After almost 13 years staying at another gay resort in Maspalomas, we changed things this year and very pleased that we did. This is a much smaller resort than others but it is beautifully formed and suited us down to the ground. The garden suite was lovely and spacious and well appointed.

What was great was the attention to detail. For example, we both have double espressos in the morning but I have mine at the end and my husband as soon as he sits down. After day 1 asking for this, we had the same every day. Same with breakfast orders - if we asked for something a bit different, it was noted and we never had to ask again. The breakfasts are really good with everything from eggs benedict to waffles to french toast and bacon. We also had lunch a few times and the food was very good then too.

Gerry and Andree were very approachable and nothing was too much of a hassle. One of the really good things seemed to be that, as we were having breakfast, our room was cleaned. It was as if they were watching for us to go in and then leapt into action.

The location was a bit of a worry for us for noise as we were only a few minutes from Yumbo. However, we heard nothing all night every night. Not even other guests coming in. As we say, Yumbo was a few minutes away so easy to get to the bars and clubs. The bar in the resort shuts at 6pm which always felt a bit early for us as we quite often like a wee drink about then, however, we had a huge fridge which was well stocked with drinks (not over expensive) and we could keep our own drinks chilled. Other little touches that we liked included the Nespresso machine (and well stocked pods), Bose speakers, built-in USB to the headboard and good complimentary toiletries.

Thanks to the team for giving us a great holiday and we have already booked for the following year.

Fantastic 5 star Boutique Resort

First visit to the birdcage resort but not my last; I will be back. 24-29 Jan 2022

The service I received from the minute I arrived, to the minute I left was absolutely outstanding, the staff were so friendly and committed to making sure you have everything you needed to enjoy your holiday. If you want I really truly up market bespoke exclusive resort, this is for you!

Andree, the general manager was amazing and very attentive when checking in, very professional and efficient, and always had a smile.

Darren, English, really gave a friendly and warm welcome, with lots of advice and guidance to the resort & surrounding areas, which is really appreciated.

Pavel, never stood still amazingly busy looked after everything and anything, he is a real asset to the team, well done and thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Tom, again very attentive always with a smile and always keen to ensure you’re happy.

All in all, nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, Including the housekeeping team that kept the resort and your room immaculate.

The rooms were delightful at all the amenities you would expect from a five star hotel, slippers, dressing gowns, toiletries, top of the range coffee machine, fully stocked fridge, even an umbrella just in case. Not forgetting the bottle of Cava and fresh fruit complimentary as a welcome gift! Overall outstanding.

The pool was very Refreshing and the Jacuzzi the perfect temperature, emptied & cleaned every day, the surrounding gardens and beach area were truly beautiful as well as offering real shade as and when required.

The seating area by reception is also a great social area, full of books DVDs and magazines with wonderful stocked bar where you can meet and socialise with other guests.

With the resort only being 20 minutes from the airport and five minute walk to the Yambo centre it is perfectly placed for the town, shops, restaurants and bars.
All only a just stroll away!

Thank you so much Birdcage team for making my holiday so wonderful, I look forward to returning soon.

Best wishes

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Birdcage Resort. From the moment you arrive the staff make you feel special and welcome. Nothing is too much for them. The resort itself is laid out so as you never really feel like anyone else is there. Breakfast is an absolute pleasure with a beautiful buffet and the option of a range of hot options.

We’ve had two different rooms inside this resort and both have every amenity you could ask for, with a mini bar/fridge which is amazingly stocked and replenished daily.

When we return to Gran Canaria, we wouldn’t stay at anywhere else but Birdcage and can’t recommend Birdcage enough.

I visited Birdcage with my boyfriend in March to celebrate his birthday and to refill with sunshine after the winter in northern Europe. At arrival we were greeted in a beautiful garden by friendly, helpful staff. A great first impression which lasted throughout our visit.

The location of Birdcage was perfect for our needs. Walking distance to the beach, and only a few minutes walk from Yumbo yet not so close that we were bothered by the music at night.

The resort itself, from the bottom of the pool to the top of the roof, is absolutely gorgeous: modern, in great condition, and looks like it receives a lot of love. The staff we met was always pleasant and eager to help, with queries or providing drinks by the pool. Every day they were doing gardening, cleaning, etc.,in a non-intrusive way. No wonder the place looks great!

Our room was spaceous and very clean. It was kept in perfect condition with modern design and materials. We had a large bathroom which also looked recently refurbished. Designers sometimes prefer form over function. The bathroom really was beautiful, I would just personally have prefered a less modern but more practical water faucet, and a door for the shower niche that covers the whole opening and not only half, to keep water from splashing on the bathroom floor. None of these things were a big issue, just preference. We slept very well and were not bothered by any noise from outside or other guests. We also appreciated the external blinds on the windows so we could keep the room dark and sleep in after sunrise.

We loved the breakfast which made for a great start of every single day. Like the rest of the resort the setting was just beautiful. The buffet was really good and the kitchen orders were delicious! And once again, greeted every day by smiling, helpful staff. A special surprise was on my boyfriend's birthday where we arrived at a decorated table and a little cake with a candle. My boyfriend was really touched. Unfortunately I could not take credit for it :-)

Thanks to all the staff we met at Birdcage. You all contributed to a magical vacation for us and we can't wait to visit again!

