The Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, while lauded for its scenic location and spacious rooms with views, often leaves guests feeling shortchanged due to additional fees that affect its value perception. While the staff garners praise for their attentiveness, service quality reportedly varies. Amenities and atmosphere receive mixed reviews, with some seeing charm in select areas, yet others find them outdated and in need of revitalization. The state of cleanliness also splits opinion, suggesting inconsistency in housekeeping standards.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the end of March for MLB opening day. We made sure to get a room closer to the end of the hall for the best view of the golf course and the ocean. Seems some rooms have obstructions but if you can snag a room on floors 3 or 4 near the end of the hall you should be solid. We ended up in a room (3076) on the north side of the pool and though I initially thought I might not like a pool facing room, I really didn’t mind it in the end.

Every single staff member was friendly and welcoming. I’m talking everyone. The bellmen, the front desk folks, the bar tenders and the housekeeping staff. All lovely folks who are eager to make sure you are comfortable and enjoy your stay.

We didn’t eat at the hotel aside from the breakfast Sandos at the coffee counter that were just alright.

My room keys almost never worked for the garage entrance and exit but the assistance button response is quick and apologetic. My digital key did seem to work a little bit more of the time.

The 3rd floor is the main floor of this hotel. The restaurant and pool and other amenities are mostly on level 2.

Food and snack options are great. Restaurant, bar, coffee counter, travel mart and vending machine near the parking elevators.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we will definitely be returning.

We stayed at the Hilton Torrey Pines from July 24-26 (Friday through Monday morning). Our experience was completely the opposite of the other reviews. We found our room on the 4th floor, southside (as we requested) overlooking the pool and golf course to be exceptionally clean. The carpeting looked newly scrubbed, the chairs were pristine with no stains. The bathroom looked thoroughly clean with freshly washed tub, sink, and floor. Plenty of towels. The TV remote was covered with a cleanliness blue wrapper. The door panel had a blue sticker that stated the room was cleaned, disinfected, inspected for cleanliness before our arrival.
We selected the AAA Park and Stay plan for a total of $208.05 per night ($24.26 in taxes), no resort fee, well below all other hotels in the area. The pool was cleaned every two hours (a staff of 8-10 cleaned, disinfected, sprayed) for 1/2 hour which we and many parents with children appreciated. One mother informed me at the pool, that she had stayed at another hotel down the street (Estancia) for a much higher price and that she thought this hotel was cleaner and much better priced. She wished she had stayed at the Hilton first.
We had hamburgers with salads (substituted for french fries) for dinner for $16.00 each. The hamburgers were thick, juicy, and delicious. Excellent price for the area!
Everyone, all staff each morning greeted us with 'hello'. My morning Starbucks (mocha latte) was perfect (large size) for $4.65, cheaper than at home ($5.25).
The environment was beautiful, the ocean view over the golf course was spectacular! We enjoyed morning walks around the grounds and Torrey Pines Park areas. We did bring our own bottled waters, juice, cereal, milk which we placed in the empty mini-fridge. Also, extra paper towels.
When we left, we checked out through our phone, then checked with the front desk to see the bill. Everything was accurate. We enjoyed our stay and felt safe, secure in our exceptionally clean room. All front desk staff wished us a wonderful day and a safe trip home. We will definitely be coming back to this awesome hotel.

We have been social distancing and staying home, away from anyone who doesnt live with us, since the stay at home order started. We wanted a mini staycation but were concerned about cleanliness and covid policies of wherever we were going. The Hilton implemented a new cleaning policy to ensure guest and staff safety, which we found best suited our comfort level and how we felt about leaving the house. Even the pool has a guard prior to entering, and is limited to a number of guests and has a schedule.
We were hoping for an early check in so the male rep who initially helped us asked us to wait to be able to get an upgrade for being a diamond member. After an hour in the seating area, we went back up and the new lady was not friendly and didnt initially understand that we were not trying to book a new room, just trying to check in as we were waiting for our room. She got a little loud and rude until my husband said we had already spoken to someone else and they asked us to wait to get an upgrade. So our initial experience was not that great until they realized we were diamond members, and their tone changed. It was a bummer, since our experience at other Hiltons have usually been superior from the start (staff usually dont need to see we are diamond members to be friendly).
The room was very clean, and we had a great view of the golf course/ocean. The pool was not busy and only had another family in the water.
Since they had just opened several days prior, restaurant was closed and there were no diamond member perks/benefits.
There is a $33 fee for self parking. and if youd like to go to the beach, it is about 45 minutes walking/hiking distance (no direct access from the hotel), And a few minute drive. They waived the resort fee since the benefits of the resort fee were non-existent due to just reopening.
I would give this place four stars. I bet this place is great during prime time (not COVID), so I won't knock a star for that. But I will take off a star for our customer service experience at check in.

