This is the fourth or fifth time we've stayed at the Anchorage and we love it. This time, we stayed in a Loft room, which helped us avoid interacting with staff and guests. The room was clean and well appointed. We did have to leave the indoor pool because it got a little too crowded for our comfort level. The location is amazing - it's so nice to sit on the Loft porch and listen to the waves crash on the beach. We love coming to the Anchorage in fall after the beach crowds leave and it did not disappoint.

I had a 3 night stay. The Inn is located off the main st right across from the beach. Walk over with your beach chair, cooler and children in tow and you will bask in convenience. No smoking or alcohol on the beach ( Red cups to the rescue ). The restaurant across the street sit down service was good. I arrived and was seated by a bright and cheerful young lady of the front staff. I enjoyed the “broiled haddock” for dinner and a IPA I think it’s called “Soho”. My waitress Sharon had a great attitude. The lawn was maintained and had enough chairs where you can sit and smoke a cigar and enjoy the night sky. Staff was pleasant, knowledgeable and responsive during engagements. Parking is a plus if you have a room on the lower level but the room was small.! The mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on but all other appliances, furniture and fixtures were satisfactory.. I would visit again but hopefully with a bigger room.

If you're looking for peace and quiet don't stay here. We had a two night stay on a Sunday and Monday - the rate was a ridiculous $250 per night for a MOTEL. The walls are very thin and the people above us stayed up late and got up early. The room was adequate. They did have a sign that there was no daily housekeeping, only after check out. We could get bath and beach towels at the front desk. The tiny area they call the bar closes at nine o'clock. The indoor pool looked gross and the outdoor pool was filthy with the walls grimy and full of what must have been sunscreen. At one pool visit there were at least 25 kids in the pool screaming and yelling. The only thing good about this place is that the staff were nice, especially the front desk, and direct access to the beach. We would not return.

Hello Katnippy, We’re sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. We want everyone to have a relaxing stay and have staff on 24 hrs at the desk to address any noise issues. We are definitely a family friendly resort so we’re surprised to hear that children in the pool were upsetting to you. Our pools are cleaned daily and tested 3 times per day to ensure safety for our swimmers and we have a cpo on staff so we can’t help but disagree with your pool assessment. Our water is crystal clear and the pools are vacuumed and scrubbed daily. We disclose our rates ahead of your stay, and in our peak season, like when you stayed , we were completely full so our rates seem appropriate for the current demand. Thank you, The Anchorage Inn

I’m sad and disappointed. My family and I have been visiting the Anchorage for years; ever since I was a kid. While it was never a five star experience, it’s done nothing but get worse over time, even after slight renovations. Upon entry to our room, the room was hot. The air conditioning had not been turned on. The carpet was extremely damp and there was a musty odor. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling above the sink, and there was mold on the wall in the bathroom, and around the seal of the refrigerator. Hair, dirt, and dust caked the corners of the bathroom. It felt dirty, and unkempt. Cleanliness should be a top priority, especially during COVID times. It was clear that caulking and paint were used to cover up existing mold issues, and very little care was taken when checking over the room. We had to ask for an additional chair to sit outside our room, since there was only one there. Maintenance was very nice. They brought us two additional chairs so that everyone staying in the room could sit outside, and they were responsive and timely when our bathroom light stopped working. I still think it is absurd that the Anchorage is unwilling to sell additional parking passes when there is plenty of parking left at the property on a night they said was completely full. This last trip will be the last time we stay at the Anchorage. To charge the prices they do for a low quality motel experience is abhorrent. Stop resting on your laurels, take care of the rooms, or charge a price that reflects the quality you’re willing to give your guests.

Oceanview room at ~$100/night, perfect waves across the street, stay and dine package meant $50 gift card to local clam shack (tasty). Extremely friendly management and flexible parking in the off-season. Highly recommended.

The Anchorage Inn has a great variety of modest rooms that will meet the needs of families, groups, and couples alike. It's big enough that you don't feel on top of other guests, as we typically travel as a couple and don't necessarily want to hang out with family groups. The views and the location can't be beat. We've stayed her multiple times pre-covid and look forward to visiting again after travel restrictions for our state (MA) are lifted.

