The 'Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach garners praise for its prime location just steps from Waikiki Beach and local attractions. However, some guests have reported dissatisfaction with the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms, citing outdated decor and mildew. While the stunning lobby and aquarium are highlights for many, the noise levels, particularly around the pool area, can be disruptive. The hotel's amenities, including the Longboard Club and beach gear rentals, are popular, yet some reviewers caution against additional fees and question the overall value. Service quality at the 'Alohilani appears to be inconsistent, with accolades for the staff's friendliness but also concerns regarding housekeeping and responsiveness.

We had a great stay at the 'Alohilani resort - excellent service from all of the staff, easy check in/ check out. The room was squeaky clean with a great view of Diamondhead / the ocean.

We used the Longboard Club which saved us a lot of money on food & drink. The breakfast had hot items as well as a lot of fruit & healthy options. They also had snacks & wine/beer in the afternoon which was great for happy hour.

Very easy walk to the beach, beautiful pool with a peekaboo view of the ocean. The one day they had water aerobics which was very fun.

We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed a week for the Christmas holidays... What I really liked was the ambiance. The decor is minimalist, modern, with big open spaces and chunky furniture. The location was perfect ...buzzing Waikiki but just enough off the beaten path that you had a feeling of escape from the crowds once you got into the glorious massive lobby with its vast openness and cool furnishings. The massive two story aquarium is a sight to behold. On the 5th floor was an infinity pool with cool views of the city and ocean. The service for drinks and yummy food there was on point. The hip style Christmas music was softly playing in the background making hanging out there super nice...
We paid for a Diamond Head View Room and got a wonderful bonus of being able to see an expanse of ocean too. From the 34th floor the view was breathtaking. Housekeeping was great. The Longboard Club was great. The staff was great. Overall, we enjoyed our stay immensely and got our money's worth. It was very easy to rent surfboards and boogie boards from two nearby locations. (One on the beach, and one called Moku a block away). And the glorious beaches were a short walk across one street in front of the hotel. Alohilani exceeded our expectations and we would recommend.

We stayed at the Alohilani Resort which was a lovely relaxing and modern resort. The location was great, being across the road from the protected beaches which was perfect for our 3 year old and walking distance to the shops, trolleys, restaurants etc. We stayed in one of the partial ocean view rooms, which was spacious and tidy, bed was comfortable and bathroom was a good size complete with bidet(really liked the warm toilet seat!). The staff were all very helpful and lovely. The pool area was great and relaxing, we enjoyed dinner by the pool one evening watching the sunset. There were pitied water taps at the lifts which were great so you didn’t have to buy water everyday.
The only thing would be the noise coming from the street at night but I think you would experience this with hotels along the main street.
Overall a really lovely place to stay, for all types of families.

Overall the hotel was great. The location was right on the Waikiki strip, the amenities included a great pool deck including an infinity pool and kids pool, daily free lei/hula classes in the lobby, a gym, and batting cages. Staff were friendly and accommodating throughout the hotel.

Where the hotel could improve is in the guest rooms. The bathroom in our room was incredibly small. You could barely close the door without shuffling to the side and there were cobwebs in the corner of the bathroom ceiling. We also experienced some noise issues. When we checked in we were informed there was going to be a fashion show on the pool deck (we didn't think much of it). However, it turned into a full on Vegas DJ show that had the walls of our room shaking until almost 11pm. This was especially painful as we were travelling with our 4 month old baby who was kept awake screaming. In the morning I did speak to the front desk staff and they refunded our resort fee however that was not the start to a relaxing vacation I was hoping for.

Also, the connecting door between our room and the next allowed us to hear everything the people in the next room were saying. Full conversations, what tv shows they were watching, etc. I can only imagine how the guests enjoyed our screaming baby.

My husband and I booked to stay at the Alohilani for four nights to end our trip to Hawaii. We were looking for luxury given we were celebrating our honeymoon and at the time of booking, we were pleased to find a 'new and exciting' resort that wasn't as dated as some of the original and more famous hotels nearby.

Although the entrance is grand and the fish tank wonderful, this hotel lacks charm, service and we were incredibly disappointed to have spent as much as we did staying there.

