Hotel's Favourite
This was likely the best check in experience I have ever had. The reception was friendly, helpful, quick and I felt appreciated as a Hilton member. Also as I asked for directions, instead of a map or pointing, they walked me to the door and showed me the directions. This was awesome and appreciated. They also suggested I take a picture of my valet ticket. No one ever suggests that.
Mike the valet was friendly and quick.
The room was clean, spacious and well stocked with enough towels , soap, etc.
The room was also very quiet and although the hotel was full, we never heard a sound all night.
Great experience and very pleased with the hotel.

You can't go wrong with a Hilton Garden Inn. This hotel is an old hotel that has been renovated. My room was clean, updated, and stylish and the breakfast was great (mto omelets) and the service could not have been better. There is a bar/restaurant on premises open until 11pm. Decent food. The valet was great - great service and with a smile. It was $35 per night - which is expected in the city. The only issue I had was that I selected my room choice on the app on the 5th floor. It was hard to sleep the 1st night because it was like you were sleeping in a tent and could hear everything going on outside. The hotel is right up on the road. We went to the lobby to see what we could do for the second night and they offered us to move upstairs to the 9th floor but because we had unpacked everything, we didn't want to move. So, we were offered a discount for the 1st night and offered ear plugs. The ear plugs worked well. I would stay again and recommend this hotel but choose a higher level room if it's available.

Our stay was perfect. We appreciated the kind welcome we received from the hotel team. Everyone on the team, including the manager, were absolutely wonderful.

We love the location for Tigers baseball, Lions football, and access to the finest downtown amenities. The parking is extremely convenient.

We always count on the reliable Hilton beds and linens, and the hotel did not disappoint - fluffy white towels and cool, crisp linens on the bed. We want to give a shout out to the housekeeping staff - they are first class. We appreciated their skill and work and friendly attitude so much.

We will be back several times this year.

What a great hotel. The customer service was amazing. Helpful staff at every turn, from valet, to check in, to breakfast, or a late night drink in the bar. Everyone was pleasant and eager to help. We came for an event at Little Caesar's Arena - about a 15-20 min walk. Breakfast was $14 per person - about average for a downtown hotel and was very good. The room was clean, quiet and the heater worked well. The staff made this an amazing experience.

I was visiting Detroit with a friend of mine over a weekend in April 2021, and we had the pleasure of spending a Saturday night at this hotel.

Our check-in process was simple and straightforward. Our room (#1007) was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the fact that the staff honored my request by placing us in a room on the top floor away from the elevator.

I also appreciated the fact that this hotel has a business center with computers I was able to use to catch up on my social media.

I would have no qualms whatsoever about staying here again. Parking was a little expensive, but that just comes with the territory of staying at a hotel in the downtown area of a big city. My friend and I were able to walk from our hotel to everything downtown that we wanted to see and do, which was great. Someday after the COVID pandemic is over and hotels are back to normal, I would love to see what this hotel is like with the restaurant/breakfast/bar/etc. being open.

I just have one suggestion. It would be nice if the front door that faces Gratiot Ave. (at the immediate corner of Gratiot Ave. and Brush St.) could be open for guests who are walking around the city to easily get back into the lobby rather than requiring them to walk around to the back near the parking lot. Perhaps guests could use their key card to enter through the entrance at that corner.

Thanks to the staff at this hotel for a great stay.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and in the city. Detroit is such a dynamic city, we love it when we hear out of town guests enjoying the sites and having a great time. We certainly want to see our restaurant/lounge open as well, we are hoping in the near future for sure. Again, thank you for the heartfelt review.

There's nothing really amazing to say about this downtown hotel.

We booked it due to the close walking distance to Ford Field, which that was accurate and does have.

It is a downtown hotel so you are going to hear a lot of sidewalk noise from loud pedestrians, traffic noise e.t.c. be aware.

