Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort is appreciated for its prime location near theme parks and dining, with guests enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and various amenities like the lazy river. However, some guests have faced slow service and high-pressure timeshare sales. While the spacious rooms are a plus, there are complaints about them being outdated and sometimes not thoroughly clean. Additionally, unexpected extra charges and noisy surroundings have been a concern for travelers seeking value and tranquility during their stay.

We are Rci members. We came here with our kids 13 years ago and were surprised how well maintained most areas are. We stayed in the west village again (but this time in the five story building, not the villas). We were concerned we’d get people above and beside us- but we didn’t. Although we had a nice golf/pond view- the road was so noisy we couldn’t enjoy sitting on the balcony. Definitely bring ear plugs.

We live close by so we brought food, but there is the publix close and a market on site that even has some “to go” snacks. We ate at the Breezes pool restaurant and had the best fish tacos ever! The lazy river pool area has some quick food places and cocktails.

We stayed on the resort the whole time and enjoyed the pools, some entertainment, golfed twice (the nine holes course) and just relaxed.

Main tips: get to the lazy river before 10 am to get parking and loungers (especially if you want shade). You can use pool noodles on the lazy river. We brought ours- but they sold thinner ones in the gift shops on site (~$5.00?). Some of the smaller pools get packed, especially late afternoons.

I went once to the morning splash and stretch session- hoping it was some sort of water aerobics session. Most resorts have someone lead classes that are excellent. This was 30 minutes of mild stretch and learning a tame movement to “YMCA”. I think all the folks were expecting quite a bit more. So I put in my blue tooth earbuds and put on my playlist to do my own aqua Zumba.

For the checkin- we got there at 3:00 and the line wasn’t too long. When they escorted me to the “key person” she had asked about plans for the week and I told her my husband had had a quadruple heart bypass surgery so we were just going to relax by the pools. She did try to entice me with $ to go to the presentation. I told her that we’re trying to get rid of the two timeshares we have. So she smiled and said ok. and we left. No hassles.

If you have kids it would be great to stay in the river village buildings right at the lazy river so you can just walk out. Not sure how you upgrade to that with an exchange but it would be great (unless it’s noisy from the pool activity below)

I traveled end of October. Only the Legends was open due to restrictions but it was a great week of golf, hanging by the pool and enjoying Happy Hour (4-6pm) at the lagoon pool in the North Village! Unit was roomy with a full kitchen, living room.and dining room area and the outdoor screened porch was perfect for breakfast and a warm nightly cigar and Scotch. The staff members were great and everyone was respectful of masking and distancing throughout the resort. This location is close enough to the coast that I took a mid week drive to Cocoa Beach (1.5 hrs) to enjoy an afternoon at the empty beach. Went to Downtown Disney one night and they enforced mask wearing and temperature checks before entering the grounds. Hit 2 Corona Cigar Company locations (Downtown Orlando and Sand Lake) with tons of selection and built in bars and lounges... awesome destination for any cigar lover especially Canadians! (Cigars are half the price even with exchange... Oliva V Melanio $15 $USD is $35 CAD at my local shop) I have travelled here with the family and friends on 10 different occasions and highly recommend it!

This review is a bit late. We stayed at th Holiday Inn at Orange Lake in August 2019. We had a 2 bed villa in the West Village area close to Breezes Restaurant and great access to the 192 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway (after being offered one in the East Village which we refused as we had read reviews that there was not a lot there).

The villa was a great size, albeit a bit tired looking in some areas. A lick of paint would make all the difference. It had a double and a twin both with their own bathrooms, a lounge, dining area and kitchen with everything you needed for self catering holiday, including a washing machine and tumble dryer. The villa was absolutely spotless. You only get one light clean if you stay longer that 10 days. There was also a patio area to the back overlooking gardens and a lake, but we never utilised this.

The resort is absolutly huge and you definately need a car to get around, although there is a complimentary resort bus which operates, but we never used it. We only visited the pool area and restuarant by our villa, so can't comment on any of the others. The pool area by Breezes restaurant was lovely. The one we used had a sloping walk in which was great.

The Breezes restaurant was good, some of the portion sizes were very large, so we shared a meal on a number of occasions. They also have televisions where you can watch sports etc. There is also a shop in the west village which sells a lot of different things and also has a coffee shop at the rear with the most delicious and huge cakes.