Upon check in we were invited to spend an additional $60USD a night to 'upgrade' our room. Thankfully we had already been clued up about this 'upgrade' process from our Uber driver who explained the front desk staff work on commission if they can convince you to upgrade. As such, and because we had already paid a substantial amount of money for the original room rate, we declined. We were placed in a 6th floor room, adjacent to the pool - the noise of the DJ and the pool guests being able to look directly into our room was not what we expected. Neither was the 'partial ocean view', which was directly onto a carpark and neighbouring hotels. Having phoned concierge, we were grateful to be moved to a room on a higher floor, with a much better view - however, we were unsure as to why this room wasn't offered to us from the outset, given it was the same room rate.

The pool has its merits, however it is located in a bad position and incredibly windy. The sun is blocked for most of the day by one of the hotel's towers, so you've got better chance of getting a tan and enjoying the sunshine at the beach which, pleasing, is only across the street. The service at the pool is poor. They offer you a menu upon arrival, but seldomly come by to take your order.

We were delighted to receive a 'honeymoon' treat in our room from the hotel (although it strangely arrived at the end of our second night) and were grateful for this thoughtful gesture. In addition, the beds are in incredibly comfortable and house keeping did an excellent job to maintain our room each day. However, truly for the money we spent, this hotel was absolutely not worth it.

They provide you with a refillable water bottle to save the environment, but then only provide you with paper cups to prepare tea and coffee in your room...we phoned concierge for additional tea and coffee pods one evening and despite two phone calls, they never arrived. The bathrooms, as mentioned in many other reviews, are VERY small. Our general experience was that the staff are not particularly friendly, nor do they appear to be experienced or trained. Our vists to other hotels were far more welcoming and hospitable. It appears that this hotel, still in its infancy, is learning the ropes.

It is not worth the inordinate amount of money (room rates, resort fees etc) they charge.
We would not stay here again.

Upon arrival, check-in was a very smooth process. Due to the pandemic, we had to do a temperature check and show our negative test results on the Hawaii travel website. This made me feel pretty safe about staying here since all guests will be negative and it will lower the risk of the virus spread in public areas.

We were also upgraded to a partial beach view room which we were super happy about! It’s nice to be able to watch the sunset from our balcony and also check if the beach is packed!

Once we arrived to our room, we noticed that it had a seal indicating that it had been sanitized and there was also a little package with a mask and anti-bacterial wipes for those who need it.

Something to note is that the resort won’t have any daily cleaning if you’re there for less than 4 nights. However, you can always ask for more towels/toiletries with just a call to the front desk. We were leaving after the 4th night, so our room did get a bit messy with all sand we brought in from the beach.

I really enjoyed the amenities at this resort! We went to the pool/hot tub a couple times and even checked out the rooftop tennis courts! We wish we brought our rackets and some balls so we can actually utilize it. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. We got lost trying to find the gym and an employee walked us there. When we were checking out, they happily stored our luggage for us until we were ready to leave for the airport. The location is PRIME! We’re right across from the beach so we didn’t really need to bring much except for some towels. And if we forgot anything, it’s only a minute walk back to the hotel. We were also walking distance to many popular restaurants and this was super helpful on the days we had to work from our room since we can easily run out for a quick bite. The internet was also fantastic and we were able to do our work seamlessly. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay!

Overall this hotel is fantastic - I’ve stayed in several Waikiki hotels and this is one of the top three best.

We stayed at the Hilton village and wound up moving because we wanted a more adult friendly hotel environment.

Management needs, NEEDS to do something about the pool area. Our first day here we tried to get in the pool and it was absolutely overrun with toddlers and children screaming, jumping and splashing in the hot tub and infinity pool. Parents were nowhere in sight and the splashing and screaming became too much so we just went to our rooms. The next day we came back and by 8am the pool and hot tub were full of children. It was also absolutely filthy. Cigarette butts, hair, bandaids, plastic cups floating. I said something to the concierge who were kind enough to knock a day of resort fees off our bill.

