We have been going to Cedar cove for the past 5 years. The last 2 years and this year(2008)we have booked for two weeks instead of one week. Great holiday. We live in Ottawa which is an hour away. Great fishing. Great boating. Nice pool and ok beach. As we are all adults we can relax on the beach or on the boat. Overall we like it though more expensive than other places, you do have access to a pool, games room nice restaurant and a little store. By the way just like the previous owners, the new owners are fantastic. They are very helpful and ensure that your stay with them is enjoyable.

We stayed in Cottage 1. It was clean, newly renovated, and fit our family perfectly. The neighbors (not all cottages here are rentals) were also really nice. Grounds were kept in impeccable condition. The pool was right outside our door, the beach was just down at the bottom of the road and was cleaned daily. Great spot for kids.

Unlike most people, we actually came here *for* the winter, and not the summer. We signed into a winter-long lease from October until May. We've been here for about one month, now.

Not only is the location ideal and scenic - but a little snow turns this place into an incredible, beautiful winter wonderland. Highly overlooked. Quiet. Cozy. Nature at some of it's best Canadian lakeland and woods in this region has to offer.

I have read the reviews of some experiences in other cottages, but Cottage #1 is immaculate. I am told the private owner of this cottage has invested a good deal of time and money into this unit. It shows. The kitchen is so well equipped - it came with a garlic press and tea-bag strainer! I've not once had to purchase cleaning equipment or supplies. My own home, prior to moving aboard our boat, was not as well equipped.

Large screen TV with Bell expressvu service. More room than we could need with all the beds. This cottage had crisp white linens waiting for us on the beds, and the porch BBQ has been used more than once since we arrived!

The owner appears to be courteous and prompt to address any small issues that have arisen (new floorboard heaters had been defective at owner's purchase, but promptly replaced). As any decent landlord, he's been invisible when you want him to be, but available when you need him to be.

In short, I'm sorry to see other fellow Cedar Cove visitors have had bad experiences but we're happy to recommend this place (at least this cottage) to any couple, or family who wants to experience winter in conservative decadence, and immersed in nature's winter the way all we Canadians should - at least once!!

We rented Cottage #3 for a week and the place was a huge disappointment. It was dirty! There was mold growing in the bottom of the toaster, the cottage had not been cleaned and the place was not as it was advertised. The beach was weedy, there was no privacy whatsoever and the fire pit was an old propane tank. We tried to get our money back because we were concerned about health issues and they wouldn't. Save your money. Don't go to this place it is dirty and definitely not what it seems.

If you are from out of the country. You will need a boater's license to rent a boat. This will cost you $50 it is a one time fee if you need to take it more than once. You can take this online before you go on vacation. Go to boatersexam.com. This is more in depth than you would think. Alot of Sea info. There is a study guide you can print out and review. Also there is a practice test. We ended up going to the library to take the test. Also, Camera got stolen at boat dock. Watch all posessions while there. Campsites are very close together and you MUST know how to back up in tight spots. We did have a blast and the bugs were not bad.

The kids would rate this "Above Average", but to be fair, we are regulars so maybe this would be "Average" for newcomers.

We have booked cottages (cabins) at Cedar Cove for the last 5 years in a row. There are 3 families that travel together - 5 children, 6 adults. We rent 2-3 cottages depending on the ones we are getting (they are different sizes). By no means is Cedar Cove perfect, but the children (currently aged 7-12) LOVE it here and they look forward to their week's vacation here every single year. They happily spend hours just amusing themselves walking around, riding their bikes, swimming in the pool, playing on the beach, going to the youth recreation centre thing, fishing, etc. The cottages have enough amenities to survive rainy days inside if necessary, and we cook almost every meal on the BBQ on the deck. In our opinion, the cottage rentals are great if you aren't into camping/tenting (we aren't) but you still want to stay in a full-service campsite type of place. There can be problems, for sure, but nothing that would make us considering stopping an annual vacation there. If it were just adults, we'd probably get bored...but the children always have a wonderful time with so much for them to do that we adults can easily spend our days napping, reading magazines, relaxing, etc. without having to amuse children. The fact there is a pool along with the beach, and lots of walking/biking paths is great. The little store helps, too .. and the nearest village (Pakenham) is kind of cute for when you really need a break from Cedar Cove.
