We were caught in a unexpected blizzard with zero visibility on Hwy 3 just past Cayuga only an hour's drive from our home, but it was just too treacherous to continue traveling. Within 5 minutes of my saying we needed to stop for the night, Jay's Motel sign appeared - a beacon in the night.
We stopped and the storm continued.
The newly renovated and very clean accommodation was excellent at a very reasonable price $69.00 - ceramic tiled floors and a good layout with a very nice kitchen area with microwave, toaster, and refrigerator, and high counter top with stools to prep food or eat at.
In the morning we woke to a bright sunny day with an accumulation of about 8 inches of snow. Joe, the owner, had shoveled the walkway to our door, a path around our car, and had cleaned the snow off our car and the neighbouring guest's car.
Thanks Yvonne and Joe. We appreciated how you made our stay pleasant.

I was on a long distance cycling trip after a long bicycle ride to Selkirk Provincial Park (only to find it closed? Seasonal...permanently). It was six in the evening with darkness coming in an hour and I called by brother on my cellphone (weak signal) telling to search on the internet for nearby accommodation. That is when I heard of this place after my brother didn't find anything else within an hour's ride. It was a 40 minute ride and was on my way back to my home destination Hamilton...BONUS!
The renovation work and cleanliness of the rooms were. I was amazed to find a complete kitchenette! I was a little disappointed that the restaurant was not open that
day as I didn't have much food on me and it was only between 6:30 and 7:00 in the evening.

Quick overnight stop. Hotel was clean and Yvonne and Joe were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend. Went to Johns pizza for a late dinner as there wasn’t much open but it was good. Didn’t try restaurant on site but heard it was good

Nice clean updated rooms, mine had a microwave, fridge and even plates, cups, glasses and all the utensils. The place has a great little restaurant that opens at the crack of dawn for breakfast. Super friendly owners. Looks like we'll have to book early for those race weekends at Jakusa as it is only a five minute drive to the track.

We travel quite off down to Port Dover, Cayuga, Simcoe areas and since the first time we came upon this "gem" (12yrs ago), it is our #1 place. We were a bit skeptical at first as it a "motel" but to be honest, it's actually better than some hotels. Staff are #1, rooms are impeccable and the home cooked meals are "just like home". Ask for a "back room", it's like a 1bdrm apt. complete with fridge, stove and microwave :). All rooms are clean and NEVER have a "musty" as we've found with other motels. Stay here and you won't be disappointed. TV is through antennae with over 40+ channels and WiFi.

Clean, quiet, modern, Internet, cable high-definition television all made it feel like home. Very clean facility with an excellent restaurant in the complex. Owners are super friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
