Old fashioned, traditional Balinese hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights whilst in Ubud. The hotel is charming however a little dated! Everything in the room was clean but the bath could have done with being updated. That being said there was plenty of hot water! The people make this hotel they are just so welcoming, always taking time out to speak to you. Breakfast is basic; an omelette and toast and jam etc and help yourself to coffee and tea. It sets you up for the day. The hotel is so near to Monkey forest and right in the heart of Ubud!
We didn’t use the pool whilst there.
Thank you for looking after us during our stay 😍

This hotel is located on Jalan Hanoman and is less than 15 mins walk to Monkey Forest Rd (football field). Jalan Hanoman has a lot less traffic than Monkey Forest Rd.; thus a quieter place to stay. The down side is that the hotel is about 25 mins walk to Jalan Raya Ubud where the market, better moneychangers etc are. The hotel is a good budget option. We paid Rp350,000 p/nite for a room with 3 single beds plus b'fast (toasts, eggs, tea/coffee) for 2 adults and 2 kids. The room and bathroom (shower) were clean. I find the room to be lacking in natural light. There was only 1 window which we had to close the shutter for privacy (we were on the grd flloor) but the lighting in the room was sufficient. The hotel staff were friendly and obliging. We had a leaking air-cond one nite and they gave us the adjacent room to sleep in whilst our things remained in our room. The grounds were clean and tidy but not picturesque (perhaps better view from the rooms upstairs) and the pool clean (not so the kids' pools). I recommend the Kakiang Bakery nearby for sandwiches, cakes and tuna steak; and the Indian restaurant across the road - good food, mid range price and lovely paddy views from upstairs.

Hotel is OK, well located and the staff is really friendly. Facilities look a bit old and worn and they could improve a little the breakfast.
Tip: bargain the price there. They will always put a high number first and within minutes you can get to half of it, specially in the low season.

I've stayed at the Puri Padi at least 9 times. The staff is so friendly that they began treating me like I was their "little sister" -their words, not mine! They really made me feel at home every time. The breakfasts are great. Don't wait til your last day to try the jaffle - great with tomato!
The atmosphere is comfortable and exotic. The lobby and paths to rooms are are traditionally decorated with statues, carvings, foliage - lovely! The pool is tucked away in a great location allowing you to bask quietly and view some local wildlife. You may even get to swim with some lizards like I did. A great way to relax in the morning as you get over the jetlag.
The rooms are just a lovely with beautiful balconies that get lots of use. The bathrooms are marble and most have showers, but some have tubs -ask for what you want in advance. Comfortable beds and plenty of storage for your clothes and stuff. Oh- and the best laundry service ever! Super fast and I think they press everything - even underwear! haha!
I'd never stay anywhere else - for the twice the money it's a steal! I love the Puri Padi!
Oh one more thing: the serviced is so great that the staff will find you transportation to wherever you've got to go - even if they have to take you themselves! Truly awesome service. If I could gush any more- I would!

Very old feeling hotel and, as others noted, its right next to yoga barn which is the main reason people stay.
We actually stayed here twice on this trip through Bali. The first time we stayed in an upstairs room, and didn't notice anything askance. although in retrospect, my kid did have big welts on his back after our stay that we past off as mosquito bites. he does have bad reactions to mosquitoes.
but when we came back to ubud this time and stayed again my wife woke up in the middle of the night complaining of bugs: cockroaches on the floor and something crawling in the bed with us. Lights on at 2 in the morning, kid sleeping through it, and crushing bed bugs with our fingers. blood all over the sheets.
We left the next morning. the guys at the desk said sorry, etc. but what can they do? Obviously the owner of the hotel has to open the wallet and buy new beds and do a thorough cleaning/renovation. Their location is great, but, damn. Bed bugs galore....hope the little bastards aren't stowing away as we fly home. that's a bad thought....

This place is next door to Yoga Barn, down the street from KAFE, and right by lots of great restaurants. Maybe some of the people writing unfriendly reviews just haven't stayed in enough places in Ubud to make a qualified comparison. Yes, it was probably a very swanky place a few years back, and the decor (very fancy for the day) could be updated, but these are high quality, Balinese-style rooms with beautiful balconies. They also have adjoining rooms, which is difficult to find these days. I just hope my good review doesn't fill this place because I'm planning on bringing a group there in December.

The hotel is perfectly located across from many restaurants and is right beside Monkey Forest (a must see place) and Yoga Barn. The hotel is clean, and the rooms are Balinese style with a balcony. The new manager, Debbie, has done a great job fixing it up. The pool is very big and you can do laps in it. Brekfast is also included in the price! I would definitely recommend this hotel for its price, location and awesome staff. It is a home away from home.

This hotel was built around 1990 when I was living in Bali. It was beautiful when it first opened, but I don't think the sheets, blankets, bedding, towels ,mattress, television, or anything else has be replaced since then. I just stayed there last week and woke up with such extreme bed bug bites that I had to get medication for them. I explained the situation to the staff-they just made up the bed like nothing happened. BED BUGS. At your own risk.

I booked a room at Puri Padi because my first choice (Tegal Sari) was completely booked.
Puri Padi is ideally situated. There are tons of good restauratns right across the street from the hotel and the monkey forest and markets were within 10 minute walking distance. The hotel was peaceful, the grounds were nice and the staff were friendly. The room was basic, air conditioned and nicely decorated. However, it was shabby and dirty. The bathroom lights were not working when we arrived. They couldn't fix it until the next day. The bathroom was in poor condition: the door was warped, the floor was dirty, and the towels were stained. Our room had a door that connected to the next room. The door was shut but the walls were so thin that I could hear the guy in the next room snoring VERY LOUDLY and heard their TV clearly (they were watching soccer and were very rowdy even past midnight). Our terrace was littered with what looked like dried fruits or seeds or feces and was not cleaned in the 3 days that we stayed there. The "free breakfast" that was included was a measly 6 small pieces of fruits and some egg & toast. It was not filling at all. We found some rooms for rent that were far more pleasant and 1/3 of the price that we paid to stay in this hotel. Next time I come back to Ubud, I intend to stay in one of those rooms instead of in this hotel.
Regardless of my dissatisfaction with Puri Padi, I have to say that Ubud is a wonderful and beautiful place to visit. I'm looking forward to staying in Ubud again, although probably in a different hotel.

I stayed in Bali for 3 weeks and this was by far the most disappointing experience. It was obviously not well cared for the bathroom was quite dirty and I found dried blood stain on sheets. The location is good.