This review would have been given 5 stars only for the fact that as the resort is a "cashless" resort you need to give them you credit card details which they connect to your room. We had an issue with our card one night where the server in the restaurant said it had been refused. We contacted our bank the next day and it was because a wrong number was entered by the server. They then gave us access to check our account on a daily basis and we came across 4 transactions which had been taken by the resort, totalling nearly £800 and we had only been there for two days. After another day of trying to sort it out, we requested that our credit card details be taken off their system and we would just use our card as and when needed. Please be vigilant about this and check your transactions every couple of days.

Apart from the above issue, we had a great stay at this resort and would definately stay here again. We love Orlando and we hope to be going back very soon.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Orange Lake this time. Had a 3 bedroom/3 bath unit in the East Village. First unit we were given had a horrible smell - a cross between wet dog and vomit. We asked to be moved and while the next location did smell better, it still showed signs of extreme wear and tear.

Worst of all was the refrigerator that had cracked drawers and continually leaked water all over our perishables. Maintenance showed up out of the blue, but not to fix our refrigerator. He barely spoke English and said he needed to go to our back patio to replace an outlet cover. Not sure what he was doing out there but the outlet cover was not repaired. Creepy!!

Housekeeping staff loitered about the property and appear to be unsupervised. They also regularly parked in the front row parking spots while the guests were transporting their luggage and supplies from the back of the lot. Guests are treated like 2nd class citizens at this “resort”.

My husband and son-in-law did have a great time on the Legends golf course and the course is beautiful and well maintained. Clubhouse staff were not always friendly.

We have decided not to return to this resort and will either transfer our points to Priority Club or stay at another property. It seems to be more and more about the money and less and less about guest retention and satisfaction. Shame on you Orange Lake!!

We're sorry to hear your recent stay at Orange Lake Resort was disappointing; this is never our intention! Our guests and owners are why we do what we do, and providing great vacations is what makes our business so fun. It sounds like we missed the mark. With over 30 years under our belt, we understand the need for upkeep between renovations. It's our aim for guests to feel comfortable within their units. We're sorry to hear this was not your experience. We'd love the opportunity to learn more about your stay and have sent a private message in hopes of gathering more information. I needed to attend a professional conference in the midst of COVID-19 and I actually had a reservation at a Marriott chain which did not work out at all. After that awful experience, I was forced to get another last minute reservation and was booked for this location after calling the IHG reservation line. I cannot speak higher volumes about this massive and beautiful property!! I am so happy this was the one I got. It was myself and my son and we got a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen. Everything we needed to stay inside was provided. We were able to order groceries via Shipt and Doordash and they both delivered directly to our door! Sometimes when staying at a resort you have to meet the delivery people at the gate, so this was very nice!! The suite was Ecolab sanitized and had a seal on the door upon check in so that we were comfortable knowing it was not contaminated in any way after the sanitation. The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. They really gave us the Royal treatment and I was so pleased after literally making the reservation and checking in within one hour. This is absolutely the place to stay if you are in Orlando. I felt like I had my own apartment and really felt like I was coming "home" after each day of intense training. The living area, kitchen and dining area were beautiful. We had a patio and each bedroom had it's own bathroom. Just a wonderful stay and a perfect location to feel safe during a global pandemic. I will definitely stay here again. The bed was a little "springy", but not enough for me to take away from 5 stars!!

Just back from a stay for business, so we did not get to enjoy any of the resort amenities. We stayed in a 2BR Villa in the East Village on the top (6th) floor. The room was very spacious and surprisingly clean for such a large resort that sees tons of families/kids. The kitchen was well appointed with about anything that you could need. There was a full sized refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave oven, blender, toaster, coffee maker, baking dishes, skillets and pots. The dinnerware was Fiestaware, which surprised me. We had two bedrooms, one had a king bed and one had two queens. We had a full size washer/dryer and this was so convenient.
Now for the "depends on which room you get" part. We were originally put in a king "1 bedroom", not a villa, which was right in the building where you check in. When you walk into the room, you are literally walking right into the bed, from the hallway. The place where you will be sleeping is 10 inches from the door. As we went into the room, there was a very funky smell. It was also like being in a cave. It was SO dark. There was no way that I would've been able to do makeup in the lighting in the bathroom. I went back up to the front desk and spoke with Nicholas who really saved the day. He was very conscientious and seemed to really care that we were in a comfortable room. He was able to secure us the room that I mentioned at the beginning of the review. So, if you can, go for one of the villas, I think you will be much happier.