Dear Eamenialal, The comfort and joy of each of our guests is a top priority for everyone on our team and we regret to learn that we fell short of providing you with a treasured Hilton experience. It truly saddens us to read that we left you somewhat disappointed. Speaking on behalf of our entire leadership team, we place great value in guest feedback as it allows us the opportunity to learn what guests most enjoyed and how the overall experience can be further elevated. While we are pleased to read that our cleanliness standards suited your needs, and that you delighted in the accommodations and the view, we regret to learn that several details detracted from an ideal stay. Your check-in experience is certainly not reflective of the experiences we strive to create and we hope you can accept our sincerest of apologies. We have already shared your review as a learning opportunity to review proper communications and procedures with our reception staff. We wish to always deliver the level of clear communication and timely, outstanding service that our guests expect and deserve from us. Learning that you found everything else to your liking brightens our day and we look forward to you further exploring our Hilton La Jolla Torry Pines with another visit, when next the need for another staycation arises. If we can be of service in making those plans, we invite you to be in touch. Regards, Tim Booth, General Manager

Beautiful property bordering PGA golf course with ocean views, beautiful pool area and fun bar in side. Room was spacious, incredible view, very clean and seemed updated early 2000’s. You can walk out back of property down sidewalk to “The Lodge at Torrey Pines” that is directly adjacent to property. The lodge offers a golf course side with ocean view patio restaurant that we frequented. Plus the Torrey Pines golf course PGA shop for great souvenirs. Early morning walks in the state park of Torrey Pines with its sand paths that takes you round trip about 5.33 miles. You can access the beach from the park and all trails clearly marked. No dogs or bicycles and view is epic. Property is very close to seaside village of La Jolla and Del Mar with various shops and restaurants. Quiet location as an alternative to the more expensive “Lodge at Torrey Pines” that lies adjacent to the north. Star bucks kiosk inside lobby provided your Joe for the morning walk and concierge was always willing to help plan the day. Bar is $$$ priced and at $33.00 per day in covered parking with elevator service it was pricey to have a car, but a necessary conveyance. Great bicycle path out front to take you up and down coast highway, but challenging hills will be a workout. Towels provided at heated pool and service was top notch.

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 month old newborn. (Our first staycation since baby) we felt so unwelcomed by staff, we payed so much to stay there plus resort fees plus a daily $33 for parking! and they don’t even clean the rooms! We called the front desk to ask for them to service the room especially needed the trash taken out (Diapers piled up) and they rudely told us they don’t do that right now but we can get and extra towel if we need that’s all they can do! I was so annoyed and on top of that we saw these gross bugs constantly in the bathroom, spotted in different spots near the shower and toilet. We had called ahead of time before checking in asking if our king sized room had a nice view (we were excited for the advertised water views) and the Hilton employee said yes beautiful view! Yet to arrive we found a not so nice view with a large palm tree in front of our balcony blocking any pretty ocean view , even if from a distance. For the amount of money and effort it took for us to get to La Jolla and it being a “HILTON” for us to stay there we were so sad at our experience! Never again , worst spent money ever!!

We love this location for the views of Torrey Pines golf course and easy access to I-5 or surface streets for venturing into La Jolla, Mission Bay, Pacic
Doc Beach or downtown. Or driving north to Del Mar. Hotel pool was great and they work hard to let you back to seat every 2 hrs after mandated cleanings. Restaurant hours are limited so we went to TP Grille next door for lunch and it was a short walk. Jacuzzi isn’t open. Hotel rates are great but there is a parking fee so keep that in mind.

