Wish I didn’t even have to give it one star! Run as fast as you can from this place. I cannot emphasize this enough DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We recently stayed here for 3 days. Not only is it overpriced for what you get. The beds were disgusting and smelt so bad. The sheets on the bed weren’t even fitted sheets and kept falling off. The bathroom toilet made a sound every time you used it. The shower is so small it’s like a little claustrophobic box. They clearly never clean these rooms. The smell got so bad eventually couldn’t handle staying any longer. Brought it up to the front desk and they were extremely rude about it. We had paid them $500 for a week originally because our original plan was to stay there for a bit while we were waiting to close on our house. We only stayed 3 nights. They refused to give our money back, even at the cost they said a night they would at least owe us $245 minimum back. Their only response to us however was that they didn’t cater to people like us. Like what is that supposed to mean. Someone that wants a clean room for their family. My poor one daughter actually wound up sick because of this place. Not just that but you could hear people screaming at each other all the time. We were not the only ones leaving because of the rooms. There were multiple families leaving at the same time. I don’t understand how this place even stays in business. Should be shut down! I would rather sleep in my car at least I know it’s clean!

You won’t be staying here for any kind of luxury, let’s get that out of the way. Dated, rough around the edges, well used, very tight. But let’s be real, if you are simply looking for a place to sleep and nothing more, this place is just fine. And the customer service is great.

My spouse and I stayed 2 months in this motel due to work and it was pretty cheap. I had to ask for things to be cleaned and they never did change the bedding unless we asked. We complained numerous time about the smell of marijuana but nothing ever seemed to be done. It was very out dated, cold and we couldn't control the heat so we had to open up the oven. My spouse and I again booked to stay there (it's cheap) and the owner told us that the room would be ready for us when we got there. Well, after a 5 day drive across country and my spouse severely sick, we arrived to the motel. I told the owner that I had to take my spouse to the hospital because it was an emergency and she told me that we couldn't stay there because of our Bishon/shitzu dog that we had with us. They do allow pets there, we saw even big dogs there when we were there last. I told her that we just travelled 5 days and it was an emergency that I had to take my spouse to the hospital (He had a tumour that later on needed an emergency operation on) and could she just give us a pet room but she told me she couldn't and to find another motel.. I will NEVER stay there again!! I can't believe there are people like that in this world:( I ended up having to drive to Red Deer and finding a room there so I could get my spouse to the hospital asap. By the way, he's doing great now Thank God. So yeah, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy

We were driving from Calgary to Sylvan Lake and decided to stay the night. My husband quickly booked this place for $105.00 for a room with a queen bed and it seemed nice because the ad said the hotel was right on the lake. I must be very naive because I thought $105.00 would get you a decent room given we live in Canada, yikes was I wrong!!! I stayed in hostels while traveling Austraila and I never felt dirty and disgusting just by looking around the room like I did in this place! I decided that the only way I could stay at this hotel was to buy my own sheets at the local Walmart, it didn't help... I tried to lay down but I was too grossed out, we left for home within an hour!

During our short stay we saw a greasy old guy on the balcony in his boxers with a lovely lady making out..... Some really nice young folks wearing bearing anything and partying.

While changing the sheets there were hair and dirt all over the mattress.... I have no clue why I even tried to stay there?

Just pay the extra $40-$50 and stay at the comfort inn or best western. This place is nasty!

You would be better off to sleep in your car. I am sure it would be cleaner and more quiet. If u have to stay here, be sure to bring your own bedding, towels and lots of Lysol. You do want any part of u to touch any part of these rooms. Dirty, stinky, and I feel the beds may have come from the dump. The bathroom is smaller than a closet and the shower is just scary. Smoking room, nonsmoking. No difference. domestic violence is tolerated here as it went on ALL night. Seriously. I am not a princess but I feel sleeping on a park bench would have been better

The owners of this seedy motel are really really nice.
But that's almost the only nice thing about it.
Location is ideal right across from the beach within walking distance of the water slides, and there is a fire pit if you thought to bring wood for a little fire at night.
But it is dirty, and noisy, and attracts a pretty rough element. The rooms had that cheap hotel smell, the whole place is in dire need of upgrades, or maybe a bulldozer.
For what you have to pay you must be able to find something cleaner and nicer, even on a busy weekend in Sylvan Lake.

Had only planned on a day trip to Sylvan Lake but decided to stay the night as the weather was so nice. Best Western insisted on a credit card for the stay, unfortunately we didn't have one as the overnight stay wasn't intended. We decided to stay at this place. Room smelt slightly of cigarettes, although apparently a nonsmoking room. We thought we were only there to sleep anyways and gave it a go. Once in bed the sheets smelt of cigarettes also. We were woken 4 times in the night by a bunch of drunk party goers in other rooms. The hotel claim to have a no noise policy after 11pm. We phoned the hotel staff and nothing was done. The bed was awful, and totally overpriced at $100 for the night. Would have had a better nights sleep in our car, a whole bunch cheaper too!!

The Beach Front “Resort” advertises family units with kitchens. This is definitely not a family hotel nor is it in any way a resort. The room smelt like mould and smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. The rooms were dirty and not maintained and we could not sleep because the sheets were ripped and the walls kept creaking all night. None of our family got a good night sleep. It didn't help that other guests were drinking/smoking (tobacco and other substances) and talking until 2:30am, and it seemed OK by the management. The next morning cigarette butts littered the stairs and porch outside our room. This hotel is way over priced and we will not be staying or recommending this place to anyone.

My family has been staying at this little motel for over 15 years thru three different owners and we had the worst experience ever there last summer. We had two rooms and they were so dirty we did not want to take off our shoes. The bedspreads which are not washed between customers were covered in stains and we had to take them to the front desk and ask them to wash them but this is not the worst.

The front desk let a car load of 5 drunk teens check in at 2 am after waking up the whole motel and yelling for over two hours. The next morning when the teens were leaving hold beer and yelling again I ran into the front office to ask them to call the police. The same people who had checked them in refused to call police even though they clearly were drunk again and driving with open beer. With the front desk refusing to call police as I began to scream at him that they were going to kill themselves and other on a crowded beach again he refused. My daughter was upstairs and called on her cell phone as I ran into a strangers room and called as well.

One of the kids from another room ran next door and everyone watched as the RCMP stopped the car at the Racoon lodge. The police impounded the car and lives might have been saved BUT NO THANKS to the staff at this motel. It used to be a safe family place but it is a trashy dump and even if they upgrade if they are checking in people drunk and letting them wake up the whole place and refusing to call police about drunk drivers I say this place at hit an all time low and my family will NEVER stay here again!!!!!!
