Nestled by the river, Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp is lauded for its tranquil setting, which many travelers find enhances their connection with nature and the local Samburu community. The tents receive accolades for their luxurious amenities and comfort. While the rooms are generally praised for their cleanliness and opulence, a few guests suggest there's room for improvement. We arrived on the day they re opened after covid pandemic. We were received by the clinical officer checking our vitals and recording it which was very necessary given the times we are lining in. They sprayed with disinfectors which made us feel he lodge was taking all necessary precautions you could tell by they was they way they were all masked and different sanitisation ports all over the lodge.

We obviously got the best tented rooms as we were only like 2 different groups of 10 and 6.

The camp is at the shore of EwasoNyiro river and we enjoyed nights the most with the most amazing camp fire.

The staff are great after staying for almost 6months without visitors you they couldn't help but to walk with smiles and the ooze of positive energy made us feel very appreciated. Oooh i cannot forget the chef...he is world class with the most amazing meals...(don't be on diet when going here- You'll have to cheat the whole stay)

Anyways when you need to go to a nice peaceful game in Samburu this is one of the best place you can live in.
Thank you Samburu Intrepids for the most amazing times.

We really enjoied our stay at intrepids safari company. The staff is very friendly and they do everything for you to feel at ease and welcome. The food is also delicious and you have a great choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The tent is very clean and the interior is beautiful. Everyday someone will come in the afternoon and prepare the bed and switch the light on, so when you return from the game drive you'll have everything beautifully prepared. We will recommend this lodge to our family and friend. Thank you Intrepids staff, we really had a wonderful time.

If you like a bit of adventure, and are able to laugh at the occasional monkey poop misstep, Intrepids is for you! The lodge is set along a river deep in the park — so the experience is authentic. The tents are wonderfully constructed and immaculately kept, and the hot water is genuinely hot.

As surprisingly comfortable as the accommodations are, what impressed me most was the staff. From the two young women at the front desk, to the shy Saburo with the slingshot standing guard to chase away monkeys, to the young men who escorted guests back/forth from the dining room to the tents by flashlights at night (Necessary since Path lights are kept low to minimize light-seeking bugs which are plentiful), to Hussan (who chased a critter away off our deck one night), to the chef (who made the extra effort by personally bringing a dollop of cranberry sauce to the table after he saw this American looking for something and I mentioned we traditionally eat it with turkey — which was being served), to the waiter assigned for the several meals we had and each morning woke us with a “knock“ at the tent opening with steaming, delicious coffee and cookies. (Regarding the bugs — they were only a nuisance in the dining room area — screens would help).

Frankly, if I owned a hotel, I would hire every person who works there. They set a standard of service for everyone in any service industry. Bravo to all the employees there! May your efforts be rewarded!

Beautiful luxury tent camping resort on the Ewaso Nyiro River inside Samburu National Preserve! 7 friends stayed for 2 nights in mid February 2024 booked through Gate1 travel. The main structure and tent structures are nice and clean. Our waiter, Cleo and butler, Abraham were great and made sure we got everything we wanted. The tents have a separate bathroom and shower room and were equipped with toiletries as well as bug reppelent, luggage stands, flashlights and a floor fan. Tents are "locked" with a carabiner. The comfortable beds were surrounded by mosquito nets. Free wifi is great in the main structure with comfortable seating and laundry service, a bar and massages are available for minimal extra charge. Food was delicious and there were many options for each meal. The pool was nice and refreshing with plenty of padded loungers and towels provided. Guards are prevalent to ensure safety. Monkeys are cute, but kept at bay by the staff. Across the river we could see the locals bring their goats and camels down for water. The best was being inside the National Preserve and going on several game drives to find a large variety of animals!

No words can properly describe the value of this unique place in the middle of the Samburu National Reserve where wildlife trives, and you can find your peace of mind in the times of the global lockdown. A true gem indeed: super attentative staff, a Chef that telepathically follows all of your (hidden) needs, therapeutic bush silence (animal sounds and visits included), properly cooled rooms, an icy Tusker, and them colorful birds by the river altogether give you a feeling of tempi passati; of the Utopia one aspires for. Eden on Earth, if there is one.

I don't often write reviews. But I felt that not mentioning my experience at the Interpids would be a disservice to the staff of the Interpids, who provided the best customer service I have ever experienced.

The camp also has numerous free activities such as provided interaction with local Samburu warriors. Steve, the Samburu Warrior is great at sharing and teaching about traditions of his tribe with the guests. He is also a great teacher for beading and a champion at the Bao game. He can also give you a great lesson in archery if needed!

