We stayed three nights at Fisherman's Wharf, one of Boothbay Harbor's mainstay inns and restaurants. First, the positives about the lodging: we had a private balcony overlooking the harbor; the room was very clean; the location is exceptional - on the water and right in the village. The inn could really benefit from some upgrades, however. The room was lacking enough electrical outlets, which is an issue these days when everyone needs to be charging up phones and other devices. The room door was a very basic hollow core type and there did not appear to be fire rated doors separating the hallway to the bottom floor rooms from the restaurant's kitchens. Because it's on the water, there was a definite musty odor, which maybe can't be helped but better dehumidifying could help. The room key was an actual key and the room number was printed right on it, which isn't great for security purposes. Overall, things just looked a bit dated and somewhat worn. The staff was friendly and the restaurant very good, but for the prices all Boothbay Harbor accommodations command some upgrading of this inn should be undertaken.

Average older inn, ignore the cosmetics and it’s a great place. Perfect location to walk everywhere in town, front door parking, bar & restaurant on-site, balcony overlooking the water. Kind of smells like mold, pretty run down, and Bathroom fan needs to be stronger (one teen shower and the whole place is fogged for hours despite windows open). But, staff is kind and we were rarely in our room for much other than sleeping. So, for us it was great and we’d definitely stay again in a heartbeat! For someone more picky or who wants double sinks, etc, you may want to choose a different place.

We come here every few years for a vacation, was unable to come in 2020 due to Covid restrictions. We came in 2018 and they stopped offering any kind of military or AAA discounts but still included breakfast and a great dinner special for guests staying at the hotel. We just returned from our visit 2022 and sorry to say but we won't be coming back for awhile. When we looked online it still said Breakfast included but when we arrived they told us they no longer offer it. I don't like getting up and getting dressed to find a place to eat in the morning, I think for the price of the rooms with no daily maid service they could still include breakfast. As for dinner specials for guests that is out the window as well. The price of lobster was more than double, no fault of the hotel but just another reason we will not be back for awhile. I know in part alot has to do with the pandemic and our current POTUS so maybe we will try in 3 years to see if things get better. The people were still very friendly and courteous.

We travelled stayed at Fisherman's Wharf Inn for two nights, August 6th and 7th. We were a party of 11 and booked the hotel in April 2021. We had requested 4 rooms, to be located on the first floor, water view, all in a row. We had three children with us ages 7 years to 10 years old and wanted them to be able to play together and enjoy the balcony/ wharf without being separated and always being within our group area. The rooms were not located together at all. One room was located on the 2nd floor and smelled like stale cigarettes. We discussed the locations off the room with the front desk and were told we had all be scheduled together the week before we arrived, but someone at the hotel had changed it. We spoke to the manager the next morning and was told there was nothing to be done. He then gave us the "policy" that rooms are not guaranteed. Not at all what we wanted to hear. Making reservations 4 months in advance did not mean a thing.

The manager said he was going to put an "electronic nose" in the second floor room to determine the smell, but this did nothing for us during our rental. The suite on the 1st floor, that we booked was to have an unobstructed view, but had a large sailboat anchored right in front of it, obscuring the view of the harbor. Come to find out, it is anchored at the wharf most days. The older lady sitting at the door is rude. Were three of us standing near the outside barrel away from the door, when she asked us to move as we were blocking the entrance to the restaurant. This is a public area. The gentleman in the parking lot was rude to several people waiting for the Cabbage Island Ferry. The line forms to the right of the Inn's entrance. At one point he went so far as to say he would move his truck there and that would move them. Totally rude and uncalled for.

The rooms are comfortable overall. Pillows are good. No room cleaning during Covid, which is partly understandable, but does not reduce the rate. Over $3,000.00 spent at the Fisherman's Wharf and it was definitely not worth the money or what we expected($350.00+) per room. Some of us have been enjoying this area for 12 years as an extended family vacation, staying at this and the sister hotel in the past.

The behavior of the staff, the location of our rooms has made it so I will not stay here again. So disappointed and it cannot be blamed on Covid. The rest of the area and visit was awesome. Enjoyed the Cabbage Island Clambake, dinner at McSeagulls, drinks and appetizers at the Tugboat, breakfast at the Wave, ice cream on the pier, coffee and muffins at the Red Cup.

