Nestled near Kos Town, Platanista Hotel garners appreciation for its prime location, conducive to seafront strolls and cycling adventures, despite occasional bus hiccups. The hotel's cleanliness is a highlight, with guests consistently impressed by the pristine rooms and grounds. The modern, refurbished rooms provide a comfortable ambiance, though some guests suggest the service could be fine-tuned. While the rooms and amenities receive commendations for their comfort and availability of sun loungers, reception experiences vary. Overall, travelers consider the hotel a good value, especially for bike rentals and alternative dining options.

Hotel's Favourite
Adore this hotel in Kos. The professionalism of the staff through the Hotel, and yet the warmth and friendliness ,shared between staff/ guests, is unreal

My husband and I have travelled worldwide in 5 Star Hotels, and rarely have found a hotel with such warmth and welcoming staff

We have brought friends and family out over the years and now they return independently

The refurbishment of bedrooms was most welcome. The food in the restaurant is OUTSTANDING. Though not every day was my favourite, there was enough to choose from

The reception staff cannot do enough for you so never hesitate to ask Athina or her team for anything. They go to great lengths to provide whatever you need

Amenities are great locally. With Car/Bike hire on your doorstep and the Bus service €1.20, into Kos town has improved significantly over the years

Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Take it from someone who has been there many times !

An excellent holiday in every way. Obviously due to COVID, it was much quieter than it would normally have been during August but that was perfect for me. It was peaceful and relaxing. The location was apparently a short walk away from bars and restaurants, and there was a small beach just down a small road, but I never felt the need to leave the comfort and safety of the hotel with its two pool, taverna, cocktail bar and restaurant. COVID obviously made a difference to the way things worked but most of those things were taken on by the staff and they made you feel completely safe and looked after. They all wore masks at all times and sterilised tables before you sat down. The food in the restaurant, which i presume would normally by buffet service, was plated for you by the excellent and very friendly staff - and it was always fresh and of a much higher standard than I've come to expect from buffets. The food in the poolside taverna was exceptional and again, they did whatever they could to accomodate you. All the staff were brilliant, but a special mention must be made of Dimitris (in the cocktail bar) and Amalia & Markos in the taverna. They remembered me by name immediately and as i was travelling alone, they made sure i felt comfortable. I would heartily recommend the Platanista and will most definitely be returning in the future.

Just returned after spending 11 nights here.
Being totally honest I would say the hotel and grounds could probably achieve 5* the corridors and rooms maybe 3* . Nothing wrong with the rooms at all just a little dated.
The pools are huge and always had beds available. Only 1 bar open due to Covid but I would say the swim up bar would be great .

I only had breakfast there and that was very good with something for everyone.
I never had dinner due to One rather silly rule that Men need long trousers for dinner even though the women can wear what they want! This place is nice but it’s definitely not the ritzs and when it’s In The 30’s outside I couldn’t be bothered to put trousers on just for my dinner only to swap them for shorts again straight after !
I always dress smart and fully understand rules like no vests or wearing a short sleeved shirt but long trousers???

Staff were all very friendly and professional and the whole place was spotless with every surface being constantly sprayed and cleaned .
The location is a good 20 minute walk out of Kos town but because of this you benefit from the huge grounds and peaceful environment that wouldn’t be possible nearer town . Also you have use of a small private beach with a fantastic traditional taverna next to it . Better beaches are available a bus ride away but this one is fine for a few hours of relaxation.
I would highly recommend using the all inclusive option as the hotel is very expensive otherwise and even though your paying for drinks you still only get the small glasses that the all inc customers get. This stopped us spending more time at the hotel but that definitely would have been different had I taken the all inc option.

I would 100% recommend staying here but highly advise going all inclusive even if like me you like the venture out and see the sites . It will pay off even you only use it for drinks and snacks .

The positives of this hotel were that the staff were very helpful and followed COVID rules especially well. Rooms, lobby and pools were also very clean at all times. The hotel feels very safe. Cocktails on the all inclusive menu are all really nice and don’t taste like cheap booze. The hotel beach is also really quiet and Lovely and is great for snorkelling.

