Hotel's Favourite
Clean, quiet hotel adjacent to I-75. Decent free breakfast 7-10 AM. Free coffee and tea station in the lobby 24/7. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and the hotel is within 5 minutes of both spring training sites (Red Sox and Twins)

Hurricane Ian pretty much put Fort Myers beach out of business probably for another year, otherwise a trip to the beach was less than a 20 minute drive.

Booked last min. Hotel is located near restaurants and not far drive to the beach. Basic comforts of a mid range Hilton property are met here. Nice pool (towels were a bit tired) Pretty little lake next door. I worked from my room for 4 days (Internet was reliable) and the lake added a nice ambiance. Due to Covid, the morning breakfast was boxed and kept behind front desk and coffee was removed immediately at 10am. A recommendation would be available brewed coffee all day in lobby. Kudos to General Manager, Bryant Olson for his hospitality and kindness on a daily basis. He was a wealth of information and willing to assist in any way possible.

Hello Lfeicht, I'm am so happy to hear you had a wonderful experience while visiting a Hilton property. However, I do not think this is our property. Although we are a couple miles away from Fort Myers Beach, we do not have a lake nearby and Bryant Olson is not a manager at our hotel. On behalf and myself and team, we would like to welcome you to our property the next time you are visiting Fort Myers Beach, we can provide an awesome stay too!

Room bigger than a studio apartment. We stayed in a renovated room on the 4th floor. The hotel is in process of renovation; luckily, we didn't hear any construction noise.
Clean (but there were some crazy ants)
Amenities included Neutrogena brand soap (2 bars) shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer. Requested another bar of hand soap. Given nice but different brand.
Nice looking pool area, but we didn't get a chance to use it.
I liked that they still provide an actual newspaper (USA Today)
When a/c reached temp, it made a bad movie villain or cartoon laugh sound
One sign said that rooms were cleaned every 4 days, another said they were only cleaned upon request!
Used microwave to heat cups of tea - gave off smell of burnt marshmallows. Not sure if cups weren't microwave safe or if something burnt in microwave!
Breakfast included with the room is okay. Includes beverages, oranges, scrambled eggs, french toast, make your own waffles, breads, muffins, yogurt, oatmeal and cereals.
Snarky or at best not kind and accommodating reception clerk For example:
Insisted we requested a room we hadn't. All signs point to 100 level rooms; He had to be prodded for directions to our room, which wasn't a 100 level room. 2nd night, noticed sign that gold and platinum level guests get bottles of water and snacks. When asked about it, clerk said it's usually given at check-in. Had to remind him he didn't do that.
Bottomline, clean, comfortable room with minimal service.

I am a diamond member at Hilton and i have no issues staying at Hampton Inns, some are nice, some are terrible. This one... is a disaster.

PROS:
* The staff - They were absolutely amazing and i'm very sorry they have to work at this location since it's not their fault the place is a dump. They helped me out in any way they could.

The manager (I believe she is the manager), Sam, is an angel sent from the high heavens to make sure this place doesn't become hell's waiting room. She was really pulling her weight dealing with a lot of customers all the time, complaints left and right and she kept her cool, kept her professionalism and helped everyone out in a calm manner, it was fantastic. Give this girl a raise!

*Location -It's close to the walmart, pharmacies and restaurants.

CONS:
The room is VERY old, it's basically a museum at this point.
The water in the sink and shower had no pressure.
The ice that came out of the machine was dirty
The Pool water was dirty.
The couches/chairs in the rooms showed signs of age.
The pillows are flimsy, they have no give whatsoever
Plugs in the light fixtures did not work.
The sanitizing stations with disinfectant were empty during the 4 days I stayed there.
The laundry machine was jammed.

Overall, it was like staying at a roadside motel, very upsetting that I chose this hotel based on reviews.

Definitely not one of the better or even average Hampton Inn’s. Not only does this building need major renovation. It’s Very dreary and old. Staff seems very stressed. Definitely not enough help. Seldom saw a person behind the front desk. Never greeted by any of the staff, unless we said hello first. First Key card to room wouldn’t work. Either not enough help or staff not being utilized properly. During breakfast, the guy at the front desk was checking people out, people were asking for breakfast items, garbage overflowing. Evening coffee carafe had old cold coffee and there was no one at the desk to ask for fresh coffee.
I understand about the pandemic, but all Hampton’s should be consistent with their breakfast routine. No hot items, no fruit. The milk was in the back and the guy at the desk seemed bothered about giving it out. Tv remotes at other Hampton’s were in plastic bags and the wood coffee stirrers were individually wrapped as well as the sugar packets. Not here. They had a sign on how to clean your hands before you take pour your coffee, but I wonder if they are following the guidelines as well. I’m so glad this was just a quick overnight stay.

From the lobby, the hotel looks ok, but get to the room and you feel the drabness creep in. There is also no cold water at the sink along with no water pressure! The shower is old and outdated, not to mention low- so a tall person can barely fit under the head. The room is so narrow, only one person can fit in the walkway, and that is almost a task. The carpet just looks dark and dingy. We wanted to stay 4 nights but checked out after just one. Went to the new Holiday Inn Express next door.

