Nestled in a serene location, Parrot Key Hotel & Villas is often described as a tranquil oasis offering a mix of modern and beachy sophistication. While guests appreciate the privacy, lush landscaping, and the picturesque views from spacious accommodations, the hotel's value perception is tainted by mandatory fees and pricey amenities. Visitors enjoy the multiple pools but note that room cleanliness and maintenance could be enhanced. The service is generally commended for its friendliness, yet some guests have encountered inconsistencies.

Nice hotel with tropical ambiance. One night stay is not recommended as resort fee $50/night is too much on top of room rates $650. Didn't get to use the shuttles, and didn't see a beach. And valet parking is crazy during busy season. However, food at the restaurant was good, and the room was small, but comfortable. I would book again, but probably not during busy season.

Dear Parrot Key Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post a TripAdvisor review. Thank you very much for a 5 rating - what kind words! We so appreciate your time and having had the chance to host you during your visit to Key West. Yes, one day is not long enough. A week still won't see much of the resort or island. Please feel free to contact me directly and it will be my pleasure to assist you if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for choosing Parrot Key Hotel & Villas! We travel often, and this particular trip was with three other couples. We chose this resort based on reviews and the fact that they had a shuttle to the downtown area. The resort itself was clean and nice - but the experience was just average.
Regarding the shuttle, it only traveled every two hours, and only held about 8 people. You had to request the ride in advance and of course it was always too full for us to use. That was fine, we were able to get cabs, but if you are counting on using the shuttle be prepared that it is more difficult than it seems.
The pools were lovely, however there were so many trees it was very difficult to remain in the sun. We and several around us moved our chairs around as the sun moved in the sky. This seemed to be frowned upon by the managers. They often stopped to ask why we moved our chairs or how we moved our chairs. It was odd. One group of girls were chastised by the manager for moving their chairs in front of a cabana that was unusable due to the lack of mattresses and pillows. It was strange.
The most troubling part of our trip was the fact that an employee stole from us. We had originally bought a foam cooler and beers next door at the Walgreens and had it at the pool. The manager came and told us that while we could have our own beers, we could not have a cooler at the pool and had to move it to the porch of our rooms. That was completely fine with us, it was a short walk back and forth and we took turns going to get more drinks. You can imagine our surprise when one of our husbands walked back to get drinks from the cooler only to find and employee of the resort removing drinks from the cooler. He was caught and apologized however it made us question the entire security of the resort. Very unsettling.
Drink service at the pool was spotty, they provided call buttons but it seems that they didn't always work.
Our rooms we're cleaned late afternoon each day but they failed to leave new/clean wash rags and floor towels. We had to use hand towels in the shower, which was odd.
Overall, I expected more from the service side. Our visit was simply average for our group. I do believe it may be better suited for a family with children. This resort is not the top choice for couples looking for a good time.

I had no expectations coming to this hotel. When searching for hotels, price didn't appear to mean too much and online pictures were often in stark contrast to a Google streets view. Not so here! The property is as beautiful as the pictures. We were celebrating a birthday with a group of 7 in December. We had a standard room, a 2 bedroom suite with living room, and a beachfront room. All three were great. The only complaint about the rooms is that they weren't cleaned as often or as well as they should have been and we did have to call and complain. It wasn't so bad that it cancelled out everything else wonderful though! The rooms were updated and the suite had a kitchenette. The beach front room was really spectacular. The view was of the open water with the mangroves right there. Relaxing, serene, paradise! The only restaurant does make it limiting on food choice, but we didn't have any intention of eating all our meals on site, but did eat a pricey breakfast each morning. The hotel is not near Duval st., however, there's a shuttle. Yes you have to reserve your spot, but not all hotels offer a shuttle, so this was a plus for us! I would stay here again in a second! The feeling of seclusion and luxury we felt would be hard to beat! It's nice to get away to a hotel like this after a full day/night on Duval St! Highly recommend this hotel!

Note: after reading some other reviews, maybe a tip on securing a better price for the rooms. We booked directly through their reservation service, however, after a better online price and then a mobile price became available, and they were able to adjust with one short call (we booked well in advance!). The internet price on their website seemed to have the best rates, but I made sure to check often!

I was very excited to stay at Parrot Key as I had read great things about it. I was completely disappointed. The room setup is bizarre; a “3 bedroom villa” is actually 2 bedrooms plus another room so the people in the 2 rooms can’t get out to the oceanfront porch w/out waking up the guests in the individual room. Our room smelled like mildew. The shuttle to both Duval st & the beach only run every 2 hours. There are only 14 seats so several days it was completely booked & unavailable. The man running the beachfront hut where we were supposed to get towels told us he was always out because the hotel never brings them. He openly mocked people who asked him to get a towel & told them it was warm & they should “drip dry”. The front desk charged our guests after I asked them 6 different times to put the entire charge on my credit card then seemed to think we were being difficult for complaining. the housekeeping staff was very nice but there’s nothing else to recommend this hotel. I will never go back.