However, if you have stayed at an All Inclusive hotel before you may find this one a little weird. On arrival around midnight we were a bit dissatisfied at the the fact there was no snack options as we were hungry after travelling. We were given a bottle of water to share labeled ‘complimentary’ though, we found out later bottled water was not included in the all inclusive (€2.50 per bottle). The breakdown of the all inclusive included snacks after lunch, this consisted of just two things, ice cream and cake. The hotel food also lacked variety, maybe 2/3 main dishes a night with the same sides on repeat, lunch was also similar. The hotel is also a good way out from the main town (45 minute walk) so if you plan on regularly visiting this should be considered. The room we stayed in also felt out dated, the pictures online are very well taken. We also had a late return flight of 8pm, we had been told by other people staying at the hotel that they were allowed to keep their room free of charge. We were told €50 for the day. We never paid this and booked in for the use of a shower at 5pm, we then realised that they handed us over a room key for the shower and we were allowed to stay in the room until we left ( almost conned out of €50). Young people visiting this hotel I would advise to look elsewhere, we felt overlooked at times as we were younger than the average person there.

Me and my partner still had a lovely time in Greece but big improvements need to be made to the hotel to remain a high level all inclusive.

We have just spent a fabulous week in this hotel and will review it in all honesty - warts ‘n all.

Having had 2 holidays cancelled because of Covid we were naturally apprehensive about this trip but decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

Kos was one of the islands that didn’t require quarantine upon return and so when we found this holiday on the TUI website we booked it. Although we weren’t looking for a week of partying, we didn’t want to be on a ‘quiet’ part of the island. Psalidi is a 25 minute beachside walk into Kos town, where there are lots of restaurant, bars, shops (though not chains like Zara etc.) and the most beautiful historical Grecian relics in the old town.

The airport experience from London was very well organised with regards to Covid, however there wasn’t much social distancing on the aircraft. We were in a row of 3 with a stranger sitting next to us!

When we first arrived at Platanista Hotel our first thought was one of disappointment because it didn’t look like a 4 star + platinum hotel, however our feelings changed pretty quickly. The grounds are immaculately clean with 2 beautiful pools, tennis courts, children’s playground etc. Undoubtably the stars of the show are the staff. Absolutely every one of them couldn’t have been more obliging. Chatty, friendly, smiling, helpful, they were wonderful and made such a difference. I would go as far as to say that they were the nicest hotel staff we have ever come across. Everybody worked so hard to make this hotel operate during these difficult times. Staff wore masks at all times.

In the buffet restaurant you choose your food and they serve you with gloved hand. Lots of choice and unlike other people’s comments, always hot.

Our room was very disappointing because it was so dated. Clean but old fashioned. Particularly the bathroom although we did have a bath with a shower attachment and constant very hot water. We weren’t able to watch tv in the room at all during our week because every British channel was scrambled - a major disappointment. We did report it twice to reception but nothing changed. When I booked the hotel I asked for a quiet room and that’s what we got so I was grateful for that.

Here are the pros and cons in my opinion:

PROS:
The very best staff
Lovely location
Restaurant and Taverna great
Pools and public facilities very good
Plenty of sun beds
Plenty of umbrellas

CONS:
Room terribly dated
They charge for coffee at dinner if you are HB which is a bit mean
Pool temperature really cold
TV didn’t work

All in all we had a great week, felt completely safe and are so glad we went. 10/10 to Hotel Platanista for following Covid rules to the letter.

If we returned we would hope to have an updated room. That’s the main thing that would make me at least look at a different hotel

