One of the best resort I have visited till now. The receptionists upon checkin were really helpful and friendly. Great staff who knew how to serve the customer. The room was well equipped and the service was excellent as I had an upgrade for an ocean from room. From the balcony, I could view the ocean and feel the cool breeze. The location of my room was absolutely perfect. As soon as you come out of the resort, you just need to walk down some stairs and there is a direct path leading to the beach. Every day I spent at the beach I laid the $5 fee to get multiple umbrellas because of all the rain showers that movers through the area. It felt like a private beach, very clean and clear water, a very good place to relax and chill although the waves were massive during my over two week stay. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. The view of the sunset from that point was just absolutely mesmerizing. I must say the location of the resort is at best place in Sosua in my opinion. The food was fantastic at Casa Marina and taking dinner breaks for the resort was very easy with numerous restraints ya everywhere in walking distance. Loved all the locals picking me up in their scooter carting me to and from any place I wanted to go to for a small fee of course. Best excursion I did was to Paradise Island it was well worth the time and money. I definitely recommend this Resort I’ve travelled all over the world.

My first impression when I was checking in wasn't very pleasant, it was fast and you could feel that the welcoming was void with no heart into what they were doing and they were just two entries they were processing at the time. They gave me the room key and everything and just said follow the map to get to your room, can you believe that?
They have a gym called the Gym Box and that's exactly that, a small box and to call it a fitness center; it's too small, if 3 or 4 guest enter then it's already crowded. The hotel's surroundings are beautiful the palm trees, the gardens, it's quite lovely. The clock tower which has no clock and the pool pass by gives a very nice view. The drinks were good nothing new, just the same drinks I have encountered in other hotels. The beach side was amazing, the beach was very clean without seaweed floating around and there are two sides of the beach you can swim, I prefer the right side. The food was good but it was all the same for the 3 days I was there, very Dominican with just a few things that were different, but the most part was all the same. I was disappointed with the restaurant "Á la carte" so much fuss about it and to make the reservation and all that, but for me was not worth it; meagre portions and they just want you to be quick about it. A few of the staff are very polite a kind to you, but for the most of them don't speak to them in English because they don't speak very well the language they're just trying to fend off their way around with the attention and the service the guests are requiring; if you want beer and water your good.

First let me start by saying how Clean it was. Very Clean and Very Beautiful Views. Location is the Best. It is a 10 min walk to Playa Sosua which is the real Beach in town.

Food was Ok tasted good but quantity was Lacking. We found ourselves going in town to eat as the food was 5 star in town and 3 star on Resort. At the Seafood Restaurant I ordered Crab Cakes. What I got was Two very small Crab Tators.

Pools were very clean and lots of them. We hang out at the Cold Pools on the Cliff most of the time. Which brings me to the Pool Bar by the Cold Pools. The female Bartenders were very slow and very unfriendly. After the first day we walk a little further to the Pool Bar closer to El Batey Restaurant were the Bartenders were funny and out going.

We booked a Deluxe Garden View for the week however when we got there I asked to up grade to Ocean View and it was no problem just give a tip and if they have room its no problem.

The Good: Location and Very Clean

The Bad: Some Staff have bad Attidutes

The Ugly: Food Quality and Quantity ( Mexican was the best and Italian close behind) and the drinks are very Watered Down. We would drink from 10-4 and not get a buzz, go in town and have 2 drinks and have a buzz.

Just got back yesterday This resort is terrible and not safe one of the men our group got rolled in the bathroom in between the lobby and the entertainment area on superbowl sunday was cut pretty good on his neck. .someone wearing staff clothing let herself into my room the nite before I was leaving just as i was getting into the shower said no worries and she booked it away as i met her at the door as she was letting herself in as I heard her use her room key someone knocked on my door at 11pm that same evening and no peep holes in the door so didnt answer the dead bold was broken on my door the towel bar is hanging off the wall barely holding on the shower doesnt drain properly so floods the bathroom floor everytime you have a shower, there is no where to put your clothes so you live out of your suitcase, you have to rent an umbrella at the beach if you can find one and someone stole my bathing suit cover when I left my chair for 5 mins to get a drink. Staff stole my dental floss even though I left a tip everyday on my pillow also better take your own beach towel as there never seems to be any always come back in a few hours and when you do none left come back in a few hours same story every day a staff member made a pitcher of drinks and licked the drip off the side of the pitcher when she was done pouring the drinks out of the pitcher the mint leaves and lettuce are washed in regular local water so dont have a mojito or eat the salad no kleenex or facecloths have to use toilet paper for everything excjursions books and paid for and when arriving for a catamaran ride they wanted another 300.00 US for transportation so declined and returned to the resort still trying to get their money back this is not a good hotel nothing positive to say at all will never go back to the Dominican

Hotel doesnt have centrally filtered water meaning the only drinkable water is water bottles which the hotel is very stingy with. I called reception for 4 water-bottles and they in return told me that I asked for water to many times.