The location is really wonderful, right across the street from Long Sands beach. The staff are incredibly nice. The rooms in the main building, however, are pretty bad. We stayed on the 2nd floor of the main building and paid extra for an ocean view room. It’s not much of a view though because the window looks out into the walkway where everyone passes by, and unless you want people to see you in bed or getting dressed, you have to keep the blackout curtains closed. This made for a rather sad and dismal in-room experience. The rooms are run-down, cramped and tiny and so dark with the blinds closed (which as I mentioned they need to be). The bathroom is clean but patched up and shabby and so tiny that the sink is outside the bathroom. There is nowhere to hang and dry your towels. It’s just not a room you’d ever want to actually spend time in. As mentioned by other reviewers the walls are super-thin, we were lucky our neighbors weren’t partying. There are a lot of pools which was a nice novelty. The indoor pools are a bit dingy though. Hot tubs were both closed and the water slide (which is featured prominently in the website) is gone. My kids were really looking forward to the slide. It didn’t feel worth the money. Its definitely not a resort. The staff were nice though.

We invite all future guests to review pictures on our website and covid amenity adjustments, also listed on our website and in our confirmation emails. The slide was taken down last year due to covid and is not back this year as we clearly state on our website. The hot tubs were also closed. All clearly stated on our website and in confirmation emails. Our main building is motel style. If you are not comfortable having an exterior corridor motel room, we advise that you don’t book the main building. The atrium has an interior corridor and is hotel style. Our rooms are not big. They are 200 sq ft as we note in our room descriptions. If you’re looking for larger, our ocean suites are 520 sq ft. Please don’t book a standard room if you’re expecting a suite. Any questions about our facilities or rooms are easily answered by our staff who are available 24 hrs. Or you can view pictures of each room on our website as well as covid restrictions and amenity changes under our covid page which is clearly noted on the website. Thank you, The Anchorage Inn

Room 128 was a disaster! Upon coming into our room (which we paid $50 extra for an “upgrade”) we found curtains broken, old take out trash from guest before, bathroom door broken and leaving wood splinters on the floor, and a bathroom tub that was not holding water and the drain was covered in old slimy who knows what. . Bed very uncomfortable, and it was either too hot or too cold. Thermostat did not work!!

When we called front desk, we were told that we have to understand because it is off-season that there are a lot of rooms they’re trying to keep up with in that housekeeping will come and pick up the trash if I wanted them to, but we were already in the room, so what was the point I wanted them to pick up the trash before we arrived.

We ended up checking out as soon as we woke up, a day early. Very disappointing because I heard so many good thing about this inn and Maine . But my expectations were let down big time! I will not be returning to the anchorage inn and I suggest that you don’t either.

0/10 do not recommend!!

We have stayed at other York hotels and this was the worst this far. The main pools were dirty and so were the hot tubs..literally pulled out plastic straws from the one outside. What really annoyed me was the fact that we spent all this money on vacation and get there and there is a card that says housekeeping will not occur during stay. So what am I paying for exactly? Which is annoying when ocean stay means sand..and traveling with kids.. then trying to maintain a clean room without a place to put for full trash. Wet towels just pile up. It’s just inconvenient when you are PAYING for the stay.
Subpar. Would give a two star rating.

Being from Massachusetts I was tested for covid with negative results .... I do not agree with travel ban , still think manger Patrick should follow the law though by having Massachusetts state guest signing the waivers , no smoking 🚭 or vaping is a nice rule but do not plan on relaxing with a drink 🥃 or vaping / smoking devices staff will charge $250 very quickly, parking was horrible pull in only and rooms stinky .... bugs 🐛 bugs 🐜 bugs 🕷, trash full and pools dirty , I couldn’t believe dust in bathroom 🚽 yuck 🤮

I've never seen any pets there, but it wouldn't hurt to call the Hotel directly for the right answer. They may have designated rooms for people with pets.