Another great stay at Parrot Key! So much fun for the boys. With 3 pools to use (they have 4 but one is adults only)
The food and drinks were delicious and the pizza a huge hit (You must try their Bloody Mary’s) All the staff were masked and everything extremely clean and constantly sanitized making us feel very comfortable and relaxed. We opted for a 2 bedroom suite this time and so glad we did. Lots of space for us to relax and room for the boys to be boys!
We will be back soon!

We recently booked a reservation at the Parrot Key Hotel & Villas, Key West, FL using Travelocity which steered us to use Expedia as the best price. The reservation was for two nights which we paid in full to Expedia. The amount paid included room rate, taxes and fees and travel protection. Upon leaving the hotel we were charged a daily resort fee and valet parking. Additionally, sales tax and resort tax were applied to each and they attempted to charge us mini-bar items that we did not use. These amounts totaling $117.76 were not disclosed in the Expedia receipt and appears to be price gauging.
Also note, we did not use the beach or the pool but did have to valet our car in/out once because there was no self-parking. We used Uber during our stay. Although the room was very clean and as depicted on the Expedia web site, the noise level was terrible and when the power was lost for two hours, there was no emergency lighting and we had to use our cell phones to navigate the shower and the room.

We stayed at this resort for a long weekend in February 2020 and had a very nice time. The resort was recently renovated and feels and smells brand new! The details are what is most enjoyable. L’occitane body products in the rooms, Sun Bum sunscreen at the 4 pools in both 30 and 50 SPF, the design of the entire grounds, Toto toilets in the pool houses, modern light music at the pools, comfortable robes, large porches going out to a sandy beach, balconies looking out at the water! Everything is modern and stylish, yet the feeling is casual and relaxing. Housekeeping is attentive and leaves extra Keurig coffee cups for you at the door if you have a privacy tag hanging. They do have issues with the management of the restaurant. It appears that in the morning there is no assigned host at the restaurant and it is up to you to ensure you are served, including flagging a waiter down. But, overall it is a pleasant stay.

This was a return stay while in the Keys. I figured since our last stay was during COVID and New Years the hotel would do a better job. Boy, was I wrong. Not only are the housekeeping services suspended but it appears the groundskeepers are as well. The poor areas were littered with garbage, used cups, hair and overflowing dirty towel bins. The pool tiles had layers of scum, the chairs and tables poolside were filthy. Our room had peeling paint and wood along the shower pan, the carpets were disgusting and clearly haven’t been steam cleaned or shampooed. Being one of the few hotels with multiple rooms in the same villa, it is in my opinion that this hotel is using that to their advantage to charge higher rates for subpar cleanliness and services. People want to travel now so they have imposed a ‘no refunds’ under any circumstance policy. So because I had to change my flight, they told me I had to pay for the night I wouldn’t be staying there. This is even after offering to leave more than 24 hours prior than I needed to and paying for that day. I asked for a meet in the middle, I’ll pay an extra night if you please adjust my stay to remove the second extra night since I’m leaving… the answer was No. Key West is a beautiful place to visit but with the lack of helpful customer service, cleanliness and graciousness from staff it makes it a place to steer clear of. There are plenty of other places to visit and spend your travel dollars that will certainly be well worth it. This place unfortunately is not.

Parrot Key Hotel was amazing! We needed a last minute booking due a change in our vacation plans. EJ, the front desk supervisor, was amazing! He made us feel like we were the most important guest on the property. He worked hard to help us by finding a great room with space for the whole family at a reasonable rate. The property is beautifully maintained with multiple pools (one pool is adults only), a cute little bar and restaurant, and a nice private sand beach with lounge chairs and hammocks overlooking the ocean, but no water access. Great spot for photos! EJ followed up throughout our stay and provided us with helpful restaurants and activities to explore. Shane the concierge also was very helpful with setting up reservations at wonderful restaurants and tours.

First, our friends room was given away before we got there to someone who had a "similar" name. NOT the same confirmation number just a similar sounding name. Then the girl behind the desk proceeded to argue with my friend telling her that the room was held with a different credit card than she brought with her, uh no! It was the same, but why does that matter. They checked my husband and I in without the same credit card and using HIS name when I was the one that booked the room. OK, so they gave us free dinner that evening and $150 off my friends room. Secondly, they have the worst communication problem between staff I have ever seen. Each member told us different things everyday. Too much to elaborate on. Thirdly, the hotel is about a 10-15 min ride from downtown Key West. They do offer a 14 passenger shuttle but if that fills up and you don't get on, oh well. On returning 2 of the 3 days from Key West back to the hotel late afternoon, around 3pm our rooms had not been made up yet. There is no excuse for this when there are NOT hundreds of rooms on property and you have been out the entire day with no do not disturb sign on your door. Fourth, there's only one restaurant on property, which we knew, but closes, bar as well at 10pm. AND you can not deviate from the cocktail menu, asked for a simple vodka-cranberry and couldn't get it. Fifth, make sure upon check out you review your bill. We had rental car for one night and they charged us valet for all 4 nights we were there!

Not Parrot Key. There are a couple on the south side of the island I think. There is zero ocean access at Parrot Key. There is a bunch of sand so you can pretend like you are at a beach.
