I like to review only after positive experiences, unless I think my feedback might help the business owner.
So, I start this review by saying I don't regret staying at the New Yorker. It met all my basic criteria: clean, safe, well-located. However, there were multiple issues with the room that were puzzling. The room seemed to be newly remodeled, with bright paint and new tile throughout the bathroom. That said, the room had multiple inconveniences. The bathroom, with a pedestal sink and large shower, had exactly one hook for towels, near the shower. Nothing next to the sink, so there was nowhere to hang a hand towel. The room also had zero places to put your toiletries. There was one tiny shelf but it was full of supplies left by housekeeping. So the two of us placed our essentials on the back of the toilet (always risky!) and had to keep the rest in our suitcases. The main room also lacked furniture to place your belongings. One small bistro table and an occasional table, both glass and delicate-looking, were it, notwithstanding two tiny nightstands. We put one suitcase on the luggage stand and the other had to sit on the floor. In the small "closet" area there was a high shelf and exactly four hangers. It felt like the room was set up for singles only, not couples.
Nothing to do with the room, but the modest breakfast offered was more modest that I expected. Plain bagels and bananas. Every. Day. Got old fast.

I was looking for an affordable hotel in Miami for one night that wasn't in a bad neighborhood. I found this cute little gem! The staff was so friendly I felt like I was an old friend! Our room was nicely decorated and spacious. The bathroom was cramped and the facilities were a bit weathered, but it was clean. However, the tile floor of the room itself was not very clean. That was the only complaint I had. Hotel was withing walking distance to a great Haitian restaurant and my family and I felt perfectly safe walking there and back. Earplugs were supplied in the room, and so I was concerned about noise, but we had a quiet night, a comfortable bed, and a great night's sleep. Breakfast outside on the patio was wonderful - Charles the breakfast attendant is the happiest man in Miami and helped all of us start our morning out right. We did not have time to check out the pool, and I regret that we only planned to stay one night. I don't plan to visit Miami any time soon, but if I ever do go back, I would definitely stay here again.

Me and my cousin was looking for an inexpensive weekend get-away and what better place than Miami? Hotels on "the strip" were out of the budget for the weekend, so her Mom sent us a link to New Yorker. I must admit, we were skeptical but decided to go ahead and book it and agreed that we could change once we arrived if we choose to do so. Boy were we surpised! Hotel is clean, beds were uber-comfortable and we felt very safe (2 females traveling). The breakfast/free parking was an added bonus.

You do need a car in order to get around to get to South Beach or any other attraction since the hotel is off the beaten path. Other than that, do not hesitate to book!

we had booked a room months ago prior to our cruise. The photos on the website were beautiful but when we got there in person the front lobby stunk of mold, you could see the black mold tracking up the wall behind the receptionist. Once we got in our room, it also had a weird smell but none of the windows were functioning, no way to open a window so we had to prop the front door open. Paint is chipping off walls. I can say that the bed and bedding were comfy and smelled clean, no bugs noted on bed or behind bed or picture above bed. Ultimately, we ended up booking another hotel because I could not tolerate the smell and the windows not functioning. It was in a rundown part of the city. The bathroom was old and tired looking, the shower bar basically rusting away. Would not return.

Recently renewed hotel with quite big rooms with a stylish art deco style, super comfortable beds, and nice bathrooms. Super cool and friendly staff and a big outdoor area with a cool bar and pool. Despite is a bit far from the city center and the beach, is well served with busses that brings you there with cheap rides. We think is an awesome place to stay in Miami and would definitely come back!

We really wanted to like this place. Its artsy, the restaurants around are all ethnic, and there's a cool bar in the back. However, there is no hot water, the beds are terrible, and the flooring is weird. The worst part for us, though, was some guy who was creeping us out earlier in the day came banging on our door at 9 at night to try to hang out with us. We reported it to the front desk and asked for a room change, saying we were too uncomfortable to sleep there (25 year old girl vs a 50 year old man) and she wouldn't move out roo. She said she knew him and he was weird and she'd talk to him, which made us more concerned that this was a regular occurrence. We asked again to move our room, as we were the only people staying there, and she wouldn't. We didn't end up getting to sleep at all since we had no way to defend ourselves when he came bsck, so we decided to leave and spend money to go to a different hotel for our 4 night stay.

Good afternoon Rchaels, we are sorry & sad to hear about this. I believe this man was homeless nd had mental issues. It was a guests we were forced to host, it was a hep program solicited by the city of Miami during the COvID 19 pandemic. We did not have a choice on the guests we were receiving which is why we decided to close the hotel (also for renovations) few days after your incident. A guest shouldn't feel insecure when coming to a hotel, we truly apologies & will be more than happy to offer you a free stay in your next trip to Miami. The hotel is now fully renovated, we hope to see you in the near future. Best

Don't stay here. Drive by. Don't get out. Just keep going.

The gentlemen who checked us in was very nice
The women I spoke to the next morning argued with me when I asked for a hair dryer and said that there wasn't one in our room.
The bathrooms were probably original to the property.
The toilet had to be flushed two time consecutively to work.
The toilet lever was the same kind you find in public restrooms (big metal lever)
There was no clock.
The wifi did work and I used it the 3 nights we were there.
I was there for 3 nights of concerts at AA arena and it was in an ideal location for that.
Sometimes it would take 10 minutes to get hot water in the mornings.
We parked handicapped the whole time we were there, per the staffs' instructions, because parking is so limited.
Mold on the ceilings everywhere.
Toilet paper will give you paper cuts.

I have never stayed at a 'boutique' hotel such as this one.

Are you looking for a real New York experience? Like mugged in times square at gunpoint feeling? Then this is the hotel for you! Imagine you book your dream bucket list vacation as a terminally ill cancer patient by the generosity of others almost a year in advance and keep your fingers crossed you live long enough to attend it. Months later your purse is stolen, but its no big deal you cancel your cards and go along your way. This is already paid, and you have all the confirmations and receipts saying so. But when you arrive its a no go. They don't believe you, treat you like you are lying and refuse to accept any other card for incidentals as say straight out your identity can't be verified purely because you no longer own the same card with the same number a year later.
Then while crying because your bucket list dream is slipping away, they threaten to call the police because your crying is to disruptive, and they are extremely rude to you as you move to slowly with your bags as the forcefully remove you from the property. Because you know, years of chemo therapy and well slowly dying will make you frail and weak and unable to move as fast as you used to. But they refuse to help.
They also refuse to rebook, refund, or do anything but steal your money and treat you like trash.

If this sounds like a dream vacation then by all means stay here. If you think you could ever possibly have to cancel a credit card, because lets be real identity theft is very common these days and cards get compromised all the time, then run from this hotel hard and fast. But quietly, or they will try to have you arrested. I recommend the nearest park bench over ever handing these folks money.

This hotel is dirty, smelly and in a ugly neighborhood. Is far from all good attractions and it's just like a motel, is not good to stay for a couple of days as I planned. I got away immediately and the worst part I lost my money because they don't refund it.