Daudi's flute playing is just very mediating and calming as you lunch.

And last but not least Kevin, Victor, Hussein, Pauline who made sure that my stay was nothing but the best.

Special thanks to Kevin whose kindness and generosity I shall never forget.

I most certainly recommend Samburu Interpids to others and will definitely return on my next visit to Samburu.

Chiang Mai Province, Thailand
We undertook a trip to Samburu park together with my partner in January 2021.
It was a three-days/two nights trip organised by Phœnix agency by Dipa, and it was wonderful!
Our guide Peter picked us up at our hotel with the minibus at 6 am. We had a sleepy beginning of trip and woke up to see Mount Kenya from afar in the early morning. We stopped for coffee and continued our road.
After a 6 hours trip, we reached Samburu. It has a very surprising landscape, drier than Masai Mara with huge plains of grass and "umbrella trees". The first day before reaching our camp, we already saw some of the "spécial five" only présent in Samburu : antilopes gerenuk (with long necks), grevy zèbras with different patterns, oryx, reticulated girafes, smaller with different patterns and somali ostrich (grey).
Samburu Intrepids welcomed us as kings, with fresh juice and a delicious meal. Meals were always plentiful and very well served, with 5 dishes, we never expected to receive such meals in the savannah!
Meat and fish were always very well cooked, pastries were so good and of course always accompanied by fresh fruits and veggies.
The camp is inside the park, so that animals roam around but security guards are always around to ensure safety. We felt privilèged in such a quiet and peaceful environment, with a beautiful view on the river.
We went for games drives every day. I was lucky enough to visit Masai Mara before, also organised by Phoenix, so that it was great to see both parks and their differences.
We saw many éléphants and girafes, antilopes were jumping everywhere. It was not as common as in Masai Mara to see big cats but we met a lion on our way out of the park the last day.
Peter, our guide, gave us a lot of explanation about all the animals and the plants. He was very knowledgeable and easy for planning. He also had good contacts with local people and guides and led us to a léopard "kill" spotted in the area, however we could not see the leopard.
Samburu Intrepids staff went beyond possible to make our stay the best one. They organised a bombfire for us in the evening to rest and watch the river with a drink. Our room had many attentions including a bottle of wine and chocolate bars!
The accomodation itself is very luxurious, with a small salon and lounge, a comfy big bed, hot shower water and all amenities to make the stay comfortable.
Of course our stay was made even more spécial as we were the only visitors for 3 days, and despite that the staff asked us every day to choose between different menus!
We had a bliss and felt on another planet for some time, alone with the animals and in a very nice accomodation.
It is a good idea to combine first a visit to Masai Mara and then to Samburu as they provide different flora and fauna.
Big thanks to Dipa and Phoenix for organising our trip and to Samburu Intrepids staff!

The tents were clean, bed so comfy, and decor just right for camp experience. Abraham kept things clean and tidy for me no matter how i left it.
The animals come right to the rooms at night and the first night it freaked me out but it got quite interesting trying to peep it guess which animal it was.
Pauline took such great care of us always ensuring out experiences from bush dinners, sundowners and breakfast were memorable. Not forgetting cleo who kept the drinks flowing all through.

We spent 2 nights at Intrepids camp in January 2020 and had an excellent stay. The best part were the staff, but particularly Steve, the naturalist. We went to his lecture every night and stayed to talk with him afterwards, and eventually got to know about him and his family and his story. He would also take us around for nature hikes during the day and tell us about the plants and animals at the camp, and the Samburu culture, which he's passionate about.

The rest of the staff were also extremely helpful, accomodation whatever needs we had and going out of their way to help us with everything, even if it was just a simple walk to the room and a chat. The security guards are all lovely and very helpful as well.

The food was great, the rooms were nice and clean, and the bugs and monkeys left us alone during our stay. And we were even able to see elephants and crocodiles from the restaurant nearly every meal I would definitely recommend a stay at Intrepids camp!

We stayed at Intrepids for 2 nights during February '21, which was our first 2 nights in Kenya. We were literally blown away by the accomodation. Honestly could not have expected better. We had a fantastic tent which overlooked the river and was constantly things to watch, from Monkeys, Bird and Elephants (we even had Elephants eating bushes next to our text in the pitch black - we could hear them breathing and chewing!) Whilst we were 1 of only 2/3 couples staying there, the food and service was fantastic and we never went hungry. Even the security guards would engage in some chat as we waited explaining things about the river or animals. All very interesting. All in all, would definately stay here again and have no issue in recommending to friends/family!