Our second floor room was so noisy that it was not possible to sleep. The people in the room above us were up partying past midnight and then up at 5:00am making so much noise again. The noise from the adjacent stair way and corridor can be easily heard in the room as well and make for a very noise stay. The room was very dated and dirty. The shower was very moldy and the bathroom could use a good cleaning. The room was dusty, dirty and in need of much attention. I would never stay here again and was very disappointed with this stay.

This hotel is very expensive and shabby.
It is worn out. The bathroom fixtures are of varying color. The ceiling of our room had poor quality repairs. The furniture is worn down to being thread bare. The bed linens happened to be good however. It is not a little dated or tired. It is very dated and tired. This place needed a renovation at least 12 years ago. The location is great right in the heart of the harbor. It is as clean as it can be with needing a huge restoration. Broken drapery rod/slider. Broken divider on the balcony between rooms. Interestingly on check in the desk clerk told us we had one of their nicest rooms. The other rooms must be terrible. Very expensive so very poor value. We were charged least 3 times what it should have cost.

Nice staff, beautiful view, clean room. On the expensive side, you trade big city class for port town character and the views. Our third floor room had a view of the outer bay, which we enjoyed from the balcony. The bed was comfortable. Easy access from the main road. Smallish bathroom. Refrigerator but no microwave.

Restaurant not open on Thursday for dinner and no breakfast due to covigeddon. Staff provided a list of nearby alternatives, which we enjoyed.

This location is where the flammable guests board. Yum!

We have stayed 2 or 3 nights every year for the last several years and have experience with the hotel. I know to book early enough to get one of the waterfront rooms with the balcony. Great view! The building is old but there are new renovations every time we come and it is clean and comfortable. Long walk through narrow corridors to get to the waterfront rooms but worth the trip. I'm walking challenged so I appreciate the elevator in the parking lot and especially the fact that there is a parking lot as Boothbay can be a tough place to find a spot.
The hotel is right in the middle of everything docks, restaurants, stores and couldn't be more centrally located.
Another positive note is the presence of sprinklers in the halls and rooms. Very reassuring in an old building.
Yo do have to make up your own room every day though I assume there is a way to get fresh towels, I was not advised what it was but we had enough and didn't need any.

I have been coming to the Fisherman' Wharf for many years. Was very very disappointed at this visit. No breakfast, but no discount on rate, no maid service. Had to go to the front desk and beg for coffee and shampoo for the 2nd night. Room was very dirty. Loads on dust on baseboards, hole in screen, just very dirty. People from every state arriving and all the front desk asks is, "Sign here that you are from Maine". You just drove in with MA plates???? No Covid concerns whatsoever. My last trip there.

Responded Sep 7, 2020
Hello, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you did not feel comfortable during your stay. I would like to clarify that our front desk is not asking people to sign that they are from Maine. Everyone must sign the "Keep Maine Healthy" form which states that people are either from Maine, or have met the state requirements to stay in Maine. We are all working hard to keep people safe and abide by state guidelines. We have implemented a number of cleaning procedures that include hospital grade disinfectant on all hard surfaces, increased vacancy time between room rentals and ozone machine treatment between all stays. We have also implemented a number of state mandated operational changes to increase social distancing. We are not currently allowed to serve buffet breakfast or do stay over maid service to reduce contact and meet social distancing guidelines. It isn't a decision we wanted to make but have had to do in order to meet guidelines. I do hope you can empathize with the situation we are all facing together and our efforts. Kind regards, Ramsey

Room was clean and nice. Great view of dock when you look out window. You can see private boats and tourist boats. Walk outside and you have many, many fun local shops owned by people who live in Boothbay Harbor. No Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts or any fast food restaurants. The inn has a restaurant with 100% incredible view and food! Fun place to hang out and eat!
You can wake up, eat breakfast at a local place (within walking distance), take a sight seeing or whale watching, etc., cruise or go fishing. Or if you are a land person like me you can shop till you drop! The stores are awesome and reasonably priced! Ice cream shops, popcorn, pubs, al kinds of restaurants, clothing and unique knick knack shops. Fun place to relax!!!!!!

Agree with previous response; don't believe there is a boathouse section at Fisherman's Wharf; also think that would be Tugboat Inn.
