This is truly a beautiful location, so peaceful and quiet. The restaurant (your only choice for dining in the area) does not disappoint and is worth every penny. The only downfall of this location is the rooms are starting to show signs of wear and are dating. However don't let that turn you off from staying here, it's a wonderful spot.

I’ve seen lots of ads for this property and although a little pricey we decided to try it. Upon arrival we were very impressed. Check in was great and even though they had issues with their water they gave us bottled water for our stay. We had an riverfront room which had a deck. There are many buildings on this property and we had no trouble finding our room. Upon entered the building where we were staying we were met with a very damp, musty smell. Once we entered our room we no longer encountered this smell. The room was clean and the view was beautiful. The rooms are well appointed, although the couch was very old and we avoided using it. The bed was comfortable but they didn’t take into account not everyone is more than 5’10” tall. I had to use a chair to get into bed.
There are very few restaurants even close to this place so we ate at the restaurant on the property. The food was delicious, but a little pricey. The windows overlook the river and could really use a good cleaning. We had breakfast there in the morning, as again very little close by. Again, pricey.
The recreation building house games, pool table, shuffle board. Could not play. The pool table fabric was ripped and in poor shape, shuffleboard was also in bad shape, we left after only 5 minutes.
Overall, beautiful property.

Spent my first visit to Liscombe with three friends for a Girls Weekend. We stayed in Riverside Lodge where we could see activities on the river. Room was a bit dated but clean,as were all the facilities. The food was delicious. We wondered if we might have a restricted menu for our group weekend but they provided several choices for each of the four meals that were included in the package. Staff was very friendly and helpful- from the front desk, to the dining room to maintenance staff. The weekend included several planned activities including meditation, yoga, pumpkin carving martini night, merchandise bingo and my favourite, a scavenger hunt!
In addition to all this, we had the options of hiking their trails or using a kayak or canoe, swimming, and taking a cruise on the river (for a fee).
This is a wonderful place for a relaxing vacation for everyone and I will be back!

I lived my whole life in Nova Scotia and I remember seeing commercials on television about Liscombe Lodge, but it was only recently that I ended up going - and I regret not having gone sooner!

The lodge itself has a cozy, rustic feel. There are chalets and a hotel (where we stayed). Our room had a balcony overlooking Liscomb River and we were treated to all sorts of wildlife, from eagles to finches, numerous kinds of fish taking flies from the water, and even a seal who must have swam up river in search of some food.

There are plenty of activities to do to keep you busy. Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, boat tours, communal fire pit. We ended up doing the hike to the suspension bridge up Liscomb River and it was well worth it. The scenery was amazing, and it was just an overall peaceful and tranquil hike.

The meals were very good. The breakfasts each morning were a great way to start your day (I would recommend the French toast). And the dinners in the evening were also very tasty. Not to mention the super friendly wait staff.

Overall I would say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Liscombe Lodge, it’s a great getaway to really enjoy Nova Scotia’s pristine nature at its best!

I booked a two night stay for my wife and I to celebrate our 32nd Anniversary … was really looking forward to it. We arrived and were placed in Chalet 15. Quite nice except for the 4:30AM wake up call from the rooster, hens, goats, etc that were literally located in their pens 10 feet from the chalet. This was absolutely not acceptable. The next morning we went to the front desk and inquired if ear plugs were available. The staff were very well aware of the “rooster” problem and they re-located us to Chalet 6A.

The staff was very aware of the issue and we much appreciated they moved us and we had a wonderful sleep the second night. We were told that the owner is also very aware of the rooster issue but refuses to do anything about moving the location of the pens.

We were given a full refund for the first night but … owner “Mike”, we understand you have been aware of this for a long time and this is totally unacceptable! You need to move the pens.

Lots of great aspects of the stay at the resort but my recommendation is that if the animals are not relocated on the property (and there is lots of other spaces for them) that none of the lodgings within several hundred feet are suitable or worth the cost … remember Chalet 15 is in the eye and stay away from it and the surrounding chalets. There are wonderful other chalets on the property.