Of all of the resorts I have stayed in, Birdcage is right up there with the best of them. It is very well situated as it is close to all of the gay clubs yet far enough away from them to allow for a great night's sleep. It is wonderfully quiet and very secure. A little piece of heaven tucked away at the end of a quiet street.

The grounds and the pool are immaculately maintained. Breakfast is served on the sun terrace (full silver service) and it is excellent with a selection of buffet items like fruits, juices, breads, cheeses and meats and you can also select your hot choice from the kitchen too.

The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. A big shout-out to Sema, Roland, Tom and of course the wonderful Andre. The rooms are maintained daily by Enrique and his team... by the time you get back to your room after breakfast, the bed is made, the bathroom is cleaned, and the well stocked minibar is replenished. The beds are very comfortable and the bed linen is top quality. It's their attention to detail that sets Birdcage Resort apart from the others. They are simply excellent.

Pool towels and cushions are free to use. Food and drinks can be ordered remotely at any time by the simple push of a button.

I would not consider staying anywhere else when in Playa-del-Ingles. It would be difficult for me to recommend anywhere else to stay. Highly recommended.

What a fabulous stay!
We booked and garden suite and were allocated The Nightingale Cage suite.

It was perfect. Private but a stones throw from the pool.

The room had everything needed. Large fridge freezer well stocked with well priced drinks and snacks but you can also fill with your own.

A huge sofa and TV and Bose speaker in the lounge and a great large comfy bed in the bedroom. Air con worked a treat and was well needed. The bathroom was equipped with everything needed.

The resort itself it’s small and perfect. With just 9 rooms it never felt crowded.

The pool which is open 24 hours was heated to just the right temperature that it never felt chilly.
The jacuzzi was open from 10am - 10pm and was warm!

The grounds are kept really well and it’s like a tropical oasis.

The staff are about as friendly as you’ll find anywhere.
Special mention to ‘Sema’ who literally does not stop, but always has time to bring his humour and friendly ness around with him.

Roland was also great, along with Andre.

The people we met were friendly, and as the first clothing optional resort we’ve visited any reservations about this soon went out the window as there was a no judgement feel.

We lived in Gran Canaria for 3 years and visit often, and can’t believe we’ve never stayed here before. This won’t be our last visit!

A 5 min walk to the Yumbo but you could literally be anywhere. Relaxing. Private. Friendly. It really was perfect.

Thanks to all for a really amazing stay!

We are a little late writing our review after our stay at The Birdcage over Christmas and New Year due to returning back to normal hectic life but we just wanted to thank Tom and Stefan for an amazing holiday and for being such lovely hosts. All the staff at The Birdcage are fantastic but we have to give a special mention to Roland and Ralf as we dealt them more on a day to day basis and they were so attentive and couldn’t do enough to help. We have stayed at several places in Gran Caneria but nowhere comes close to The Birdcage, the food is amazing, especially the breakfast and the bacon is out of this world!
The gardens and pool area is so tranquil and relaxing. All of the rooms are beautiful, spacious, high end with all modern amenities and extra large smart tv’s…your room is also cleaned daily as if by magic while you eat breakfast. Another nice thing about The Birdcage is the other guests that you meet at breakfast or while laying round the pool who you spark up conversation, become friends and make connections with. When you stay at The Birdcage you forget your staying at a resort….it feels like your home away from home. We have already booked and very much looking forward to our 2024 holiday at The Birdcage.

I have just finished a wonderful few days stay. I looooved every minute of it. Andraas makes you feel at home and Roland makes sure you are well look after. They are both AMAZING. If you are like me, a Mimosa lover, you will be in heaven during bfast. Location could not get any better!! Walking distance everywhere + a bus stop 1 min walk to any point of the island by public transport. I have no doubt, the place to stay in Playa del Inglés!

Birdcage Resort, just remember this name for the best bungalow resort/hotel in Maspalomas (playa del Ingles). We’ve stay for 13 days last October 2021 (1 oct – 13 oct 2021). Stepping behind the entrance in a beatifull garden, i was immediately struck by the beautiful and silence garden area. Green and look like a little oasis...very welcoming atmosphere. The staff Roland and Pablo were very professional, friendly and extremely helpful. Also the manager André a friendly and good person. They always greeting and smiling to us and helpful by things we'd like to change something in our room and so happened. The breakfasts were very good. The location of the hotel is excellent, less than a five minute walk from Yumbo. The room (phönix cage) have a very spacious bathroom and the room is well equipped with all essentials and have a fantastic view. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to the tourists who want to go to GC and the Yumbo). Will be back to this place soon..!!

This must be my favourite hotel in GC so far. The garden is a paradise and so well maintained, and the public spaces could not be more comfortable (there was a useful water fountain and a shop by the office). It small and therefore very peaceful. My room was Dove Cage and it was very secluded. Breakfast hours were perfect for late birds. The pool area is very sunny but the sun parasols though pretty, were not adjustable. There is a nice supermarket very nearby, and the Yumbo was a brief walk away. But the best thing of all was the friendly staff, they were so accommodating.

Hi Karen. I think you’ll find this resort is men only. Certainly it’s clothing optional so not sure it would be the right venue for you and your son.

I think the weather in Jan will be much better than the U.K. As for dinner the birdcage only serves breakfast and lunches upon request The staff usually leave the property by 6pm There are many good restaurants close by - the Greek Village is one street behind and is excellent so is cafe ritz at the yumbo