Hampton Inns need to get it together. These circa 2000 ones need to get some love. For corporate to let the housekeeping staff know of my concerns doesn’t get renovations done. And I don’t mean cheap halfway renovations where you can tell it’s been renovated. Hilton has money to make these hotels look brand new.

What happened to the Hilton/Hampton inn quality standards. This hotel is in a great location but the rooms and bathrooms and beds are in need of cleaning and replacement. The place looks tired and worn. Our room had soiled looking and broken furniture. Rust and broken grout in the bathrooms. Key lock on door kept breaking. Need for a makeover to the quality Hampton inn service.

These rooms appear to be well past the industry standard "refresh cycle" for their rooms. Our room had a chair that was totally ripped and ruined (see photo). Also, there was a tile in the kitchenette that had obviously been "repaired" numerous times (see photo). The finishes were very worn. The chair in the living room was very dirty. You could see and feel the years of sweat and grime on it. After I took my shower, I covered the chair in clean linens because I did not want to sit in it with my clean PJ's. The room was a good size (it was a suite). It did seem quiet, but it seemed there was a lot of vacancy at the time. The lobby area near the elevator and inside the elevator had some sticky liquid that seemed to have spilled and dried some time ago. It is not pleasant to have your shoes sticking to the floor.

I alerted the front desk about the torn chair in the room and the mess on the floor. She did not seemed to enthused as I was telling her about the chair, so I showed her a photo. Her jaw dropped and she got a pad and pen and began to write down the problem.

This Hampton is at a great location near Sanibel and Estero Islands. We come to this area almost every year but will not stay at this Hampton again until they remodel.

The positive news is that this is a recently renovated hotel due to damage from hurricane Ian. Our understanding is that it only reopened a few months ago. The breakfast was on par with similar hotels in this price range. The hotel is in a good location for area attractions. Now for the not so good. We stayed for two nights. The first night we had no hot water, so I went to the desk to inquire and was told that our room was quite a distance from the hot water boiler and we should just let the water run to allow it to get hot. We tried, but this "solution" didn't work. The next morning (Sept. 21st), still no hot water. My wife went to the front desk asking for a different room. The front desk clerk was extremely rude and never offered to move us to another room. HIs only suggestion was to let the water continue to run before we took a shower. That evening there was a different clerk at the front desk and we asked him about the water temperature problem. He was more sympathetic about the issue and advised us that if our room had not been used in a while, it would take longer for the hot water to reach it. The solution he offered was to turn on all the sink faucets as well as the shower and let them run for about 20 minutes. This somewhat helped, but the water temperature was lukewarm at best. FYI, there is a Holiday Inn Express right next door to this hotel and I would recommend that a traveler to this area might want to check it out before staying at this Hampton.

MarkeN5899DH, acknowledging your challenges during your stay, we regret the inconsistencies in hot water provision and can understand your frustration. We strive to maintain exemplary comfort for our guests and it seems we didn't reach that standard in your instance. We appreciate your patience in trying the suggested measures to increase the water's temperature. A lack in our communication and service seems evident here, our front desk colleagues are generally well-regarded for their friendliness. We're disheartened to hear that wasn't your experience. We're pleased, however, that you recognized our recently refreshed aesthetics and relative location to local sites of interest. We hope to have an opportunity to better serve you during your next visit to the area allowing us to demonstrate the quality amenities that typically define our guests' stays.

Pros:
Staff & location

Cons:
1. Dirty rooms (long black hair hanging from security rod in bath - we both have white/gray short hair);

2. I understand Covid issues & need to eliminate hot cooked breakfast but a single urn of coffee behind front desk 5-10 AM, seriously, maybe offer a piece of fruit with bagged breakfast (you are in FL),

3. Windows so dirty outside difficult to see out,

4. Direct TV, limited channels & often no signal, even with no rain,

5. No servicing of rooms, 1-2 nights OK but we were there 6 nights,

6. Picking up towels, paper towels & toilet paper at front desk,

7. Furniture old, sat on our beach towels vs sitting on the chair & sofa,

8. King sized bed & pillows worn out,

9. Carpet, tiles & bath area enclosure needs full upgrade,

10. I have read some positive comments for this facility but these guests obviously were not in room 223,

11. I have been an HHonors member more than 40 years, many of those years a Diamond member. Retired 01/2018 & obviously don’t travel as much. My years with Hilton always provided comfort knowing whether Hampton, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden or Conrad, you knew quality was the goal. Clearly this location fails to meet the quality standard.

The Hampton Inn Sanibel is not beach front but located on the Ft. Myers dude of the causeway. A convenient location but really 20 minutes+ from actual beach, either on the causeway of Sanibel specifically. While convenient, we were there in August & hopefully the Hampton has cleaned up their structure. To me, it was not the typical Hampton I’ve grown to expect in more than 25 years of business travel. The other disappointment was the lack of a positive response from Hilton to the less than positive review I have this facility.