Parking here is a nightmare. The lot is super small, to pull in to the hotel you don't have much space if someone is checking in or leaving either. The only option is to valet, which is also quite pricey. Especially if it runs through an event like a NFL game. I ran into 1 issue with valet where they went and parked my vehicle but didn't lock it! In downtown Detroit! I was very upset! Luckily I have a phone app that links to my car and I was notified right away, I was able to lock it from my phone. And also let them know their error.

The mattresses were some of the most uncomfortable in all of my stays.

Would I stay here again, probably not.

Explain where to park to customers because I’m from Illinois and parking is included with a big enough lot. This hotel needs offer free breakfast due to the price of the stay that’s the least they could offer. Suggested that they hire more people for hospitality because I had to wait upon checking in for ten minutes for someone to come to the desk.

Melissa we are very sorry to hear you didn't have a pleasant experience during your visit. We assure you are team's focus is for every guests to enjoy their stay from check in to check out wanting to return. As many downtown locations, parking fees is a normal fee as a majority of the parking lots are not owned by the hotels. As in ours. Hilton Garden Inn brands does offer breakfast for purchase as well as packages that include breakfast and parking. We again apologize for your experience and we hope you are willing to give us another opportunity to welcome you to Detroit.

I'm surprised by all the extremely positive reviews. I felt it was not up to the level of a Hilton Garden Inn, especially at these price points. While the rooms seemed to be updated, the hallways are dark with worn out and rumpled carpet. The gym is small and there's no pool (although it seems like there used to be one because there appears to be tape over the pool label on the directional signs). On the positive side, the staff were friendly and it's in a great location if you're going to a baseball or football game, although it's a bit on the edge of the "hip" restaurant area. The biggest problem (which is not the fault of the hotel) is that it backs up to a biker bar/nightclub with an outside patio that blasts music and revs engines well past 2 a.m. For the prices they are charging, you can stay at a nicer hotel downtown.

I needed a place close to an art exhibit at the Detroit Lighthouse Artspace. This is just a block or so away. I liked the fact that the hotel has valet parking; they do not offer a self-parking option. I am disabled and I need help, so I was disappointed that there was not a bellman for my bags. As an upscale hotel, I made the mistake of assuming this would be available.

My room was on the eighth floor and I had a handicapped accessible room. It was spacious. The beds were old and could definitely use updating. The springs creaked with every movement. They were also quite high off the ground, and difficult to get into. The bathroom was nice but clearly not designed by someone who was thinking about a person who is handicapped. There were the requisite bars on the wall and that was it. The toilet was not a raised toilet, nor did it have an elevated seat.

Breakfast was not included. There is a restaurant off the lobby, and the service there was pleasant, but there were limited options. The food was just mediocre. Coffee came in a paper cup and aside from the few options you could order made fresh, there were some options at a buffet area, as well. they had some basic eggs that tasted like they’d been prepared from powdered eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles and some potatoes. It felt like the typical free breakfast at a chain hotel, yet they charged $16.95 for it.

My room had a view and it was good. There is a lot of construction around the hotel at this time. It would’ve been a better view had I not had to look at a construction site, but obviously that is not in the control of the hotel. It was very noisy, though. Work was still going on at midnight on a Friday.

Overall, I was content with my stay, but I don’t plan to come back. I paid a lot for this room, and I do not feel that I got my money’s worth. I chose this hotel due to its location, but there are several other hotels in that general area. I expected they would have a bellman to assist customers with their bags and they should also offer a free breakfast.

No matter what city, we women know that walking alone at night should not be considered safe. That being said, it’s about a 10 minute walk and very safe through a lively part of town. It’s also a beautiful area - Detroit has done a fantastic job making the core accessible and attractive. I’m am actually visiting right now, and walked through downtown for a Tiger’s game and dinner - not too far away from where you will be.

If you are here for a meeting or day use only, parking will range from $5.00 - $15.00 for self parking or $15.00 for valet. Thank you again for reaching out!
