Ed's property is in the most perfect location. It's truly a home, away from home. He has all the amenities and then some to make your stay comfortable and memorable. From slow cookers to an oven with an air fry setting, Netflix and a picture window view that can only be found in a magazine, you are going to want to make sure you book your next stay in Stoney Rapids here. If you love to fish, bring your rod, I was catching big pike right off the shoreline because Ed had brought the dock in for the year already. Bonus that the pillows and bed were good. I already can’t wait to return.

Just got home from business trip to Stoney Rapids/Black Lake. Water Front Lodge was our home away from home. Love that we had full use of kitchen to cook our suppers(we brought our own food). Great view and even caught a couple fish right out front. Ed was very fast and easy to communicate with. We will be staying again on our next trip.

Nice place, Heather and Pete are the main treasures, they take no shortcuts to make your stay comfortable.
Heather remembered about me being a vegetarian from my previous stay and prepared a wonderful meal for my arrival. She loaned me her hiking shoes when learned about my hope to go hiking after work, Thank you guys!
With gratitude,
Elena Shurshilova

Room Tip: Bring your fruit and vegetables as those items are pricey here. And chocolate for Heather!

I have stayed at Whitewater several times over the lastvfew years. Always been reasonably happy. However this year I booked 2 rooms for 3 nites and was told by the owner Ed that there were no available rooms for my dates. Funny because lady who booked me in said they had lots of rooms. Called Ed the owner to talk sbout discrepancy and after a minute or so he HUNG UP ON ME!!! Very very unprofessional and ignorant. The man doesn't need common peoples money as he has Corporations and Businesses willing and able to pay his inflated prices! The main motel part is run down and the prices for food there are unjustifiable.

For Heavens sakes people. Stay at Als place. Much nicer and waaay better food for same price !!

After 43 days of hard paddeling from La Ronge to Black Lake last summer our 3 days at the Waterfront Lodge were nothing short of fantastic. Heather and Pete could not have done anymore to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful situation on the river, great home style food and warm and welcoming service. Look foward to returning next June.

We stayed at this hotel for a week while working in Black Lake. The staff are all very warm and welcoming. Always greeted us with a smile!
I should include that we were originally booked at Al's Place, but when I called a couple days before our arrival with a meal question I wad told they could no longer accomodate all 5 of us because they had a crew coming that would likely end up being "repeat customers" so some of our rooms were given to them! NOT good business practice in my opinion, so I cancelled our rooms and called The White Water Inn. Heather was happy to accomodate us...all 5 of us AND it was much less expensive!
The rooms are a little tired, could use an update, but they were perfectly clean and very spacious.
Meals here are fantastic! Home cooking at it's best... You have all the hot breakfast choices cooked fresh and also a continental option. They provided us with a choice of bagged lunch each day as we were 25km away and could not return to the hotel for lunch. Supper.. Oh my goodness... Supper was amazing every night!
Overall, this is a great place to stay and I plan to return in the summer as a tourist...such a beautiful location.
I will highly recommend The White Water Inn to anyone going to this location.

This hotel has great hospitality, including picking us up from the Stony Rapids airport in the pouring rain, lending us the hotel van, and making calls to find us a truck rental even after the general store had closed.

The Lodge rooms are significantly nicer than the Inn rooms. The Inn room I looked at smelled of smoke, even though there is a prominent "No Smoking" sign. The Lodge, by comparison, is bright, clean, and smells of cedar.

The staff are great and go the extra mile. The food is good but a tad expensive (normal for the northern communities though). $33 for a home-cooked dinner, $12 for eggs and bacon in the morning. There is even a sandwich station for making a lunch.

Would definitely stay there again and recommend the Lodge to anyone.

while working in Stony Rapids this past summer I had the fortune of staying at the White Water, hosts Joanne and Heather did there best to make you feel at home from day one.Not the newest of places but was kept very clean and the meals were all home made most places if you had to work late and missed the restaurant you went hungry there they made up dinners for you and they were in your room you were always met with a chipper hello or a g-day from Pete in closing you will be looked after

I cannot say enough what a fantastic host Heather was. Nothing was too much trouble and it meant so much as we were not in Stony for the happiest of occasions. I travelled all the way from Scotland so as unlikely as it is that I may be back I'd urge anyone that visits this beautiful area of Canada to stay here and not the "other place"!!
