Alam Jiwa means the soul of nature. This was Pak Ketut's second Alam creation. Set back in the rice fields of Nyuh Kuning Village, 11 guest accommodations are luxuriously appointed complemented with beautiful carvings. Alam Jiwa is a short drive or a 15-minute walk through the village to the Monkey Forest and Laka Leke Restaurant where you can enjoy an evening dance performance. A complimentary shuttle car to and from the centre of Ubud is also available on request.

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the fortune to stay in. We were upgraded to a huge 2 bedroom villa - it was next level traditional Balinese gorgeous. I almost found it difficult to venture out into town it was so tranquil, lush and exquisite. Breakfast by the large pool was a lovely start to the day - plenty of choice and also had the option to deliver to the room (which my teen loved as he slept in each morning) As a first timer to Ubud I wasn’t sure about which location would be best. Can confidently say that Alam Jiwa was perfect for us. A nice walk across rice paddies into the tourist hustle but far enough away to be completely peaceful with no traffic noise. The absolute highlight though was meeting the staff. Without exception everyone was lovely, happy to answer questions and were completely charming. Thanks in particular to Colo and Wayan - you are fantastic assets to this beautiful hotel. We can’t wait to come back one day. Kath, Rob and Rafi….

This was my second stay at an Alam property having enjoyed Alam Indah previously. I asked for a ground floor room due to a foot injury and loved sitting on my outside veranda enjoying the garden and rice field views. It even had a day bed which was ideal due my limited mobility. It was a lovely quiet place to relax and recuperate. Transport was available to nearby restaurants as there is no restaurant attached but a quality breakfast and complimentary afternoon tea is provided. I would be very happy to return to Alam Jiwa and their friendly staff in the future when travel is able to resume after the corona virus.

This was our second stay at this marvellous resort and we’d forgotten just how good it is. From the moment you check in to when you reluctantly check out, it is simply a different world and fantastic in every way.
Accommodation – each is individual and very cleverly laid out to give maximum privacy. Ours had a four poster bed with mosquito net and lots of traditional furniture. The bathroom was huge with a beautiful outdoor shower overlooking the rice fields – quite an unbelievable experience to get clean here!
There is a safe, umbrellas, fridge, hot drinks, making facilities – everything you need for a very comfortable’s day.
The air-conditioning was just about good enough to keep cool but we had a fan which helped as well.
Wi-Fi – you don’t really come to this kind of place to experience blistering Wi-Fi, but it was good enough. It reached the room and was best around the pool Where you could stream video should you like.
Food – we were served breakfast in our room and it’s the best breakfast I’ve ever had. We used to get the banana pancakes with coconut which were amazing along with excellent juice and coffee. You can choose a cooked breakfast, but we just had fruit with yoghurt and bakery which set us up wonderfully for the day.
Location – very good indeed.
You are in a small village with shops and restaurants and it is a 25 minute walk through monkey Forest into town.
Staff – simply amazing.
Pool – small but very beautiful. There are seven sun lounges around it and it does get popular. There is also other sitting areas or your balcony should be full.
Very discreet, but There in a moment should you need them. I like the tipping system here which is to save it all until the end and put it in a box which is shared amongst all the staff. This seems a fair way of doing things and it would be good for the hotels adopted it.

We enjoyed our stay at Alam Jiwa in the Jatayu cottage. The setting was peaceful and the neighbourhood had lovely little places to eat a short walk away. The free shuttle provided by the hotel was really useful, especially after dinner in the main Ubud town. The breakfast is set up on the cottage verandah which was a great way to start the day. There’s a lovely garden at the cottage for the kids to play in. Thanks to the driver who went out of his way to help us during our stay there.

Our 10 day stay at Alam Jiwa far exceeded our expectations, with the kind, friendly and attentive staff giving us outstanding care. The small, intimate hotel is set in beautiful gardens, hidden away next to rice paddies and a lush, natural landscape. The hotel is designed in authentic Balinese style, with accommodation that ensures privacy, and balconies with varying garden and/or rice field views. Rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable with a generous breakfast served on the private balconies or by the pool. Lunch and dinner can be ordered in. A short walk down a quiet lane takes you to the heart of the delightful village of Nyuh Kuning (just south of Monkey Forest) with its attractive streets lined with frangipane trees, shrines and a wide range of small restaurants and coffee shops. Ubud is about 20 minutes walk away, although the hotel also provides a shuttle service on-demand.
While some guests used the hotel as a base for excursions, we mostly wanted peace and relaxation, reading and swimming, and de-stressing from the first day. We are now planning our return trip.

We have stayed here 3 different times, and will come back whenever we visit Ubud. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds and views are lovely, the breakfasts are excellent, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect, quiet with great restaurants nearby, and easy access to the more noisy and bustling parts of Ubud. Will be back!

I had such a good time at Alam Jiwa. The staff were super nice and helpful. It was build, run and owned by a Balinese family so you get the a real Balinese experience. Visually is is gorgeously made and the location in the jungle is peaceful. I stayed in the wooden villa and I totally enjoy the big backyard with fountain, fishes, gazebo big balcony with view on the rice fields. We also had a good view on the sunset. We loved taking a bath in the semi outdoor shower 🛁 I recommend!

This luxury hotel is all about the traditions and beauty of Bali. Every villa is a suite with a tranquil atmosphere and an eye for detail. Everything is presented as though it’s a work of art. Yellow marigolds are everywhere around the complex decorating Hindu statues that line the walkways to each villa. There are lily ponds and lots of lush greenery and flowers all around the property.
The service is also incredible. Manik is one of the people who works in the reception area and he is extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. There is nothing he or any other employee won’t do to make your stay more enjoyable. They will arrange tours, dance shows, shuttles to and from town (free of charge!) and just about anything else you can think of.
We also chose to have breakfast included in our stay and are very happy we did. We could have it delivered to our room or eat at the reception area. We always chose our room and sat on the balcony overlooking a stream and jungle. It was the perfect way to begin each day.
We cannot recommend Alam Jiwa enough! We hope to return someday and stay longer. It’s a true gem.

We stayed in Alam Jiwa Ubud for 3 days 2 nights, one bedroom suite with breakfast. The service was great, staffs were helpful and nice. Variety of breakfast freshly made. That was first time to stay near the country side, in our room has an outdoor shower, you can enjoy your morning shower with beautiful butterflies :) One thing more, please be aware there are some noises (like dog barking, frog quack) during the night.

We just had our forth stay at Alam Jiwa, this time in the Merpati room. It's such a peaceful and relaxing place and the room has a great view of the rice fields and Mt Agung. It's close to many very good restaurants and I recommend Alam Jiwa highly.