Having read reviews raving about this place, we decided an overnight stay which unfortunately left with back pain.
The room we stayed in looked nothing like any of the pictures. It was very tired whilst the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever tried to sleep in. It was so bad, I had no sleep and now have back pain.
During late afternoon we wanted to have a drink outside, which although was possible, the patio had not been tended to so was shabby and dirty. We did stay as we did not want to go back to the uncomfortable room (we couldn't go inside since we had our dog with us) and ordered a couple of cocktails which were served in basic , shabby half pint glasses which was disappointing.
The main restaurant is ok, with very friendly staff. The meal was average, unlike the reviews, where my husband's steak and my duck were both over cooked.
This place is in a beautiful location but unfortunately needs a lot of work to address the tiredness, the uncomfortableness, and shabby state of its catering facilities.
The reviews definitely did not reflect what we experienced.

We have stayed at the liscombe lodge several times in the past and have always enjoyed our time there.
Unfortunately this time was disappointing.
We had a suite in the main lodge that was very comfortable if a bit tired in places.. No complaints here.
However on our arrival there were bags of laundry left on the stairs that remained there for the duration of our visit and didn't give a good impression. The work room below our room with clear windows and boxes etc visible also made the area look less welcoming.
In the morning about 6.45 we were woken by several knocks on the door and then a man entered and asked if we wanted our luggage taken. We were still in bed and I think he thought we were part of a coach party that occupied the rest of the building.
Our main issue was the restaurant. We had made a reservation well in advance and on our arrival checked to ensure it was still ok. However, when we came down to dinner the restaurant was full with a coach party of 44 and we were told that our meal would take a while because of this. This should have been highlighted when we booked and we would have changed our times. Possibly because the kitchen was under pressure we both found our food mediocre. Scallops over cooked. Burger burnt. The worst meal of our two week holiday and the most expensive. All other venues we had visited provided top class fresh food cooked superbly.
This put us off having breakfast the next day.
This experience was a shame as there are so many lovely places to stay in Canada that we will probably not return to liscombe lodge.
On checking out we did report our issues to the receptionist.

We came annually for a 1 week family vacation for 15 years but we moved out of province and this was our first time back in 4 years. We were so excited to return and we enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking and campfires by the falls. The meals in the restaurant were delicious and the service was excellent as always. We stayed in Chalet 10 which has been upgraded and we really enjoyed the location. The only downsides were the very large price increase (we booked for last year at a much lower price then had to cancel) and the fact that a number of the staff members we looked forward to seeing are either gone or working on a very limited basis. Chester only does boat tours on the weekends now and this is a real shame as he is so very helpful and he has so many stories about the local area to share.

We came here for our anniversary. Won’t do that again unless there are major changes. Our room is just fine with a great view but we are stuck next to a loud family which made it very uncomfortable. Dinner was hopefully the high point. Great menu and we were so excited for some great food. How do you make a home made bun tasteless? Wow. Short ribs had great fresh veg. Short ribs absolutely tasteless. Pasta was so over sauced it was like wall paper paste. We mentioned when we booked, then again when we made our dinner reservation it was our anniversary. Thought maybe they may recognize it.... nope! Our server told us several times how tired she was and how she could hardly wait to go home, sure made us want to have a leisurely dinner...not! Not even an offer for dessert, she couldn’t get us out fast enough. Liscombe time to get your act together. If nothing else time for food that has some flavour.

We picked the Liscombe Lodge as part of our trip to Sherbrooke Village which was awesome and nearby. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room. My husband said it was one of the best meals he had in years. The server made us feel at home and the meals weren’t fancy but delicious. There were some unique game options on the menu plus regular fare. The dining room had customers of all ages and the families looked to be enjoying their meals, too. We would go back and dine here again. We chose a cabin and we were glad we did. The cabins faced the river and the view and sound of the river were soothing. The king bed was very comfortable and electric fireplace a nice touch. This is an older resort so the cabins aren’t fancy but we were content. Great shower, nice amenities, nice linens.
