I have traveled to DC for work more than a decade and, from now on, I will only stay at Hamilton on 14th & K. It is not uncommon in the District to find nice hotel rooms in good locations, but it is extremely rare to find a hotel with staff as kind, welcoming, and accommodating as the people at Hamilton.
The lobby staff was eager to help me enter and exit the building, as I was using a scooter to recover from foot surgery; they were there to open doors, take my bag, help me into and out of vehicles, and not because they were told to do it by management but because they were genuinely lovely people. The front desk staff were always accessible and had warm welcomes. Management was never frazzled or cold, no matter how busy they might have been. The staff is the most valuable asset this independent hotel possesses.
As for the location, it was easy enough for me to get to yummy eateries, even on the non-electric scooter, but it was not really necessary because Via Sophia (the restaurant in the hotel) was my top choice for dinner.
My favorite parts about the room were the shower water pressure, the ability to open the window and have fresh air, and how luxurious the bedding was - I would have expected to pay twice as much, and I would have paid it, too.
I could not have asked for a better experience and I am sure you will be blown away by this hidden gem, too.

Hamilton Hotel was very convenient to where I needed to be for my work trip. Staff (esp Jerry at check out) were friendly, hand sanitizer and glass dividers were in use at the front desk, they seemed to be doing thorough cleaning / sanitizing. Rooms are small but nice, met my needs for a night or two. Note the hotel has temporarily stopped doing valet parking, which I appreciate for safety / sanitation reasons. There is paid self parking in a separate garage around the corner. Will return for another business trip in the neighborhood this fall.

My brother and I are not heavy money spenders when it comes to hotels, but with parking in DC averaging $35 a night, we had to find something affordable. Hamilton Hotel offered $10 parking per night, and when we walked into the lobby we were greeted by the friendliest and most patient staff. One guy brought out a trolley for our two suitcases and brought them up to the room before we had even parked our car. Instructions to the parking lot were stellar and crystal clear. The room was filled with a bevy of snacks and food selections. The chicken sandwich was delicious and paired well with a shot of whiskey and gummy bears. Highly recommend. We loved our stay and the location was perfect. We were one scooter ride away from all the monuments.

This hotel was really cute, it is somewhat Alexander Hamilton themed although I googled and it was built in 1922, so predates the musical! I was able to upgrade to a nicer room at a very good price. I enjoyed the park view and the slippers and bathrobes are very comfy. The staff is very nice and helpful, there is a number you can text to ask questions. This hotel is also in a great location, it's within walking distance of the Mall, the White House, and a number of metro stations.

Stayed here on our city break at D.C.
Staff professional and friendly. Good knowledge for tourists from the concierge. Rooms clean, big enough and bathrooms well equipped. Water pressure not great but just means you have to spend a little longer in it. Quite a few places to eat around the location. Macy’s for shopping is a 10 min walk and “ the circulator” bus stop is literally 10 secs from the hotel. If you want to venture away from town towards Columbus Heights, then it’s a short 15 min walk to lovely restaurants and various shops which help pass an afternoon. Hotel bar and food are very good. 2 beers and 2 good authentic pizzas set us back $45 which isn’t bad considering you have the White House around the fat corner! All sights are pretty much close, don’t bother with the hop on buses. Great value for money. Cheapest hotel listed when we looked and booked. Thanks for a great base!

We visited this hotel from Australia as a family just before Christmas. The location was perfect for enjoying the sites and the staff were super friendly, we all loved the hot chocolate after a cold day exploring the city. The room was quite small but worked out well as we spent most days enjoying the city and only came home to sleep. Would recommend as a great place to explore Washington DC.

Our stay was really good. The bed was comfy and the room was clean and cozy. Our room was supposed to be one of the bigger ones, but this being a city hotel, it was still very small and our view looked out on a restaurant terrace, meaning we couldn’t keep the blinds open. We liked the complimentary shoe shine and that they supplied robes (only one was in the room and we requested a second, which arrived promptly). I think for the price (we paid around $450 all together) I might expect a bit more of a luxury feel but I really had no specific complaints.

We had a great experience at the Hamilton. The staff was friendly, helpful, always professional and very approachable. Our concierge, Tony, helped us obtain tickets for museums and bus tours allowing us more time to explore and enjoy. Although covid is still impacting how housekeeping maintains the room, they were available anytime we needed anything. Location was walking distance to White House and other attractions.

Can't say enough good things about the Hamilton Hotel! You can tell from the moment you walk through the entrance that the staff maintains the polished and cleaned environment you hope for and expect while vacationing. The lobby is spotless and smells so fresh! Ian, with guest services, is very professional, knowledgeable, and most helpful. Rooms are spacious, beds are a dream, linens are crisp, and bathrooms have an abundance of towels and toiletries. Room service is prompt, even while serving perfectly cooked fresh selections. In future travels, I will hope to stay at a Hamilton Hotel location.

This was my 1st stay at the Hamilton Hotel. Walking in, you immediately notice the beautiful lobby, which by the way,smelled awesome. I know,sounds weird but it really does!
Checking in was fast & easy. The front desk was very helpful in explaining the parking arrangements as well as providing a list of local restaurants since theirs were closed due to covid restrictions.
The hotel is a close walk to many sites and there are many great bars, restaurants & deli's nearby.
The room was very clean and comfortable.
I would definitely stay here again.
