down a staff in order to get assistance, asking for a glass of ice took 10 minutes to get, which I ended up going for myself

My overall experience at the hotel was fine, because I simply wanted a space where I can unwind.
I will somewhat recommend

My friend and I … dropped into the Butterfly restaurant one evening , our waitress was Yvette. We got Yvette immediately, because we are also Bajans. She is Hilarious. We returned, four times after that with friends for lunch, drinks and lots of appetizers. The prices are ridiculous affordable, given Barbado’s high dining costs and one of the few hotels around providing Entertainment. The wonderful Mr.Impact on Wednesday evening performs. And keep a keen out for the Restaurant Manager, she dances like a Bajan.😅😅👏🏽👏🏽
I was in Barbados February to March. Every occasion was thoroughly enjoyable, I visited.👍🏽👍🏽

Room tip: I was not a guest… my Review is for the staff, delicious food , affordable prices and staff. The view from the Restaurant is awesome.
