Amazing week wonderful staff

Reviewed Jul 5, 2023via mobile
Had an amazing week here, staff are an absolute asset to the hotel they never stop, work long hours and always have a smile on their face, really make the holiday special.

Food was good something for everyone and snack bar exceptional, didn’t use the al a carte so can’t comment.

Pool and beach beautiful, bit stoney on the beach as you walk in might need shoes on but if you walk 20 meters further down the beach wasn’t an issue

Plenty shops locally and bars in Alanya taxis cheap enough and always arrive quickly.

For the price you pay I don’t think you would get any better.

Where do I start?! Well, first impression you think this place is nice. After looking through reviews and seeing social media we thought we chose a great hotel. When booking we mentioned our anniversary, requested an adequate room facing the pool. Well they couldn't even cater to that minor request!!

I have seen reviews that other people are getting 'free' upgrades to suites we got a terrible room overlooking the main road with way too much noise to get a good night sleep, not even connecting beds just 2 doubles pushed together like you are children bunking on a sleepover. The quality of the beds in that room was appalling, you couldn't move without it a squeak. Couldn't even cuddle up to my partner without fear of falling between the beds.

We went down to complain, but hotel staff were useless, spoke to the guest relations manager who has an attitude and the general manager is rude and tries to intimidate and only want to get money out of you to upgrade. I guess you only get free upgrades if your face fits. Btw what kind of '5 star hotel' doesn't even provide a beach bag? One of the days we went to have a look at another hotel we almost book to look around and got far better hospitality. If that hotel was on TUI we would have requested to swap in the first 24 hours.

After paying for an upgrade as we had no other choice, we finally got a decent enough room. Can't knock the room except for the fact they don't even refill the drinks in the fridge like most 5 star hotels in Turkey.

Sunbeds are a problem in the morning, despite the rules saying no towels to be left on sunbeds before 8, people are out taking up sunbeds before that time. Warning to anyone get your towels down before 9 or you will not find any.

The breakfast is their best selection of the day, don't why there is soup on at breakfast either, lunch and dinner is very hit and miss and alot of selections are repetitive. I can basically tell you the order blindfolded, right hand side as you enter, pide, Shepard's pie, chips, today's meat, vegetables, another days selection and spaghetti with 'neopolitan sauce'. Other side soup, rice, meat in whatever sauce that's about it. You will always see Shepard's pie, spaghetti with Neapolitan sauce ( basically tasted like blended tinned tomatoes) and that was cold before you even sat down to eat. Couldn't find anyone we spoke to from the UK who had anything positive to say about food.

Best place for food was the snack bar,the staff were great especially Mel only trouble was it closed at 4.30pm. The cocktails were basic but nice mainly because of the fruit juices. Majority are some type of fruit juice, local spirit they just zhuzh it up with either blue curacao or grenadine.

The entertainment was okay, annoying that sunbeds had to be removed to make space, should really have a stage for that. There were some impressive acrobatics but one act who did tricks with a ladder wasn't bad but repetitive how many tricks can you really do going up and down? Best entertainment was the pool basketball game which got real competitive. The entertainment team were poor at keeping an accurate score though and was too short.

Don't know why ice cream was only available for 2 hours a day.

Midnight soup don't bother unless you are tipsy and got the munchies, everything gets cold instantly.

Definitely not what we was expecting, firstly the management doesn’t like to hear complaints and they don’t wanna help solve them with making you pay for upgrades. Management definitely have a the Customer is always wrong attitude which in my eyes a big problem. Never had such bad experience with hotel management and reception as we did here . The beds in the standard rooms are creeks and uncomfortable and inorder to get a decent bed we had to pay to upgrade. The food was terrible, despite reading reviews on this hotel before booking we didn’t speak to anyone that was from the uk that had a good word to say about the food choices . We aren’t picky eaters either . The food was just poor and sometimes stone cold . Drinks were ok but not great. Definitely not the best cocktails I’ve ever had . Got very annoying when people from tattoo places kept coming round the pool and snack bar every day asking you to book to get one . Also annoying that you have to move from being comfortable on your sun beds to accommodate for entertainment shows . They should have had a proper stage for this in my opinion. This place is definitely not 5 star or platinum as tui would have you believe and were glad be didn’t pay as much as some had to stay here . Wouldn’t return or recommend.

We visited the hotel in June and this was our first visit to the Hotel and everything was as expected having read many positive reviews before booking.

The Staff were very helpful and friendly and the TUI rep and Jane from the hotels guest relations team were excellent and very helpful.

The cleanliness of the rooms and all areas is superb.

The drinks seemed very good quality and great selection of cocktails are available, particularly loved the long island ice tea.

The patisserie was excellent with a great selection of cakes and coffees including ice latte, and later in the day pancakes and ice cream.

The entertainment was very good both in the day and night, but seemed a shortage of table and chairs and space required for the entertainment area on more then one occasion, the same goes for sunbeds around the pool although those they have are very close together.

The food was good although seemed very repetitive, more selection would have been better.

The pool snack bar was excellent and the service and quality of the food was great although it didn't affect us there was no vegetarian options.

overall a very good holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you everyone at the Selene beach and spa ****

I would say this sits between a 3 and a 4 for us as we had mixed reviews on this hotel. Overall, it was kept very clean and all of the staff were lovely. They had a trendy patisserie which was open from morning till night where you could have any drink you wanted, as well as a vast cake selection. But unfortunately several other things let it down like the main dishes in the buffet everyday. For fresh fruit, salads and mini desserts the variety was good but the main dishes were very bland, boring and unappealing which was a shame as when you only have that and the pool bar for food it does limit your options. Another issue was the noise from people in the communal areas going back to there rooms drunk or in groups, even till about 5am which could have been managed a lot better. The layout of the hotel means almost all of the doors face each other so you hear everything, especially if you are nearer to the lifts. We were also next to the cleaners cupboard so banging and crashing would start from 7am, which was unlucky. The lack of sun beds was also an issue as guests would have filled the pool before 9am with no intention to use the beds till several hours later, so this could also have been managed better. The hotel itself was well presented and outside you had a small shopping complex which broke things up a bit but location generally was an issue as it was 30 minutes from Alayna and over 90 minutes from Antalya airport so worth noting. The only walking routes available were along the motorway due to the way the area is designed as well which is also something to note if you enjoy a stroll. The hotel were pushy on you meeting the excursion reps as well and the spa staff were also a little too forceful in trying to get you to book a treatment, despite making it clear that we were not interested.
