Lovely, lovely hotel, right on the water with private beach. It was probably recently renovated because it’s sparkling clean and looks like new. Large bright rooms with balconies to enjoy the Tyrrhrenian Sea right in front. Hotel restaurant with excellent chef, breakfast is served at the hotel and included. Exceptionally helpful personnel and very reasonably priced. We had grilled swordfish, the local specialty with is the best I ever tasted.

stayed for one night in April 2012. Staff very courteous and good value for money. Rooms nothing special but very comfortable bed and clean. Had a balcony with a nice view over the ocean. As with most places in Italy breakfast was included with great coffee! For the price we paid (80 euro) would happily stay here again. Could imagine it would be a wonderful place to stay during summer!

We had a wonderful experience at Sabbia D'Oro. The staff were extremely courteous and professional. Domenico and Vincenzo were always available and made our stay extremely comfortable and inviting. The hotel room was extremely clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The food and wine were fantastic! The quality of food and service was the best we have ever experienced in all of our travels. Giuseppe attended to our every need and was so courteous and polite. The location of the hotel is perfect. Right on the beach and close to nearby amenities. We traveled with a family of five people and we all enjoyed our stay here. We did not want to leave. We will definitely return to Sabbia D'oro upon our return to Calabria.

Spent an entire week here and hated to leave. The hotel is clean, modern, and on the beach with magnificent views of the sea. The food and staff were wonderful, can't say enough about Giuseppi and Danielo. At the front desk Dominico was so helpful, welcoming, and always offering a warm smile. Also at the desk Vincenzo again so helpful, friendly, and welcoming. Vincenzo also assisted me with connecting with my roots in nearby Mammola, Italy. I can't wait to come back with my family. I would recommend to all as the best Hotel in Calabria.

We stayed here in Aug 2012 for 10 days while visiting Wife's family. As it was my first time visiting italy i had low expectations. the hotel is situated steps from the beach, and the staff are very accomodating and friendly. Our room was a double room with a balcony that overlooked the ocean. If i were in the US i would compare this hotel to a modest bed and breakfast room with no real amenities, but suppossedly for the town of calabria this was a deluxe room. Room aside the location to everything was the key factor in choosing this hotel. i would rate this hotel as average for a US hotel and abover average for where we were in italy.

here are my pros and cons if you are staying here in the future.

Pros
Close proximity to beach
staff friendly and helpful
restaurant albeit pricy was good.
cleaning staff very professional.
automatic blackout curtains
reserved seating at the beach for hotel guests.
good value for the money
great views from balconies
Air conditioning was great

Cons
No self serve ice machine, staff will get you a bucket but you will have to ask nice if you want them to fill a cooler for you.
No Internet the only free wifi in the town is at the mall, which is 10 min drive from the hotel.
the fridges in the rooms do not get very cold, ours was basically not working.
the bathrooms are ridiculously small, the standup shower is not well suited for larger or tall people.
They frequently have weddings at the hotel so the sound of music is heard late at night. we stayed there for 10 nights and there were 6 weddings.
The parking garage is awful it is a three level garage with about 15 spots total, also it is very tight in the garage, my brother in law scraped the side of the rental car on the stucco columns when trying to leave the garage, opt for street parking if it is available.
The hotel has light switches on every floor to turn on the hall lights, whereas im all for saving the environment it was annoying to have to turn on 5 light switches when walking from your room to the elevator.
No swimming pool
no rolls of toilet paper it was a napkin dispenser.
free breakfast is very minmal basically some croissants, yogurt, cookies, fruit and drinks.

We have stayed here numerous times and have never been disappointed. The rooms are impeccable and clean, the staff is very helpful and welcoming, the food in the dining room is fresh and delicious. We appreciate the family-run atmosphere and the southern Italian hospitality. We look forward to our yearly trip to Calabria and Hotel Sabbia D'Oro is definitely a big part of our wonderful experience.

The Sabbia D'Oro is a charming, comfortable hotel with fabulous beach access. The view of the sea and sky from one's balcony is truly spectacular. The staff are efficient, friendly, and helpful. I'd go back in a minute!

At short notice I found myself having to spend a night in this seaside town and chanced upon Sabbia d’Oro. Not the sort of place I would normally stay but the room with terrace was excellent and the service more than correct. In the morning I realised I was one of only three guests so I could probably have haggled harder on the rate. But in these strange times where the hospitality industry is struggling so much it feels almost predatory to do so.

This was an amazing find. A++++ accommodation. Friendly service from the moment you walked in the door. Rooms were exceptional and huge. Nothing was any trouble. They even brought portable clothesline to the room so we could hang out some washing. Maria looked after us well every morning for breakfast. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. They assisted us with any needs we had during our 6 day stay. Spectacular views. The only place to stay in Gioiosa Marina!!!! Famiglie Cutrone and Edwards

We Stayed here for just over 2 weeks while we visited and explored nearby villages in calabria and we loved every day. Apart from the hotel being of a good standard, comfortable and spotlessly clean the staff made this trip unforgettable. From the front desk reception to the breakfast waiters and even the cleaners and beach attendants, they all treated us so well and we felt welcomed from day one. Nothing was too much trouble and they met all our requests. we loved the little chats and kidding around, we had so much fun. The location was good, right across the road from the beach and they have their own private beach area with lounges and umbrella (extra cost). Lots of places to eat nearby (in the summer months with cafes and restaurants set up on the beach open until late) . Breakfast was ok, continental style with not much variety. We ate at the restaurant only once and the food was delicious and very generous portions. Wifi was only available in the foyer although they were in the midst of trying to get it to the rooms. In all this is a good hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it. Thanks to domenico, Vincenzo and the all the guiseppe's and the rest of the staff that made this a most memorable stay.
