This hotel pub greeted us warmly before we were even fully inside, with their woodland décor, walls plastered with tourism posters past and present and antler chandeliers hanging above. The plaid-clad staff was extremely friendly, proudly running us through their extensive beer offerings and eventually persuading us (not usually beer-drinkers) to try a few with our meal.
The entrees were definitely good – we tried the walleye fish & chips and the bison meatloaf, accompanied by the apple walnut goat cheese salad (topped with chicken). The fish and chips was probably neck and neck with the bison meatloaf for sheer tastiness, though the meatloaf took the prize for gorgeous presentation. The salad, however, was stunning – for the price of an entrée salad, what came actually could have served two people, with every bite delicious. The entrée prices are a bit on the high side, but you do get huge portions for the money.
We tried a cross-section of their drinks menu, a Lake of the Woods seasonal Mango Weiss, a Muskoka seasonal rice beer, a lemon & lavender Vodka Collins, and a cocktail called the Cold Front. We probably would be more inclined to reorder the mixed drinks on a future visit, but honestly, none disappointed.
Though we were pretty stuffed at the conclusion of our meal, we did want to at least sample the desserts, so we ended up splitting a slice of 6-layer chocolate cake. It arrived not only stunningly tall, but also decorated with roses painstakingly carved out of strawberries, a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. If you’re staying in the hotel, you don’t even have to leave the grounds to find a great meal in Fort Frances. Definitely recommended.

Nice, knowledgeable wait staff too, so they help you figure out which beer is the right one for you. I hate hoppy beers and they set me up perfect with a nice, flavourful brown beer that wasn't hoppy

Went for a business celebration.
The priceline for the food is expensive
The waitresses never refilled our drinks and one coworker waited over 15 minutes and asked three times for her glass of wine.
The food is amazing, they just need more staff

The bartender made us feel at home on our first visit. He knew his beers and spirits. He recommended the walleye fish tacos which I ordered and they were amazingly good

We had 4 outstanding meals at the restaurant, but the problem was that the service was extremely slow. We waited over 90 minutes to get our food. One group next to us left before they're dinner was served, as they were frustrated from waiting so long. Maybe we had a bad night for service, but the place was not crowded on a Friday night. Mostly fisherman groups staying the night.
The craft-tap beer was very good, but somewhat pricey - $46.00 (CAD) for 4 16oz drafts. Didn't expect that!
The new renovations looked great, and we loved the décor in the bar & restaurant.

We had a reservation for 27 people and our order want taken until 645. We didn't get our food ( most of us until 8). 3 people in our group didnt get their food until 9.
Very poor managing there should have been at least one more wait staff on to help a large table like this. I have never been to a place where it took 2 hours to get food. Ridiculous

We had a VERY nice stay and the Aurora Bar & Grill is a nice venue...we had a LOVELY gal (Mandy) wait on us and she was AMAZING...very attentive and we had a lot of laughs with her too...played some pool also!!!

I really like this place. I had my doubts before trying it since it is located in an “Inn”, but it delivered!
Really cool “cabin” feel, which adds to the ambiance.
Good selection of local beers, and the wings were great! I believe there are around 25 flavours; worth it if you go on Wing Night (Wednesdays).

This bar offers drinks and bar food. Ordered chicken wings that tasted freezer burned. The flavours were also disappointing with little flavour. I ordered Lemon Pepper and my husband has Sweet and Sour.. we were both unhappy and would not recommend this restaurant. The only positive I can say is that the staff were pleasant.

I'm very sorry to hear about your dining experience that didn't meet your expectations nor ours. To be honest, I am little baffled to the concerns. It would be impossible for our wings to be freezer burnt as we get them, marinate them, bread them, fry them and serve them and do not freeze them in that process ever. I can't honeslty speak to why they wouldn't of been anything but delicious. We usually get such great feedback on our wings, unfortunately I have no idea what would of went wrong with your order, but can assure you that is not a normal circumstance. As for the flavours, we don't have a sweet & sour flavour, but we do have a sweet & spicy, I'm guessing maybe there was a miscommunication with the server and you ended up with that flavour when requesting sweet & sour. Wish I had more insight, but regardless I am sorry that your experience was anything but great. Next time you are in Fort Frances, please send me an email and I will arrange for a few orders of wings on us in hopes you can experience how are wings should be! Hope to hear from you.

Wonderful waitress. Delicious food. Great selection of food, beverages and desserts. We have gone as a hockey group and food was fast and waitress never left us wanting anything. Wonderful atmosphere.