The theatre in which the shows perform at night, is completely open allowing sound to travel into your hotel room. If you sleep before 11am DON'T COME HERE.

The taxis outside the hotel are very expensive often times charging rates higher than ubers in most Western cities. A trip to downtown puerto plata (nearest city) costs $75 round trip. Even though it takes just 20 min to go there.

Food is timed meaning if your hungry you have to wait for the proper time otherwise your left to starve.

Overall The esthetic of the resort is bery good. This is a resort that is very stingy. I would only come to this resort if you cant travel to cancun.

Our family with adult children stayed here around the holidays and were pretty underwhelmed honestly. We expected more from a Waldorf hotel but found that the service wasn’t that great and the resort wasn’t that clean. There were a few days we had to call to get our room cleaned because by 4pm it still hadn’t been serviced. We would go to the beach in the morning and there would be trash from the night before. The beach was 75% rocks and coral but there is a small area you can go in and swim. Some redeeming qualities of the hotel were the location and the fact that they had lots of activities including an on campus water sport rental team. Overall we would probably not return.

Just got back Jan. 13 from spending a week at Casa Marina Resort.
Booked online for the all inclusive stay with the "garden view".
The "garden view" consisted of old trailers and a walking trail where the workers carry things back and forth through the resort.
Check-in took about 45 minutes with only 4 people working for bringing in a bus load of people. The reception and entire resort is all around very nice looking and renovated. The room was gross. The room had black mould under the sink, on the shower curtains. There was no light in the room and the lamp only worked if I fiddled with the wires near the circuit. The beds had hairs in them when we arrived. Other than the room, the resort was great.
Staff are super friendly, however some are very pushy for a sale. The excursion and massage men were very pushy, I would purposely walk further around them to avoid them. The maids are very sweet. The hotel reception staff are in no hurry to service you. Expect to wait 20+ minutes to even talk to the staff behind the counter.
Wifi "runs out" sometimes so you are forced to buy a more expensive package. Wifi for 1 day on 1 device is $6US dollars.
We went off the resort to go to the currency exchange and multiple locals will come up to you and ask for money. One man staying at the resort got a knife pulled on him when he left the resort. I went during the day and it was very unsafe. Many biker gangs just waiting around for trouble.
Overall, the resort was very nice, food was good. Staff could be more attentive and the room definitely needs a nice upgrade (would be nice to have lights in the room).
I probably wouldn't stay here again but I would come back to Dominican again.

Taking in count that this is a 3.5 star hotel it is well rated.
Everything is good or ok - nothing exceptional but the place is very clean, the beach is private, the food is edible.
We just got back in the midst of the corona virus- there was no entertainment or very little during the day.
The major complaint I have with this hotel is that a big part of it is not renovated and it is old!!
The renovated part is nice but it comes as an upgrade. There was mold in our room, our friends found some on their matress. Tiles were cracked, no storage or very little for clothing etc.
The staff was friendly on the resort but at the front desk they were cold.
Oh... wifi comes at a cost and does not work everywhere on the resort- for us we decided to have an offline week :)
If you use the safe, it also comes at a price. Umbrella’s at the beach also have to be bought every day. There are no swim up bars if that is something that is up your alley.

We will not be going there again, had a good time, weather was nice but it could have been better.

We have been here 6 times. Twice fir a month. Location to town is its best asset. Always a good selection of food at buffet al acarts are very good. Staff at front desk are not as friendly as they were. They are always finding ways to up charge for rooms that you had last year. Not the staffs fault but cleaners take your towels at 9 a.m. return them about 4 p.m. room cleaned at 3 4 or 5 p.m.
Some friends with us are in select not by choice they can not use anything just slwep and leave we can't even go in to knock on their door. We are looking for.alternative resorts in the area as we will have about 20 people next year. Not sure we want to have our friends subjected to this kind of behavior.

Just got back from one week stay on the Select side of Casa Marina Beach Resort. When we first arrived, we were taken directly over to the Select check in, where they had champagne and fruit kabobs for us, cool washcloths. This is truly a beautiful resort! So many look out points all along the resort. The pools set on the lava rocks by the ocean were spectacular. 3 days we were there, it was a red flag...no swimming in the ocean, but there were so many pools to enjoy, how could anyone complain? Besides, it was awesome just watching those big powerful ocean waves pounding into shore and up the lava rocks. The buffet was good, something for everyone. We didn't take advantage of the unlimited a la cartes(a benefit of Select), as we were busy exploring Sosua and visiting friends there. Lots of bars, washrooms, and pools. All were excellently maintained! There were problems experienced with Wifi, but when my husband sought assistance, they couldn't have been more helpful than they were. Excellent staff and service. Did their very best to accomodate, whatever the needs or wishes. I would definitely recommend this resort!