We booked a Holiday at the Platanista after our original holiday was cancelled at the last minute which didn't give us time to do our homework on it. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
From the moment we walked into the hotel you could see all of their hygiene measures. Hand sanitisers everywhere, all the staff wearing masks all of the time and a comforting "just cleaned" smell.
It's a wonderful hotel with staff that were always happy to go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable.
The only downside, and it is a minor downside, is that it's the first all inclusive holiday we've been on were the day time snacks weren't included in the package. Grumble over.
The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the beach but worth the effort. It's a 20-25 minute walk into Kos town for somebody of very average fitness. If you have trouble walking it costs a couple of euros each way on the local bus and 7-8 euros in taxi but very much worth the effort.
Meal times in the hotel were very good. In the 10 days we were there I can't recall the same menu coming up twice. Always plenty of choice and staff that were only too happy serve us.
We will definitely be returning to the Platanista. Hopefully post covid so that we can enjoy the facilities as they ought to be enjoyed.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Platanista Hotel - what a great experience. From the moment we arrived it was clear that they were serious about doing everything they could to keep guests safe from infection. They started by spraying our suitcases before they were taken into the hotel. The cleaning and safety measures were brilliant and as guests it made us feel safe. We opted for a standard room. The room was large, had ample storage, air conditioning, a safe, a fridge, a hairdryer, a flat screen TV and a nice sized balcony, which had a table and chairs. The kettle had been removed because of covid but as we knew in advance, we took our own. The room was cleaned every other day, when the towels and bedsheets were changed. The hotel was spotless and the gardens well maintained. There were plenty of sunbeds and parasols around the pool area, we never struggled to find one regardless of the time of day, pool towels can be hired from reception. The pool bar has a nice seating area which also has an area in the shade. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel. It is a pebble beach (so take your beach shoes) and has a small number of sunbeds, parasols, a shower and a changing room - all free of charge to hotel guests. There is a fitness centre, unfortunately this was closed due to covid. However, some spa treatments were still available. The thing that makes this hotel fantastic is the service. The staff are just so nice! Maria who manages the restaurant has a great rapport with her staff and the guests, the waitresses and waiters are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Normally, the restaurant operates a self service buffet, however, due to covid, it is still a buffet, you choose what you want but the staff plate and serve the food to you. The food is simply delicious! Plenty of choice and lots of variety so you never get bored. The bar staff are friendly and whip up some mean cocktails. We had a great holiday and can understand why there are many people who return year after year. A special mention to Nicole, Nora and Anastasia.

I made 4 visits to Hotel Platanista in 2021 (special pension payment year!!) in June, July/August, September and October and although the weather was different each time the hotel continued to provide guests with all that is required for a great holiday.

The hotel has a programme of development and upgrading which it has started and now offers standard, superior, premium and deluxe with the premium room being the latest developed room with all new furniture/beds walk-in showers and modern bathrooms. The hotel is working on many more rooms to ensure there is a large selection of premium grade rooms for next season.

The hotel is located just 150 meters from their own sandy beach and in walking distance of Kos Town (regular buses run from a stop 150 metres away). The grounds are very nicely maintained as are the buildings.

The food continues to be very nice and offers a very wide choice to those of any dietary need. The hotel is spotlessly clean and if there is any issue and it is reported appropriately to reception it will be dealt with professionally (what is not required is the somewhat odd occasional complaint about an issue that 99.9% of people would not consider a problem such as a slight noise from one person at an outside hotel bar before midnight!!).

I have always maintained that what a lot of visitors find special about the hotel is not only the fabric of the buildings, the pools and grounds or the food it is the staff and that continues to be the case. I cannot think of a single hotel I have been to in in the last 50 years which has so many staff that you wish to engage with regularly.

So, if you are looking for a great place for your Kos holiday you have just found it!

This hotel has fantastic staff, is in a lovely location, with mountains to the back & a sea view to the front, lovely mature & very well maintained gardens & fabulous food.

Lots of hand sanitiser around the hotel and everywhere is kept spotlessly clean including round the pool areas & pool toilets. Yes some of the facilities were not in use (such as the pool bar) but completely to be expected.

Kos Town is an easy flat walk/cycle away and well worth a visit.

We went half board & enjoyed lunch at the pool bar which had an extensive well priced menu plus had some great lunches at some of the small tavernas on the sea front on the way into Kos Town.

If you are looking for a hotel that has great COVID measures in place and who does it with a smile and with wonderful Greek hospitality then look no further than the Hotel Platanista.

We arrived very late at night but reception was welcoming(ftom behind perspex screens and masks).we were checked in speedily and shown to our room buy one of the staff. Cases were put by the door so we were the only ones to enter the room.We were very happy with our room, away from the main hotel with very nice balcony and view. The room was clean,we were not expecting the cleaner as advised on the covid info but she came every other day which was nice but really not needed.
Meals were very well organised, plenty of outdoor tables, all spaced out and thoroughly cleaned after each guest had vacated. The buffet was also organised if you didn't mind waiting sometimes. The staff served the buffet from behind perspex screens and then passed you your plates. The only thing that i would have liked were large info cards above each food item , sometimes the plate was full then you got to the end of the buffet and spotted something else you might have prefered.
All the waiters and waitresses were lovely, efficient and friendly. I must make a special comment about Dimitrios from the upstairs bar. After the first night he remembered our names and what we drank,( we hope your babies arrived safely!!).
As others have said, the area was a little run down but the hotel was great. We enjoy walking so the walk into town was no problem and the opposite way to where we stayed many years ago and beyond.
Just down the road was a convenient,car/cycle hire place. very reasonable.