We live in Apopka, so not too far, & we’re looking for a staycation for my daughters 4th birthday when we came across this hotel.. & we picked the right place! The price for everything they have there, was great (don’t know if it’s always like this or cause of the pandemic, but I’ll take it) Calling one of the pool areas a ‘waterpark’ & having to pay for tubes for the lazy river, was a bit overkill, but was definitely an awesome pool area for a hotel. We stayed in the North Villa & preferred the pools there because we have young children, & that area had a kiddie pool, splash pad, & slide into the main pool with no height limit. We enjoyed the putt putt as well. We stayed in a villa with four of us & it was great. LOVED that there were fans, not something you usually come across in a hotel. Felt clean, & I brought my own Lysol wipes to wipe everything down before the kids came in so I felt at peace all week. My only complaints about the room would be not enough towel hooks (especially for all the pools on location!) & no hand soap, anywhere in the bathroom or kitchen (esp with everything going on right now) but other than that everything was excellent. We had great lunches at the pizza place by the pool, & ate dinner twice at the outdoor place at the front, which was great too. No luck with. Real fast though, the only thing was grab & go & not very good. & I wish they wouldn’t pressure you at check in about the tome share, maybe just make it an option online when people are making their reservations. But overall this place is wonderful & we had a great time, my kids didn’t wanna leave! Hoping to come back in the future.

Con’s: We called the resort before booking and were told things were limited, all but one restaurant was open. FYI there is ONE sit down restaurant open, 2 walk up windows, and your lucky if there is one free activity a day. Put-put costs $, tubes for the lazy river cost $9, other activities like tennis, basketball, and shuffleboard are available but the equipment is at the arcade, which is closed M-F. Staff is extremely inconsistent with their information, except the amazing knowledgeable shuttle drivers. Please understand, walking at this resort from pool to pool is quite the walk. There is no hot tub in North Village, every other village has a hot tub & pool. Due to COVID they do not allow you to use games or DVD’s, and Walgreens does not have a Redbox.
Pro’s:We stayed in a 2BR condo in North Village. Beds are comfy, beautiful stocked kitchen, no jacuzzi tub, RCI should have an upgrade but they didn’t give us one, no hot tub at North Village, timeshare presentation available for free stuff, clean rooms, and staff was great about providing you with missing material items. Instacart is available to deliver to your room, if you want info about the area or where/how to shop ask a shuttle driver. We never had to wait long for the shuttle to drive us around the resort.
Pre or post Covid would be great, but if we had been made aware of the lack of activities we would have chosen another resort. This would be a great place to stay for Disney as it is very close to the parks.

We stayed here for a long weekend while visiting Disney. Overall the stay was good. We stayed in a double queen room and the room was nice size and included small fridge (with freezer), dish washer, cook top and dishes. The hotel grounds and property were nice but massive so we didn’t get to explore everything. We did play in arcade and kids room and our kid (age 5) enjoyed both. We got a package including the breakfast buffet and I wouldn’t do it again. Not a huge selection of choices and the quality was just ok. The hotel is close to Disney as well as other restaurants, grocery stores and other shopping in area.

It appears that despite the facr that the staff draws a salary no one knows or cares about the guests! We arrived early and our 3 bedroom unit was not available which is totally understandable. We had to pick the rest of our group up at the airport and we were assured we would receive a call when our room was ready. We never received a call. The explanation for this was "it is an automated service"...hence no service. The unpleasant manager explained that we were told to call after 4 if we had not been notified. We were never told to call after 4:00. When we returned later in the evening we realized we knew the building but not the actual unit. After 15 minutes on hold we were told our unit number and once again told they didn't work at the front desk and had no responsibility for notifying guests in a timely fashion of their unit.
When we arrived at the unit there was no ice. Now they clearly knew someone was checking in since we were already on site. A call to the front desk resulted in some totally illogical explanation about us not wanting to use other guests ice. They said the cleaning staff always turned the ice maker off after cleaning it. When I asked them to explain how cleaning a bathroom and leaving it usable is different than cleaning an ice maker and leaving it making ice is less sanitary of course there was no reason. Of course, the only ice available is all the way across the resort.
I am in the hospitality industry and I would never leave a guest dissatisfied. I was shocked and the saddened by the complete lack accountability and customer satisfaction on the part of the staff. Shameful!
