A unique campground next to one of the greatest whale observation spots that I know of or have heard of. A destination of choice for any kayak and/or Westfalia owners (don't ask me why), this is still a great destination for whale-loving landlubers. Popular spot for scuba-divers also. Whoever you are, bring your camera with you! The whales are so close to shore you don't necessarily need a long zoom lense, although it doesn't hurt to have one. For the same reason, binoculars are useful but not essential. Relaxing and pleasant/respectful campground without too many rules (just enough) to enjoy being there with other campers with similar interests. The only campground with a coffee shop equipped with a espresso machine! Bike-pulled trailer comes around late afternoon with fresh bread and pastries. You will love being awakened by the sound of whales surfacing nearby. Some people pay $$$$ to sit in a boat for hours to see a few whales for a few minutes. Here you get to see them ALL DAY LONG for the small price of a campsite! If kayaking, bring water boots/shoes with a good sole (more than just neoprene socks), the "put-in" has a rough cement ramp to the water. When buying groceries, be sure to try the micro-beers (including ones such as the "Vache folle" (Mad Cow) from Charlevoix). No reservations for campsites, show up in morning as spot ones you like that are being vacated. Good luck and have fun with the whales!

We stayed in Cabin #2 for 2 nights. You need to bring your own bed linens, pillows and towels as none are provided. It has a microwave, refrigerator, table with 4 chairs, 2 beds Queen size with 2 thin mattresses on each bed and a fireplace looking type of heater that throws out a lot of heat. The bed was fair as far as comfort was concerned but I had no problem sleeping. It has a porch with picnic table and a line to hang items to dry. There is a parking spot next to the cabin which we didn't use as our friends who live in Quebec brought us here in their RV. There is a fire ring on the site. The bathroom/showers were only 1 block away. It cost $1 Canadian to take a 5 min shower. There is plenty of room in the shower area to place clean clothes and towels.

This place is AMAZING to view whales. While I sat on the bench and my husband on the rocks a whale breached about 100 yards in front of us. We really enjoyed whale watching here! So many to see as they come close to shore. Don't forget to bring binoculars as the blue whales were further out. Next time we come it will be longer as this is a dream vacation for us it exceeded our expectations.

We stayed here in our small RV on September 17th .
The price is right and the view is spectacular.
Washrooms are nice and clean.
The only drawback is the proximity of the fog horn.
It t was very foggy and the horn blew all night.
I got woken-up several times but I always managed to go back to sleep.
On the other hand my wife couldn’t sleep at all.

We were so excited to go on this trip and had been organizing our northern Quebec getaway for weeks! It just took the receptionist at this establishment to ruin all the fun. First flag was when I called to reserve. I spoke with a young woman who seemed annoyed by the fact that a anglo-franco was calling and asking questions. Mind you I was speaking in French the whole time (I am an intermediate speaker), she was incredibly rude and genuinely uninterested to help me find the answers to my questions. You take a risk travelling to this spot for camping since it's first come first serve. Finally when we get there, I couldn't tell if it was the same person, but met with unwelcoming attitude and "figure it out yourself" style service. Finally after searching for a spot, you realize you're just one of 60 other campers fighting for a spot by the water. No intimacy. Not the camping experience you drive hours for. Overall, the hospitality of these people was devastating. We ended up taking a ferry to Parc National du Bic for a much better experience and views of the sunset.

Great view, cool place. Really relax. See whales and other marine animals. We used to have a tent, then a trailer-tent and we always liked to be near the river and see the whales when we wake right out our window.

We upgraded to a 24-foot Class C recreational vehicle and we couldn't get too close (as those sites are small and "reserved" (no reservation!) for small camping gear such as tents, trailer-tents, camper trucks and camping vans only.

However, I was really surprised because our view was magnificent! We were at the top of the hill (close to the washrooms, showers and water utilities) and far of the shore but we had an excellent view on the river because no one is in front of us. Only tents are allowed and there was none. Even so, we would have had the same view because tents are typically not high and their ground level is lower than ours, just like at the movies.

"Wow", that's the first word that come to mind when I think of Paradis Marin (marine paradise). Spent 3 days there and we saw whales from our picnic table at every dinner and we were not even close to the shore. After a 5 min walk to the rocky shore, the whales are just too close! I have a 400mm lens and I had to zoom out to fit the whale in the picture. One Minke whale was eating (breaching the water mouth open)just in front of the campground, wow!
The campground itself is okay (shower, toilets, etc are okay), we were lucky there was not many campers around so we could chose our site (the grass was not even everywhere). We pitch our tent in the open and we strapped it carefully. We were a bit less careful with the bug shelter who was rocking sideways the first morning.

You cannot reserve your site in advance, so that's something that was bugging us... We didn't want to end up there with a full camping and 2 kids in the car... Hopefully it was about half full on the beginning of July.
I recommend this camping anytime!

I wanted to take up kayaking looking at the dozens of active kayakers on the calm river. We enjoyed the action while sitting on our folding chairs on the rock outcrop on the calm river. We even saw a whale and seals from the shore.
There are many spacious tent camping sites for non-kayakers away from the river. The bath house is adequate and cleaned frequently. Staff are helpful and bring firewood bundles to your site in the afternoon for purchase. It could be hot as there is not a lot of shade, but we were not there during a hot period.
We went on a local whale watch that was very well worth it. Food in the area was excellent as well.

We spent 3 days here in early August; after a very windy day, we were enchanted by a beluga feeding festival that lasted over 1.5 hours. There were white pods all over the horizon; fantastic whale watching experience. There is much krill here, due to the sharp drop off to a 300 meter depth just opposite the campground. So sightings are frequent from shore. Otherwise, Le Paradis Marin is a sea kayaker's Mecca; beautiful granite cliffs surround the area, particularly to the North. Wet or dry suits are a must as water temperatures are 10 C or lower. Kayaks can be rented, if proficiency is demonstrated (level 2 or equivalent of the Quebec Canoeing and Kayaking Federation). The campsite is a busy place during the construction holidays (last two weeks of July) and a couple of weeks on either side. However, the campers are respectful of curfew hours, and there is silence most of the time, so as not to disturb passing whales. Motorized campers can reserve ahead, but tent camping is on a first come, first served basis. Personal kayaks can be stowed on racks by the put-in area, so that you don't need to keep them on your vehicle or at your campsite. There is also a very convenient kayak desalination station, which allows you to conveniently hose down your craft while it is suspended on a cradle.
Lastly, the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the grounds as a whole was highly appreciated.

I have been dreaming to go there for years and when sitting on the rock watching whales it was spectacular but....
I arrived on the site and I only see sign for ‘don’t’ and not forget to pay but no sign of welcoming at all. Also, no whales explanation and nobody at the kayak place. The worst is at the reception, the lady eas very not welcoming and told me to go and find myself a spot and than come back to pay. As we were on bikes, she recommands a spot. People just drive around to find spots for hours until all campsites are full. You have no intimity at all as all campistes are so close to each other and some are almost in the parking lot. When I came back to pay, a young girl, at least she was smiling, told me that I should not have take this spot ( recommandation of the lady).
The feeling is the owner wants most of people does no matter the ‘experience’. The site has been deforested to put more people. Also the owner using a golf car, I did not understand why!
I did not try but next time I will go to Mer et Monde, same spectacular view