They have rules posted everywhere about kids under five not being allowed in, children under 13 needing to be supervised, and there’s even a children’s pool but the staff refused to say anything to the parents. I get it, you don’t want to offend parents who are paying an arm and a leg for their vacation. But the pool, which is ultimately why we booked this hotel, was unusable. We could also hear the screaming all day and night from our room, even with the balcony door closed.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and prior to our arrival, I had requested an upgrade to a room with a view and because there were notes on my account, when we arrived, they did all they could to accommodate us and we were happy to pay for the additional cost per night. Prior to the upgrade, we were going to be placed on a lower floor where you could probably hear the nightly set of the dj loud and clear and that would have annoyed me , so we ended up on the 33rd floor with a view of Diamondback and the ocean. We could still hear the music at night, but it was not too loud since we were higher up as I recall the pool area is located on the 5th floor.
This is a beautiful hotel, but if you want beach access, this is not for you. This hotel is located on the main strip and across the street from the beach. If you would like to sit on the beach, they also do not have an area dedicated to the hotel so you are on your own with finding space which is not too hard.
The front desk staff was very nice and the valet guys were awesome. We enjoyed the pool a couple of times during our stay and the food was good, however, the pool is not that big and if you want a prime spot, I suggest you arrive early as it fills up quickly. We never got a chance to enjoy the pool area during the dj's sets, but if you want to party, this is your hotel. I do not recommend this for families or anyone wanting a nice and quiet relaxing vacation.
The rooms were also just ok and for the upgrade, I expected a bit more, but it was an average hotel room with modern touches and a really low toilet which was uncomfortable. I am only 5'3" and the toilet was too low for me, also the space with the toilet and shower is a tad cramped.
Our safe did not work so we had to get crafty with hiding our jewels and they also do not offer daily maid service. They give you a calendar during check in that highlights the days for cleaning and if you want additional days, there is a charge. I am sure this is only due to Covid and that this is not the norm.
Overall, it was nice and because we were busy with excursions, we did not spend too much time at the hotel and the only bad experience was as it got closer to the weekend, we began to experience lines (moved quickly) for the elevator.

The hotel said that due to COVID they can only clean the room every 4 days. If you want your room cleaned any extra days it would cost an extra $45. We only had 4 towels to use for 4 days while on the beach. The customer service was terrible. When I checked in they asked if I would like to have my card on the room so that they can put the charges to my card if I went to use any other amenities. I declined. For 2 days in a row at 2:30AM I would get random charges to my credit card from this place that I did not agree to. When I called they said that it was a glitch and that they will return my money but it would take 5-7 business days. It has been well over 5-7 business days and the charge is still there. They do not offer anything to compensate for their mistake and that I have to take time out of my vacation to be on the phone constantly for towels and to get these charges taken out of my card. I do not recommend this place at all. When we had dinner another guest said they were staying at another facility that cleaned their rooms everyday. You would think that due to covid they would have to keep the facility cleaner to decrease the spread. I will never come back ever again. It is not worth the money. I've stayed at much better resorts that really does make you feel luxurious.

Very special thanks to Trang for her thoughtful service and care during my entire stay!
She truly is an amazing host and manager at the Alohilani Resort

If you’re looking for a luxurious, elegant and modern hotel in Waikiki, this is it! Trust me, it’s not so easy to find a sleek and sexy, all inclusive hotel in Waikiki. Most hotels are a bit dated and location is also Important. This attractive resort hotel is situated right by the water and so you get stunning views of the ocean and Waikiki skyline. The grounds are impeccable and If you manage to get club level access, which i highly recommend, you get private access to their longboard club which serves breakfast and dinner daily. Service at the club is bar none I might add and the setup is very nice with outdoor seating with lounges, sleek fireplaces and cabanas, or elegant indoor dining, as well. The food is served buffet style and they’re mainly light bites in regards to dinner with a pasta chef on the grounds. I must speak on the pool and cabanas, as well. So beautiful! The expansive infinity pool is sleek and it looks out to the ocean for all you instagrammers, it’s a perfect photo opp. There’s a large hot tub adjacent to the pool, as well. The cabanas are private and nicely appointed with sun chairs on a wading pool for you to enjoy. They’ve got a dj playing the latest edm, pop and hip hop for you to enjoy throughout the day and night and the vibe is very cool and chill. Cabana rentals run from 10am to 5pm or 6pm to 10pm and the cost is about 500$
I did the daytime cabana rental and it was fantastic! Great music, good vibes and based on the crowd it appeared to be the place to be seen.
The grounds also boast some of the finest restaurants, which include
Morimoto Asia which is Iron Chef Morimoto’s creative take on various styles of Asian cuisine. We were seated with a beautiful view of the ocean and the service was efficient and friendly. I highly recommend the sticky sweet ribs, A5 Miyazaki Wagyu on the hot stone, The Duck and the Chocolate Orb for dessert. You’ll thank me later!
Overall, I had an absolutely amazing stay here with easy access to the nearby beach and my room view was stunning.

Highly Recommended!!!