I have had to stay here a few times during the pandemic, and I must say, it is one of the only hotels I feel completely safe at! They are implementing much higher cleaning standards, my room was spotless upon check in, with the remote sealed in plastic, and the clean stay sticker on the door. Mason checked me in and really went above and beyond to make sure I was settled and made sure I got my favorite room. I extended my stay, and Theresa and Kaori both helped me a lot this current trip. The front desk staff here is one of the best I've ever experienced while traveling. They are all extremely friendly and knowledgable. I really feel like this is my home away from home.
Definitely stay here if you want a clean, safe place, with beautiful views, nearby hiking, and friendly staff to welcome you and make your stay extra special!

My husband and I had a wedding to go to in La Jolla. So we decided to arrive early so he could golf before the wedding. We are Diamond Hilton Honors Members and we don’t write reviews or complain. But this visit was a bit much even for one night. The room I paid for, for a view of the golf course and the ocean was actually a side view out the window towards the golf course over the pool area. The room was smelly and moldy smells. Nothing special. The tacos at the bar had no taste. The chicken salad in the avocado had no chicken in it - lots and lots of onions no chicken. The hotel was going to pick up my husband from the golf course after his round of golf. They never showed up. After an hour of waiting, the golf course gave him a ride up to the hotel. To add insult to injury, the valets then just threw the clubs and the bags in the back of the SUV. Next time we’ll stay at the Lodge. The food is definitely better at The Grill.

Dear bluebeargeorgia, Thank you for taking the time to detail your recent stay at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. It is truly disappointing to read about the inconsistencies that occurred throughout your visit. I would like to begin by extending my deepest apologies for the room assignment and we have certainly noted your preferences for future reference. I also regret to learn that we did not meet your expectations at Torreyana Grille, popular for its award-wining gastronomic delights. I appreciate you bringing these areas of opportunity to my attention so I can understand how we missed the mark in this effort. While we are pleased to find that your visit included a reservation for exclusive tee times at Torrey Pines Golf Course, I was most concerned to learn of the service shortfalls you experienced. While we are obviously disappointed with your comments, we genuinely appreciate your feedback as it gives us the opportunity to take steps to ensure our service is up to the usual Hilton La Jolla standards. Please know that these circumstances are certainly not indicative of the extraordinary guest experiences we strive to provide. Should your time allow, I am hopeful that we can coordinate an off-line conversation so that I can extend a more thoughtful apology to you and take a moment to collect more details about the experience. Please contact me at the email listed below. I do hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you back to enjoy a guest experience that truly reflects the service we provide. I am here for business for 4 days this week, I am a Marriott person but the company picked this one for our meeting this month. I am looking at the course and the water every time I look out the window. Walking the fence line by the golf course and walking to the beaches from the room is like a two minute walk from the lobby.

This morning begins the Farmers Tournament, Tiger Woods T at 9:40. Crowd is already gathering up. The architecture of this hotel matching the beaches and the golf course makes this an unbelievable site. Extremely comfortable rooms, decor, service, hospitality, restaurants and bars on the property, meeting rooms, Ball rooms everything makes this a top event site of a family getaway.

Come and enjoy this yourself. Highly recommend it.

Justin helped my boyfriend & I get get checked into our room. It was a coastal/golf view room on the 4th floor. Great location! The bed was comfy & the room was clean. We were there about 5 or 6 days. Everyone was great & the staff was using Lysol to wipe down the common areas every few hours. Impressive! Looking forward to our next stay in December. Only thing that could be improved/added is some bananas and apples at the Starbucks since the restaurant service is limited to weekends. Great Experience! Great location! Friendly staff!

There is a parking structure as well as a lot. We were directed to the parking structure; I'm not sure who gets to park in the lot. I recommend calling the hotel and asking them these questions. Be sure to measure the height of your truck and then ask them the height of their parking structure, if, by any chance, you can't park in the lot. The people at the front desk were very friendly. I'm sure they would be happy to answer your questions. Hilton's main number is: (858) 558-1500 but customer service can connect you to the hotel if they are unable to answer your questions.
