Howard and Ruth were exceptional hosts in exceptional circumstances. So pleased that they allowed us to experience their secluded idyll in Kitimat during the re-opening of BC tourism during Covid. One night was too brief to really soak up the ambience of Minette Bay Lodge. We loved our spacious and perfectly appointed room with ensuite and views out to the bay. We had the opportunity to stroll beautiful paths through woods, across suspension bridges and along foreshores. A cosy fire in an inviting library was a welcome retreat and perfect place to unwind with a bottle of wine after a dinner in town.
Ruth packed us an amazing boxed breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea ( Ruth those muffins were amazing) to take away the next morning.
Covid protocols were followed meticulously with hand sanitizer and masks available upon arrival. Sadly this is a new way of travelling but Howard and Ruth proved that the warmth and friendliness that people love about B&B stays can still be maintained with some common sense protocols in place.
I wish we had had more time to enjoy this special location and I hope many more guests will venture to this amazing locale.

Fantastic 3 night stay! Howard was an attentive and accommodating host and we enjoyed hearing his stories about the area and the local wildlife. Our room was lovely; the bed extremely comfortable; and the view over the front lawn to the water was amazing. The tastefully decorated common rooms, full of books and treasures, provided many cozy spots to curl up with a book. The grounds were peaceful and relaxing and there were some interesting walking trails to explore. We enjoyed sumptuous daily breakfasts and drinks on the terrace in the late afternoon. Overall, a delightful interlude in a beautiful setting.

Dear Shelley and Rick, It was a treat to look after yourselves and Ellen earlier this month and we're delighted that you found our shorefront escape relaxing. You were all absolutely no bother atall! We trust that you had a fabulous trip on the Douglas Channel with Maple Leaf adventures and look forward to hearing all about it one day. With very best wishes. Yours, Howard and Ruth.

My wife and daughter came up to Kitimat for Spring Break to see where I work and explore a place unlike any they'd ever been to. We booked two nights at Minette Bay Lodge to wrap up the week so they could unwind before returning home. We made the right choice. Howard and Ruth were an absolute delight. They were welcoming and kind and shared their incredible home with us. It was the off season and there was still quite a bit of snow and ice on the ground so outdoor activities were limited but the library was full of options and the house was warm. They greeted us with tea and got to know us a bit but left us to our own devices and were available if needed. Ruth makes an awesome breakfast and the house and beds are so very comfortable. Though a bit pricey for Kitimat, it's well worth it if you're looking for somewhere quiet, cozy and peaceful. The grounds are amazing and the view is definitely worth the price of admission!

Thankyou Jamie for all kind comments. We're quite delighted that you were able to unwind as a family here together for a couple of days and enjoy the shorefront and the peace and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and hope that our paths will cross again at MBL, perhaps when the grass is green and the blossoms are out next time. With very best wishes. Howard and Ruth.

When travelling, I always seek out restaurants that reflect the local culture. I'm a self-professed foodie, and throughout my travels, I've been fortunate enough to dine in some fantastic restaurants, including some with Michelin stars. With that being said, some of my favourite meals have been at Minette Bay Lodge. An absolute gem in our community. The food is superb, and the ambiance and service are outstanding. We've celebrated many milestones at Minette Bay and have stayed overnight for celebrations. Their bed and breakfast is a touch of England, with spacious rooms and large windows framed with chintz tapestries that look onto their impressive property. Their beds are luxurious with soft linens and cozy duvets, perfect for respite or staycation. When we have out-of-town guests, I often bring them to Minette Bay. All leave in awe of the property, the outstanding accommodation, and the gastronomical delights. Ruth and Howard are gracious and generous hosts who always go the extra mile.

Very relaxing atmosphere in this character building. Loads of trails and wildlife to see just steps away. Came to disconnect and definitely accomplished with this remote B&B that provides attentive service and food albeit at a premium price.

Minette Bay Lodge was the perfect location for our daughter’s bridal shower! The lodge had a warm welcoming atmosphere and ample space for our party of 20. We were treated to a stunning array of cakes, cookies, macaroons and tea sandwiches. Ruth was also very accommodating to prepare a wide variety of tasty vegan treats as well! We enjoyed our tea in beautiful tea cups and had champagne circulating as well. The property provided a Picturesque background for Ruth to take photos of our group. Moments we will be able to look back and cherish forever. After the tea party a small group of us stayed the night in the very comfortable rooms upstairs. In the morning we were treated once again to amazing food by Ruth. Thank you Howard and Ruth for being such wonderful hosts! I’m so happy that we chose Minette Bay Lodge for our special celebration!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Minette Bay Lodge. Location is amazing. Decor makes you feel you are in some other part of the world. Howard and Ruth will make sure you feel perfectly at home and are by far the most hospitable owners you can imagine. If you ever visit this part of Canada, and need a place to stay, don't look further. This is it!

Tremendous hospitality, wonderful attention to detail made our 3 nights here something to remember for years to come. Ruth prepared fresh cinnamon buns, fruit plates, a variety of egg dishes, a delicious apple cake and much more for breakfast. Installed in front the fire, we also enjoyed a rich and diverse "aperitif" platter with wine in the afternoon. We also appreciated the tea served in the afternoon, after our walk along some of the many trails surrounding the lodge. Bravo Ruth and Howard!

Our family had the amazing opportunity to spend a few days at Minette Bay Lodge in July of 2024. To describe the experience in one word “heavenly”. The drive into the lodge on a nice gravel road through a serene forest, sets your mood to “relax mode”. Rolling on to the grounds of the lodge, you are greeted with beautiful sites of pristine conditions and an amazing backdrop of Minette Bay and the mountain range behind it. Dr Howard and Ms Ruth welcomed us with the most charming British manners into their beautiful home. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, and relaxing. A cigar and a drink on the back porch at 11pm (still daylight by the way) is a must do. My family will never forget the wonderful visits of the lodge dog, the super cool Wally. I know they miss him. However, all of this pale in comparison to the most incredible breakfast you will ever have in your life prepared by Ms Ruth daily. Her muesli mix flavor is something that will stay with you for the rest of your life, not to mention the fresh cherry muffins with cherries picked on the same day from her back yard. Amazing place with great people, a must do.

The two night getaway at Minette Bay Lodge was relaxing to say the least. The property has various trails and places to take in the views, and breakfast was always delicious with a wide variety of pastries, yogurt and eggs. The days were quiet with just the sounds of birds and wind through the trees. The lodge itself was incredibly well-kept and clean, while still being completely homey and comfortable. The view from the back porch was the perfect way to spend each afternoon, looking out at the water and mountains in the distant. Ruth and Howard were incredibly thoughtful and hospitable providing us with drinks, snacks and hike suggestions in the area (beyond the wonderful trails on their property). We cannot wait to go back to visit!

Good morning Mellisa. Many thanks for your enquiry and apologies that it wasn't picked up until today. We'd be pleased to do a group breakfast if that would work for yourself and friends, though the weather has turned autumnal now and so do bear us in mind for the Spring. With best wishes. Yours, Howard and Ruth.
